They’ve only gone and discontinued Syndol...

And it was literally the only thing that would shift my menstrual headaches 😩

The original Syndol contained paracetamol, codeine, caffeine and doxylamine succinate. They have pulled this off the shelves (no idea why) and they have now released a new version of Syndol which just contains paracetamol, codeine and caffeine (so basically the same as Solpadeine Max).

The doxylamine succinate must have been the secret ingredient as Solpadeine doesn’t even touch my menstrual headaches.

Ive been taking it for years with no ill effects so I have no idea why they have changed it.

I’m so cross and now dreading my next period without it Angry

I read they're withdrawing products over safety fears. I doubt it'll be back anytime soon.

If they do stop them, buy these and add to the other ingredients - paracetamol & codeine and wash them down with a strong coffee.

meant to say, split the pill at least in half, Syndol only had 5mg of doxalymine and these are 25mg.

Yes none in our chemists and also tried in London whilst on holiday. Only thing that works for migranes

That's useful thank you silverlox. It seems odd we can buy those but not combined with paracetamol in a painkiller. 🤔
They are the only thing that works for my hormonal migraines. 🙁

2 Veganin (readily available from chemists) and half a Kirkland sleep aid is the same as 2 Syndol. The sleep aid is doxylamine which is the ingredient that causes the licencing problems, make sure you only take half of the doxylamine they are tiny blue pills. The original Syndol been on and off the shelves for nearly 10 years now. I bought 100 from South Africa a few years back, they were the same but were huge round tablets and very hard to swallow. The Veganin combination does the job for me, nothing else touches my migraines

So for those of you who have tried, did the kirkland sleep aid work in the same way combined with paracetamol etc? For some reason I'm nervous about getting some, though it seems I might have to,.....

take Ravent, personally Kirkland sleep tablets work as good as Syndol when taken with painkillers. (and a large coffee) Just remember the original syndol, if you would have taken two, had 10mg of doxalymine combined. As has been said, only take half a sleep aid tablet.
The alternative is to buy from South Africa , but they are bigger tablets.
However they are as good as the normal syndol. When it was available.

I've commented on this thread 3 times but no one seems to read or acknowledge - Veganin is nearly the same mix of paracetamol, caffeine and codeine so if you take 2 of those with 1/2 a kirkland sleep aid you have as near as you're going to get to Syndol. It's available at every chemist and works for me

Hopefully I can try a few more expanding my search otherwise its online chemists again.

Gutted to see that they are unavailable again! I’ve just ordered some of the Kirkland sleep aid in the hope it will help with paracetamol and codeine. Anyone else tried it yet?

Phoned Sanofi today, Syndol is not discontinued but severe problems with manufacturing plant. Was due to be in stock end of May but problems continue so no firm date given. I have ordered Syndol many times from ZImseller in South Africa and found them to be reliable. They also supply Accurate which is the same formula as Syndol but cheaper. Hope this helps.

I've ordered some Midrid tablets from Chemist 4 U. They contain isometheptene.
