Lampzade · 07/03/2021 21:08

I did it and was not surprised to see that it was regarded as an old lady’s name

Lampzade · 07/03/2021 21:09

And I dislike my name

userxx · 07/03/2021 21:19

Not bad, 90% like. I'll take that.

Carolina24 · 07/03/2021 21:21

Yes, mine is a bit polarising. Most people think it’s lovely, traditional, not too popular and classy, but around 10% decry it as a terrible, ugly, stuffy name Grin

Carolina24 · 07/03/2021 21:22

(Carolina, incidentally, is not my name!)

Mummaofboys93 · 07/03/2021 21:27

I just looked & as I imagined people hate it 😂 I have never liked my name at all, to say it myself aloud it sounds really weird! I am glad hardly any MNers are lumbering their kids with it 😂

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 07/03/2021 21:30

@ItsALovelyDayToday

Apparently my name is “chavvy” among other lovely descriptors. But I’ve literally never met anyone else with my first name so maybe all the other are “chavs” 🙄
Mine too! And err “pikey” was one charming comment (not about my actual name, but the style). Also “American”, which is Not A Good Thing apparently Hmm.
TheOneWithTheBigNose · 07/03/2021 21:34

@JosephineDeBeauharnais on MN ‘American’ and ‘chavvy’ are practically synonyms Wink

meduskuka · 07/03/2021 21:50

Oh my. Pretty much everyone hates my name. )) Bleugh, horrible, just no, you can not do it to your child, transvestite Grin Not that I care- I love my name. ))

camperjam · 07/03/2021 22:12

Apparently it is lovely and classy.
I haven't met any babies with the name but there were 4 of us in my class in the 80s

brianfallonsguitar · 07/03/2021 22:13

MN mostly thinks that it's a classic and pretty name, but a number of posters think it's dull, bland and forgettable Grin

lljkk · 07/03/2021 22:16

Mine is damned. "anything but a classic" is among the kinder comments. I don't mind. Some MN popular names make me want to gag but I'm too polite to say so...

SportsBlah · 07/03/2021 22:24

On a thread called "do you have a test name", my name is mentioned as being all bitches, arrogant, horrid. Well ffs, ha ha

SportsBlah · 07/03/2021 22:28

*A twat name, damn predictive text

Wowcherarestalkingme · 07/03/2021 22:38

@camperjam I have a feeling we have the same name as I was about the type the exact same thing Grin

Silurian · 07/03/2021 22:42

@ViciousJackdaw

I have a Gaelic name and not one of the nice ones either. 'Irish granny chic' apparently. Personally, I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
Are you a Nuala, @ViciousJackdaw? Or an Attracta? Grin
KettleWentBang · 07/03/2021 22:46

Omg I put my name which is very unusual, never met another. And it came up as about 15 years ago there was a poster with the name as her username.

longtompot · 07/03/2021 22:51

Just have and am surprised it's quite liked! Well done my parents choosing it, and again rather glad I'm not called their other choice 😬

DJattheendoftheworld · 07/03/2021 22:57

I just did - it only appears on a couple of threads about hard to pronounce names.

CaptainCarp · 07/03/2021 22:57

Searched & I got
Wet
Classic but not overused.
Strong name
Timeless but short.
Also seems to get picked a fair bit on "a sibling for X" threads.

I like my name. I know a few of us but I'm the only 1 at my place of work (where we seem to have a lot of "duplicates")

Somatronic · 07/03/2021 23:09

Mine is traditional in my country but very unusual and probably unheard of in Britain. On MN people disagree about how to pronounce it and in classic MN fashion people think it would be a fate worse than death to be saddled with it Grin

I don't think having a weird name is such a burden. In real life people struggle with it most of the time but seem to like it and the meaning behind it.

MrsJohnLuther · 07/03/2021 23:16

Mine seems well loved, weird to think there are so many babies called my name! When I was a child it was difficult to get anything personalised with my name on it and I was constantly asked if I was really called the longer version of my name (im not). But I suppose it does now belong to one of the most famous women in the country!

AutoIncorrect · 07/03/2021 23:19

I just did and as suspected 95% of people think it’s awful Grin

LongIslandIcedT · 07/03/2021 23:23

Yes I wish I hadn't too. Seems I have quite a hated name, "downtrodden and 80s", "chavvy".
