If you can drive and have a car, when did you last use public transport?

I haven't used any form of public transport for 7 years. What about you?

Just before lockdown. However the bus frequency was due to be reduced from about 2 per hour in each direction between 7am and 6 pm, and not on Sunday to once an hour or less. The Council keep sending emails about using public transport with increasing regularity.

I use the tube every day but have a car too. I drive to work about once a month usually because I have to go somewhere other than home after work and a car is quicker getting home on these occasions. I love the tube and enjoy my walk from the tube station to work itself. I listen to audiobooks

OllysArmy · 24/03/2021 22:23

I live just outside the M25 and always use public transport to get into London. Haven’t been since late 2019 though.
Other than that I travelled in Feb 2020 and use multiple forms of public transport whilst overseas.
I also use the train to visit relatives in Scotland but again have not been since 2019, have plans for summer, fingers crossed

BraxtonChic · 24/03/2021 22:26

Pre-pandemic once or twice a month - local park & ride bus, train for days out and trips to see friends and relatives. I rarely use my car outside of commuting, and I would use public transport for that too if it ran anyway near my workplace.

PickAChew · 24/03/2021 22:27

I don't drive but dh does and often caught the bus around town, pre-covid as parking was more expensive (and if he was taking Ds2 out, he has a bus pass, anyhow). We just walk it, at the moment, if we have no heavy bags - the advantage of living in a small city.

icebearforpresident · 24/03/2021 22:28

I’m guessing at least 3 or 4 years, the train from Glasgow to London.

Svalberg · 24/03/2021 22:29

Monday last

I was supposed to be going to the theatre on the first day of the shut down last March, and would have got the bus.
Can't remember the last time specifically before that, but do occasionally if need to go into the City Centre.

fizbosshoes · 24/03/2021 22:32

We have a car each but DH commutes by train every day and has done throughout lockdown (hes SE in a sector that has been allowed to continue)
I will use the train every day when I go back to work. I cant remember the last time I used a bus!

wizzbangfizz · 24/03/2021 22:54

Always trains pre covid couldn't say when last on a bus

DrunkBetch · 24/03/2021 22:55

Pre covid I was getting the bus in to the city centre for work everyday.

BobsDouble · 24/03/2021 22:57

Train to London one day last summer. Drove 1.5 hours to get to the station though.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 24/03/2021 23:00

Pre covid, often!
Bought a house a few mins walk from the station. Commuted to work by train and would also use it regularly for leisure. We live near the south coast and the second the sun shines its impossible to park so would always use the train.
Haven't set foot on it since January

About 8yrs ago. We moved to a new town and we have zero public transport

Floralnomad · 24/03/2021 23:06

I went on the tube from North Greenwich to Guys hospital in 2017 , nit used public transport since . I do use taxis when we go to London but I’d rather drive up and park than use the train.

heidipi · 24/03/2021 23:10

The day before the first lockdown a year ago. I used to get the bus into town and back for work 4 days a week, plus if I went out in the evening to meet a friend or to the shops/wherever at the weekend. I grew up in a village where public transport was scarce so driving was the norm - since I moved to a city I've never stopped appreciating the convenience of buses every few mins, especially as parking is so expensive so the bus is the best option. And I miss that quiet time between school drop off and work with my book actually.

minniemoocher · 24/03/2021 23:16

Took the bus back when they let us drink in pubs so October I think

Mylittlesandwich · 24/03/2021 23:17

I would regularly get the train into the city for the day, it's much easier than parking but since covid 0. I think DS will like the train so when it's safe to do so we'll be having a day out.

sleepyhead · 24/03/2021 23:44

Just over a year ago, the last time I came home from work on the bus.

NiceGerbil · 24/03/2021 23:46

Today to get my jab.

Tube is easy quicker with the traffic round here plus I like being able to sit quietly and browse MN etc.

DustyMaiden · 24/03/2021 23:47

I can’t remember at least 5 years to London on train.

MrsTreglowan · 24/03/2021 23:48

Feb 2020, went on the night train from Penzance up to London to see a rugby match at Twickenham then returned and not been on a train or bus since

Ex0ticM1xture · 24/03/2021 23:52
