kind of wish i hadn't Grin

MrsGulDukat · 07/03/2021 17:05

My name seems to be alright. Didnt check my middle name but even I find it boring.

BikeRunSki · 07/03/2021 17:06

Mine appears about once a week and is generally seen to be a timeless classic. It’s become much more popular in recent years, than it was when I was a child.

AdditionalCharacter · 07/03/2021 17:13

@AvonCallingBarksdale

Ooh I see it was described as “wet” by some posters. Bloody cheek Grin
Mine is described as wet as well. Wonder if we have the same name Grin

It's also due a revival apparently. Cant imagine it myself.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 07/03/2021 17:31

Mine received quite a strong reaction. Some people really took to it, but most people seemed to strongly prefer names like Sean or Daniel. That's just the global audience on MN, though: IRL, where I am here in Surrey, there's none of that snobbishness at all over my fairly common name.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 07/03/2021 17:34

I love it how you can suggest something like Isambardetta-Persephone and you can guarantee that somebody will be on to claim they know at least three little Isambardetta-Persephones in their village Grin

Fembot123 · 07/03/2021 17:38

I remember when someone was thinking of naming their son Pugsley 😂

NoJetter · 07/03/2021 17:41

Mine is very 80s and not due a comeback.

Ds1’s is very common, you can’t move for ‘x named’ around here and they are 10 a penny apparently... I have only met one other boy with his name in 3.5 years so they can’t be that common.

Ds2s name is very well received on the baby name board although it is sometimes referred to as wet Confused

TroysMammy · 07/03/2021 17:45

Yes - old fashioned, will never make a comeback, horrible. I'm glad really because who wants to disappear in world of Avas, Amelias and Freyas?

m0therofdragons · 07/03/2021 17:53

My name is apparently “important sounding” but all three of my dc names are either loved or hated with nothing in between. Luckily they like their names.

HeronLanyon · 07/03/2021 18:19

webuilt ‘here in Surrey’ and ‘lack of snobbishness’ - not sure I have ever seen that juxtaposition before ! 😂 Surrey native before anyone thinks otherwise 🤣

Palavah · 07/03/2021 18:29

Mine is old-fashioned and noone has ever met a nice one But it might be due for a comeback soon.

BarbaraofSeville · 07/03/2021 18:46

I don't need to look to know that mine is considered awful, dated, will never come back and everyone with my name is a horrible person with low intelligence and dubious morals.

brizzling · 07/03/2021 19:05

My name is hated on the baby names board, it's seen as tacky and is a weird spelling because it's foreign

Tiredmum100 · 07/03/2021 19:09

My name comes up on baby name threads all the time. People either love it and think its a classic or others think its a bit 'wet' 🤷‍♀️

BillyButchersBitch · 07/03/2021 19:36

I just looked mine up and it’s 50/50 between me being a “chav” or “80s mean girl”. How nice Grin

LadyofMisrule · 07/03/2021 20:07

Mine has been described as elegant, cool, and a whole load of other positive things.

I can't stand my name.

Thatwaslulu · 07/03/2021 20:09

Some complete dick once said mine was a fat girl name- wonder if it's the same name as pp? I mean, who would even say that?

TurquoiseDragon · 07/03/2021 20:16

My name rarely gets mentioned anywhere, it's very unusual. However, comments in the baby names board seem to suggest people think it's a chavvy American name. OTOH, the baby name generator seems quite positive.

meemaww · 07/03/2021 20:22

Yep - not made my night I’ve gotta admit! 😂😢.

I’ll be having a word with DM about giving me a crap name (that I’ve always hated!) that means sodding PLAIN!!

CHEERS MUM! 😡

Curiosity25 · 07/03/2021 20:33

Just looked it up and wish I hadn't now. Always really liked my name but MN think it's "Really terrible." " Incredibly dated" and a "Council house name".

SenecaTrewe · 07/03/2021 20:53

I'm a Suzanne and it has literally never come up!

VenusClapTrap · 07/03/2021 20:59

Mine has always been hated on the baby name boards and described as dated. But, very recently, it has been the topic of two threads and received lots of love and been described as that holy grail, an underused classic. Since then I’ve seen it pop up quite frequently on suggestion lists. I wonder if its popularity is about to explode! I hope not.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 07/03/2021 21:04

please will someone link the baby name board as I can't find it and when I search I get this thread!!

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 07/03/2021 21:05

Not looked it up on purpose but it comes up. I’m an 80’s America cheerleader. My kids are ‘Sloaney’ and ‘horsey’.

ViciousJackdaw · 07/03/2021 21:06

I have a Gaelic name and not one of the nice ones either. 'Irish granny chic' apparently. Personally, I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
