I fancy Chinese tonight and dp will have fish and chips.
Kids will only pick at chips and might push to a sausage, really trying to encourage them to broaden their horizons any ideas? What’s your kids chippy order?

Both of mine (teen/preteen) love cod, more often than not they don't want chips so just have a large cod each with lemon squeezed over. If they have chips we find a portion does all four of us as they're huge!

wendz86 · 19/03/2021 16:49

Mine normally get chicken nuggets or fish cake .

AlwaysLatte · 19/03/2021 16:49

Damn, I fancy fish and chips now. Not had it for ages!

kowari · 19/03/2021 16:52

The teen has calamari if available, otherwise battered fish. I don't bother getting him chips as he will only pick at them so he shares mine. I find they give us far too many anyway.

kowari · 19/03/2021 16:53

He's had the same since discovering calamari at about 7.

This thread is making me so hungry, and slightly gutted that I have food in for today and dh getting ready for cycling season Hmm... My kids would share a fish, or perhaps have scampi if that's an option, possibly a sausage.... I am soooooo hungry now and could totally eat a chippy tea! Best of all is that I live with maniacs who don't like mushy peas so I get them all to myself Grin

Blankscreen · 19/03/2021 16:54

Cod and chips with baked beans here

Linnet · 19/03/2021 16:56

Fish supper, sausage supper or white pudding supper.

NoProblem123 · 19/03/2021 16:56

I have to go to the chippy via McDonald’s Sad

PandemicPalava · 19/03/2021 17:00

Chicken and mushroom pie. She prefers it to the chips

BogRollBOGOF · 19/03/2021 17:07

Chicken meat in mint yoghurt and chilli sauce.
Or fish
Or sausage

They can do serious damage to a Chinese or Indian too.

I wish I had ribs like theirs!

SplendidSuns1000 · 19/03/2021 17:25

Most chippys do chicken/steak pies, they could perhaps split one? They usually have fish cakes and nuggets too, you could get a couple of things for them to split so they can try bits of everything maybe?

GoryGilmore · 19/03/2021 17:35

I had forgotten how much I absolutely love pineapple fritters until I read this thread!

What’s a pizza crunch? Is it deep fried pizza?

iklboo · 19/03/2021 17:37

Chinese - chicken & black bean, sweet & sour chicken, chicken curry or chicken in oyster sauce

Indian - Chicken bhuna, rogan josh or balti

English - fish, steak pudding or cheese & onion pie & chips

vampirethriller · 19/03/2021 17:41

Nothing. Won't even eat chips. I think she was swapped at birth.

FoxyTheFox · 19/03/2021 17:44

£1.70 for regular chips here

My DD loves a steak and kidney pie, a handful of chips and gravy.

I'm in the NW, near Liverpool. Here chippy is also Chinese so DD will get her pie, I'll have curry rice and chips and DH will have crispy chilli beef and fried rice. That is how I thought all chippys worked until quite recently.

feellikeanalien · 19/03/2021 17:52

DD has chicken nuggets, chips and gravy. Or she' ll have kebab meat and gravy. In fact as long as there is gravy she will eat most things!Grin

PotteringAlong · 19/03/2021 17:53

Mine have fish and chips! Just buy one fish and split it between the 3 of them.

Woeismethischristmas · 19/03/2021 17:54

Battered deep fried pizza or scampi. Chippie is a rare treat so I don’t feel too guilty.

Quaagars · 19/03/2021 17:56

Chop suey roll? (don't know what one of those are)
King rib? (never heard of those)
Chip butty splash?! (WTF's a splash Confused )
Grin

Our chippies round here are dead boring in comparision - it's choice of fish and chips, fishcake or sausage (battered or non) and that's your lot Grin

queenofthenorthwest · 19/03/2021 18:04

Our chippy does chippy stuff snd Chinese so she has either chicken or special fried rice & curry sauce or chicken and sweet corn soup with crackers.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/03/2021 18:38

Pizza crunch.

ChocOrange1 · 19/03/2021 18:41

@Quaagars
I think a chop suey roll is also called a pancake roll. We have them here (South Central england) and its like a big spring roll filled with mainly beansprouts and pork, with a spring roll wrapper and then fried in batter. One of my favourites.

I wish our Chinese did a munchy box, I'm very jealous of anyone who can get those!

AxCap · 19/03/2021 18:42

We don't really get a chippy since we moved away from a really good one but that order used to be sweet potato fries, battered haddock, halloumi fries, haggis and Mac n cheese bites and we'd just share it (DH and DC have mushy peas and I have pickled onions on the side).
