Does anyone else think that the Harry & Meghan show isn't going to be that explosive?

I really doubt that loads of dirt will be raked, or muck spread. I'm guessing that there will be a few "it was hard to speak" type complaints, which the media will blow up, but that it's not actually going to be as exciting as we're all being led to believe?

The problem probably is conflicting cultures. Meghan will have been managed by and a gent and PR as an actress. But will have moved to RF PR management after the wedding. The RF take a stand offish approach to the press- engagements only and interview only in line with charity commitments.

I can’t imagine that sat well with someone so used to managing their own comms.

They did change PR teams a few times. I wonder if there are still issues with walking the line between how much they’d like to do and what is allowed.

Although frustrating for them it is kind of part and parcel of the whole deal. If you want the fairytale wedding, palace, servants and positive press then the price is holding your tongue in public against the negative press a la Katherine, Camilla, Eugenie, Princess Margaret and the Queen.

It sucks but it’s true.

All the stories put out by either side sound so petty. I really hope they come up with something decent!

But I've a feeling it'll be the race card and she'll say that's why people didn't like her. Which feels a bit lazy to me and it is so hard to defend.

HelloThereMeHearties · 07/03/2021 21:38

But she must be allowed to speak her truth, for the good of us mere mortals!

😀 How have I coped without being told what to do by two very wealthy people? It's a mystery.

I agree.
And contrary to what most people think, I bet the RF think this interview/rift is an absolute gift, it takes the spotlight off Prince Andrew.

Exactly this. But it's not a bad deal is it? If you asked any member of the public is this a fair trade off they'd say yes.

It's the same in many jobs, if you run a company for example you can't really go around sharing your personal and polo it all views around the office for example - it just isn't professional in a lot of settings.

She's just a very ungrateful person and so is Harry, with no concept of the real world.

I started a thread about MM which has now sadly been torn down

'Torn down' how dramatic. Grin Deleted?

Longdistance · 07/03/2021 21:52

Are we definitely sure it was crocodile, three syllables? Are we sure he wasn’t saying crock of shit?
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
I won’t be watching, they wanted privacy and I’ll quite gladly give it to them.

Ohthatsgreat · 07/03/2021 21:58

I’m also sick of the narrative that the British press is so terrible as though the US press is somehow a bunch of saints. Maybe it is kinder towards MM than the British press but I noticed some posts last week by Kim Kardashian saying how awful the US press were to her when she was pregnant comparing her to a whale etc.

I notice all the people that seem to break their backs defending MM and saying how awful the British press are (and by extension the British public) yet are silent over the treatment of KK when she was pregnant. And should we assume the entire US population are awful people for lapping up such press as well? Because we should given the arguments we see about MM. The hypocrisy pisses me right off.

The screenshots are here for anyone interested.

@ekidmxcl

H&M have fallen out with too many people. You can fall out with someone, even a couple of people. But when you have fall outs with so many people like they do, it's pretty obvious that they are a big part of the problem.

They have their freedom and they could have privacy which they claim to want. But...they're selling a 2 hour exposé to one of the most famous talk show hosts on earth and it's being broadcast globally for $$$$$$$$. The fact that they're giving this interview, when they could sit in their mansion with total privacy, tells me they don't really want privacy. I don't know wtf they do want, but it sure ain't privacy!

Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern... Yet Meghan has had a lot more fallings out than that and is, of course, the common denominator in all of her. At the same time, it probably takes a certain sort of personality to want to be an actress and to want to marry into something like the royal family.

I don’t think they do want privacy. They want to monetise themselves which is fine, so that they can be financially independent. What’s not fine is how they are going about things and accused of treating people.

Frannibananni · 07/03/2021 21:59

While I don’t think it will be explosive I do think meg will be all poor me, please pick me, I’m so lovely, everyone else is so mean. I think it just her posturing to become the next woke Oprah. Poor Meghan. No sorry I mean Poor Form Meghan.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 07/03/2021 22:02

Of course it's not going to be explosive. It's just the world's biggest platform for them to talk about their new life. Everyone is waiting with bated breath. Well-played, Harry and Meghan! I'm behind you Grin

Kendodd · 07/03/2021 22:03

I wouldn't, God no, gilded cage.

You've noticed this, have you? Maybe you should commission a study. I dgaf about KK and don't follow any news about her. How would I know if the press called her a whale when she was pregnant? And she was pregnant years ago....have you been keeping receipts on who posts now and who posted then?. Honestly, you must be twisted in knots with the amount of reaching you did there.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 07/03/2021 22:08

KK is not as famous as MM

WaggishDancer · 07/03/2021 22:10

Dislike her (or both of them) all you like but KK’s level of fame puts MM’s in the shade. There really isn’t a comparison. Maybe one day but not now.
UltimateBlends · 07/03/2021 22:13

The question I have who is this interview for?

Are Americans actually bothered about MM and an English prince? I can't imagine they are. Please, if anyone can shed some light for me please do. It's a genuine question?

Does the average American care about MM&PH? Do they even know who they are?

Overall, I dont think H&M are liked much in Britain either, and they make it very clear how little they care for the British public.

So, who is the interview actually aimed at?

Poppins2016 · 07/03/2021 22:13

I agree. I think the fact the interview exists in the first place is the most controversial thing!

I can't help but think that at the end of the day, in the back of his mind, Harry was probably thinking "I'd better be careful, I'll have to answer to Granny".

Echobelly · 07/03/2021 22:15

I'm sure it's massively overplayed. I don't imagine there is any Kate/Megan or William/Harry 'rift', I don't expect anyone is 'furious', or if they are, they are going to keep quiet about it.

Ohthatsgreat · 07/03/2021 22:16

What an incredibly aggressive, over the top response. Cool down. My comment was general not pointed at you so I don’t know why you’ve got all personal about it.

KK posted about her experience with the press just this week. I’ve not seen many people talking about it which I find interesting and I question why are her experiences are not being discussed at all. Maybe it’s ok when it’s the US press doing the vilifying of a pregnant woman. KK is pretty damn famous globally.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 07/03/2021 22:19

KK is nowhere near as famous as MM is now. Says a lot about your world if you think otherwise. Butt implants and makeup aren't really the main focus of most people. If I asked my mum who KK was she wouldn't have a clue. MM is on the news and on the front pages of papers every single day. I think the last time KK was in the news was when her jewellery got stolen, and that was ages ago.

Maybe because most people don't follow KK? No idea why you think my perfectly reasonable post was 'aggressive'. You cool down.

It's aimed at a global audience. CBS paid £7m for the interview, and H&M aren't even being paid for it!

I'm not an American but I doubt Meghan is as well known as Kim Kardashian. Although I'm happy to be proven wrong.

I don't follow her but she was definitely in the news no more than a week ago regarding her divorce which was obviously big celebrity news in America.
