Does anyone else think that the Harry & Meghan show isn't going to be that explosive?

I really doubt that loads of dirt will be raked, or muck spread. I'm guessing that there will be a few "it was hard to speak" type complaints, which the media will blow up, but that it's not actually going to be as exciting as we're all being led to believe?

Im not sure what they want , I was really supportive of them both and thought they were the modern royals so I’m a bit disappointed.
Saying that if they want out fine but it’s the fact they want to blame the British media . I think they are very naive to not think American press are not ruthless. I mean now they have the American media exactly where they want them but give it time .
I’m interested to hear what they’ve got to say and I’ll try and keep a open mind but it all seems very manipulative to me .

Anyone else read that as the Harry and Meghan show, like the Itchy and Scratchy Show from the Simpson?

Won’t be watching

Funkypickle · 07/03/2021 11:24

Personally, I think it's about money. Their income must be drying up. Or not to their standard and they need a cash injection. This is one way to do it. They can use it to spring board their 'causes' as well. To me it's a simple transaction.

Do I agree with it? I don't really care either way. For their sakes I hope this gives them what they are looking for and doesn't blow up in their faces. They will be widening the gap with the rf even further.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 07/03/2021 11:27

Its going to be more of this while the world burns around them with the pandemic and economic crisis and Prince Phillip lies there dying. I can't even be bothered to watch it.

i did laugh at the Siddiquis on Gogglebox, suggesting the waffle maker was a person grin

That’s pretty funny Grin

Don’t forget Meg makes a beautiful, organic mix. These are not any waffles. These are MM waffles.

Damnloginpopup · 07/03/2021 11:34

We've already had the explosion and a week of supposition.

PotDaffodil · 07/03/2021 11:38

Does anyone else just not care about the celebrity industry /neo aristocrats, and what these astonishingly privileged, entitled and rich over-users of planet earth’s resources get up to??

Crinkle77 · 07/03/2021 11:58

@SmidgenofaPigeon

Don’t care about anything else, what they do, what they say except for one thing which really annoyed me.

Harry said Archie’s first word was ‘crocodile’. First word.

And I think that is complete and utter bollocks and I’d like him to be called out on it.

I don't think he actually said the whole word. They were probably looking at a book and attempted to say it. I'm sure Harry didn't mean that he said the whole word perfectly

Anyway why don't they just stop digging themselves in to a bigger hole. It's like they're desperately trying to prove it wasn't them at fault but the press/Palace but it keeps backfiring on them. They would have got a lot more respect if they'd gone to America, kept their head down and just got on with their lives quietly. Of course that wouldn't have brought the cash rolling in.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 07/03/2021 12:01

@Crinkle77 actually he did definitely imply he did!

James Corden asked what Archie’s first word was, Harry said ‘crocodile’ James said ‘crocodile?’ And Harry said ‘yup, three syllables!’

So he definitely was trying to make out that it was his full first word.

Kinsters · 07/03/2021 12:02

@hedgehogger1

I thought they'd done it all to get more privacy, seems like they're trying to spend more time in the public eye now. I may have missed something though. Not really been interested
They did all this because they wanted to make their own money with commercial ventures. Nothing to do with privacy really.

Yes! This! My mum said it was probably that he'd said his first word to the nanny who told Harry that he'd said his first word and Harry misunderstood.

DinoHat · 07/03/2021 12:16

Nor privacy but an audience on their terms.

HelloThereMeHearties · 07/03/2021 12:20

I give it one year, max, before the American public tires of being lectured by them.

I mean, that already happened a bit when Harry said he was going to start or be involved with some kind of venture to do with sustainable travel.

The shine will come off sooner or later.

Anyway, I guess they're playing a dangerous game with this interview and the Corden funfest. "We will appear in the press, but only on our terms". The American media won't like that any more than the British one does.

Definitely I agree , everything is all great now but what if things are tough . Look at Britney Spears, that’s why I think they are naive about the American media . Can you imagine a few years down the line marriage has its ups and downs and the press will be watching and waiting nobody’s perfect and the media love to show that and that’s all press . It annoys me that Harry goes on about Diana , the press absolutely loved her but yes she had a tough time with them too . It’s typical of all celebrities they love the positive press intrusion but when it’s negative it’s time to sue . Your in the public eye and yet they still complaining. I can’t actually feel any sympathy for these people.
itsgettingwierd · 07/03/2021 12:45

I said to a friend the other day I bet the only bits that's are revealing are the bits we've already seen!

The rest will be 1 hr 59 minutes of waffle.

And I thought most of it was Meghan only?

I can't see Harry slagging off the RG but rather stating they felt it was the right move for them.

Mysterian · 07/03/2021 12:55

"Crocodile"?

My experience of children's first words tells me he probably pointed at a toy crocodile and said "Cock!".

VictoriaLudorum · 07/03/2021 12:59

I think they blotted their copybook a long time ago.
Harry has no excuses at all, he grew up in that environment. It would have been very easy to have stayed under the publicity radar, except for carrying out official duties.
I do not think Meghan had any idea at all what her life/role would be like. It would have been kinder to have eased her in gradually during the first 18 months or so, especially with having a baby so quickly. Plenty of reasons only to do minimal public appearances, plus Trooping the Colour, Remembrance Sunday etc. Instead they seem to have been "let loose" and it all got a bit messy.
I very much doubt that there will be anything remotely "juicy" in their interview, which is very much aimed at a US audience, who have even less of a clue about how things operate than MM did at first.
As others have mentioned, they are probably a bit strapped for cash, although I am not sure how they thought they were ever going to generate enough income to sustain a quasi-royal lifestyle. Sadly neither of them is notable enough, in the real world, to command much attention, even less so now that they have moved abroad.

Redcrayons · 07/03/2021 13:01

I think the bombshell stuff is the the clips we’ve already seen, probably about 10 minutes worth. It’s been heavily edited to make it more dramatic. Is she really going to slag off her husband’s grandmother and father?
The rest will be Oprah blowing smoke up their arses about how fabulous they are.

I have some sympathy, Harry obviously didn’t warn her that it’s not all ball gowns and tiaras. He knows the score.

Dowser · 07/03/2021 13:03

Two privileged whiners..whinging
I’ve got better things to do with my time.
Yott girl got lucky.
Good luck to her

rawalpindithelabrador · 07/03/2021 13:05

Two hours of them playing the victim and whinging about how hard done by they are, Harry going on about his hard life and mental health, Megan's doe-eyed poor me act. Boring AF.

I think there will be some counting how many times she touches her pregnant tummy.
