Does anyone else think that the Harry & Meghan show isn't going to be that explosive?

I really doubt that loads of dirt will be raked, or muck spread. I'm guessing that there will be a few "it was hard to speak" type complaints, which the media will blow up, but that it's not actually going to be as exciting as we're all being led to believe?

I agree. Harry surely can’t dislike his family that much. Also they need to keep things back so there’s something left to sell if required.

HelloThereMeHearties · 07/03/2021 10:22

I wonder if Oprah will make them look at their own behaviour, at all? That's what makes her a good interviewer, not just doing a PR puff for her interviewees.

Yup expecting lots of waffle and very little facts or explicit examples

I dont think it'll be that bad at all.

The RF is the only family I know where they all live in each others pockets (castles), no one seems to ever go anywhere to live, so good on getting going to his wife's country to live. Why not?

Mind you I'm still a total anti royalist.

ssd · 07/03/2021 10:26

I think it's the stuffy royal entourage they disliked

Normandy144 · 07/03/2021 10:27

I agree. The press are trying to spin this into a family feud when the reality is that when they're talking about the firm what they really mean is the courtiers and palace officials etc. The queen bought Archie a waffle maker for Christmas FFS, hardly the behaviour of a family "at war".

DinoHat · 07/03/2021 10:29

Lots of waffle - MM uses 100 words where only a few are needed. Probably why it’s two hours.

Frubecube · 07/03/2021 10:29

I didn't know the queen bought Archie a waffle maker for Christmas, that's so sweet!

Nah I don't think it will be either, probably more around their hopes for the future and saying why they felt they couldn't achieve that whilst in that environment.

Same here. I think the trailers they have released have been edited to make it look very melodramatic but the reality there will be a lack of substance, no skeletons exposed and nothing of note.

It will basically be appropriately 2 hours of moaning about how hard everything is for them. Which given the current situation many find themselves in is going to go down like a lead balloon.

Sparklingbrook · 07/03/2021 10:33

I can’t wait for it to be over. So much speculation, so many threads and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Hmm

She will be honoured to be given the privilege to be allowed to live her best life and to serve the universe in a very meaningful way going forward Grin

I used to like them, my mother and I did a big Royal Tea on their wedding day. But the incessant whining is getting tiring.

Also, doing Oprah is the money shot. There'll never be a big interview for them like this again. It's the law of diminishing returns - the more they talk, the less it means.

Yes he mentioned it in the interview he did with James Corden. I think people forget that this is a family that is essentially two things; a work place and a family and as most people don't have an inbuilt communications dept inside their family it is hard to disentangle the two. Good luck to them I say. I wish them well.

DinoHat · 07/03/2021 10:38

Yes I liked her too. Thought it was great to have a divorcee and a woman of colour in the royal family. Now she just bores me with this need to be seen as a victim. They’re two of the most privileged people in the world!

I love to hate her though so follow with interest!

Genuinely don't know why they can't just get in with it - they had the book, they have had so much exposure to "set the record straight"

I wouldn't worry, Sparklingbrook - the "Let's cause a bunfight" crowd are doing sterling work on every thread they spot, so they'll probably all get deleted

Same4Walls · 07/03/2021 10:52

I have to admit everytime I hear her speak I subconsciously think that she sounds like a student at uni desperately trying to meet the minimum word limit for an assignment.

Robieuni · 07/03/2021 10:55

I can’t work out what they actually do or what it is they want.
There seems to be lots of cultish self help speak, but nothing of substance.
It’s like they want their sanctimonious waffling to be seen on par to Mother Teresa’s work.
I think it’ll be a mishmash of preachy nonsense which is only going to appeal to rich privileged people like them, and complaints about how they didn’t get to do it while being part of the Royal family.

hedgehogger1 · 07/03/2021 10:57

I thought they'd done it all to get more privacy, seems like they're trying to spend more time in the public eye now. I may have missed something though. Not really been interested

PanamaPattie · 07/03/2021 10:57

I don’t understand why they think anybody cares about them and their lives. Where’s the hardship? Being free to speak at last. About what exactly? Nothing happened!

SmidgenofaPigeon · 07/03/2021 11:00

Don’t care about anything else, what they do, what they say except for one thing which really annoyed me.

Harry said Archie’s first word was ‘crocodile’. First word.

And I think that is complete and utter bollocks and I’d like him to be called out on it.

HelloThereMeHearties · 07/03/2021 11:04

I guess Meghan is trying to pivot them to being some kind of spiritual philanthropists, the problem is that Harry having been in the Army and her having been a minor actress don't really feed into that. All they have to trade on is their Royal connections, and fame. I'm sure that this Oprah interview has been carefully planned to feed into their attempts at creating new identities for themselves. Which is why I don't think it will be particularly explosive. Certainly not along the "I had an affair with Camilla" or "There were three of us in this marriage" lines.

I don't know but I'm struggling to give a shit 🤷‍♀️

If she were cake she'd eat herself, and with him, the lights are on but clearly no one's home.

I did laugh at the Siddiquis on Gogglebox, suggesting the waffle maker was a person Grin

Oh gosh yes me too, it was so unnecessary! How anyone could listen to him say that and not respond with a what the actual fuckity fuck are you talking about is beyond me. You don't even need to have had children to know that it was utterly untrue.

Surely I'm not alone in that all it did was make me wonder if he was prepared to tell such a whopper of a lie about something so trivial what else has had said before or since that is also a lie?
