If you can drive and have a car, when did you last use public transport?

I haven't used any form of public transport for 7 years. What about you?

OP posts:
PlasticStraw · 24/03/2021 19:54

Used to regularly get the train pre Covid.

RedcurrantPuff · 24/03/2021 19:55

A couple of years probably

trilbydoll · 24/03/2021 19:55

Train to London to see BIL and SIL last summer whenever it was that we could.

Bus for a day out with two toddlers to keep us occupied about 4 years ago!

tootiredtospeak · 24/03/2021 19:55

Since March last year zero before that team to work 3 times a week

PinkPlantCase · 24/03/2021 19:56

About a year ago. I would commute on the train pre covid. We also only have 1 car between 2 of us so would often use the train to visit friends if my OH needed the car.

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2021 19:56

Last year before lockdown I got the train into Central Birmingham for a poke around John Lewis.

The public transport where I live is woeful though, couldn't get to work on it.

HarleyQuinn21 · 24/03/2021 19:56

I use it on holiday so abroad over a year ago, in the UK must be 5 years or so

DramaAlpaca · 24/03/2021 19:57

Probably on holiday a couple of years ago.

longhaulstress · 24/03/2021 19:57

December to get the train in for Christmas shopping. Much cheaper than parking.

DaphneduM · 24/03/2021 19:58

I used to get the bus regularly into my nearest city before the first lockdown. Only using the car at the moment.

randomsabreuse · 24/03/2021 19:58

Pre Covid, probably get the train once a month for sports events/fun stuff. Not used any public transport since Covid. Would also actively choose public transport for anything in a city centre or where parking is crap, I'm a big fan of a Park and Ride!

Wigeon · 24/03/2021 19:58

March 2020 - I used to commute by train/underground but have been working from home since then.

Hardly ever take public transport (pre Covid) in my home town as buses are slow, infrequent and unreliable. But always use public transport in London.

Clymene · 24/03/2021 19:59

Last September. Pre Covid, I took a train to work couple of days a week

Frazzled2207 · 24/03/2021 19:59

March last year as everything was shutting down. Previously quite a bit as went to work by train.

AgeLikeWine · 24/03/2021 19:59

February 2020. I took the S-Bahn from Munich city centre to the airport. In the U.K., it would have been the last time I took the tube in London, so October 2019.

HelloDulling · 24/03/2021 20:01

Just before Christmas. There is a bus stop at the end of my road; much speedier for a trip into the city centre than driving.

Usually, I get the train to London once a month or so ( 2 hour journey) and use public transport when I’m there.

devildeepbluesea · 24/03/2021 20:02

November, into the city centre.

SprungisSpringYaY · 24/03/2021 20:02

I have was late to drive so had to use pt for many many years.. Left stranded by buses that never turned up, all times of day or night same with trains etc.

I avoid at pretty much all costs now.
Once got train into London.. Few years ago and middy Sunday it was cattle cart.. Couldn't get past entrance to even think of seats, people in the aisles no air con and no window open.

hellcatspangle · 24/03/2021 20:02

Used the train for getting to work sometimes pre covid, and went on a bus and train when we were on holiday before the last lockdown. Buses round our town are crap though, always unreliable and frequently spontaneously combust. Feel sorry for anyone who relies on them.

Mosaic123 · 24/03/2021 20:02

March 2020. I miss going into London on the Tube.

Thecomfortador · 24/03/2021 20:03

Used a bus on December to go home and then pick the car up from MOT.

Parkandride · 24/03/2021 20:03

Park and Ride bus to work, probably early March 2020 - it felt very germy so I started driving the whole way in after that until lockdown. Haven't needed to use any public transport since

Loopyloututu2 · 24/03/2021 20:04

Train to London about 3 years ago. Occasionally use the train (pre covid) to go shopping in our nearest city if I don't want to park but I don't really like sitting on the seats or touching anything even before covid and kind of perch on the edge! I think back to the days of having to get the bus to work daily and shudder!

Recycledblonde · 24/03/2021 20:05

Beginning of December I got the bus into the neighbouring town to go to Sainsbury’s and have lunch out. Turned out the closure of pubs etc was announced whilst we were eating lunch. It was a bit like a wake.

ZackaryQuack · 24/03/2021 20:05

September 2019, dropped car off to MOT, decided to walk the 7 miles home. Wheel on ds buggy broke, had to get three buses to get anywhere near my house 🤦‍♀️
