Does anyone else think that the Harry & Meghan show isn't going to be that explosive?

I really doubt that loads of dirt will be raked, or muck spread. I'm guessing that there will be a few "it was hard to speak" type complaints, which the media will blow up, but that it's not actually going to be as exciting as we're all being led to believe?

I think it's going to be like that recent Britney Spears documentary - that was hyped up to the eyeballs, but when you actually watch it it's really disappointing, there's nothing in it that hasn't been shown before. I think this interview will have a similar vibe, lots of earnest talking, but nothing new at all.

Dentistlakes · 07/03/2021 19:49

I think she entered into the Royal family with a lot of enthusiasm and quite a fixed idea of what her role would be and didn’t understand she couldn’t just do what she wanted when she wanted. Friction between her and the household ensued, Harry got mouthy (‘what Meghan wants Meghan gets’) and it snowballed from there. It was doomed from the outset. However, I don’t think Meghan ever intended to stay long. I think she knew exactly what the outcome would be and engineered her exit like a pro. They are now milking it for all it’s worth.

willibald · 07/03/2021 19:51

@Dogmum81

They always seem to say a lot without actually saying anything so I think it will be exactly the same! Lots of words (2 hours worth) and no context whatsoever! I’ve never known anyone talk so much without having much to say
Yes, very flowery, gushy, overblown language is their MO.

Its like Diana all over again, I cringed all the way through that especially the Queen of Hearts nonsense, I was a year younger than her.
It is another annus not quite so horribilus with not nearly so much drama and hair flicking.

DeadButDelicious · 07/03/2021 19:58

Unless Harry sits down and says the words 'Massive Lizards' I very much doubt it will be as explosive as some folk seem to want it to be.

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 07/03/2021 20:02

If they have real things to reveal - institutional racism - then by all means tell us. Maybe they’re doing it now cos they were under an NDA before. But... they do talk a lot without saying much at all. Like the SA interview was pure cringe. Also unless Harry talks at length about dressing as a nazi and his use of the P word, and they give up their make believe titles, them talking about equality is a bit Hmm but then I’m not a royalist so it’s all bull to me Smile and don’t go taking earrings from a journalist killer. Problem is, at best theyre just like the rest of them if they don’t stop being hypocrites. It’s more of the same, just different names.

TopTabby · 07/03/2021 20:07

I'm genuinely pissed off about Unforgotten!! I certainly know what I'd rather watch.
FWIW, I think it'll be a whingey non event with no bombshell revelations. I'd love to think that Oprah will ask awkward questions but I really doubt it.

I was going to make this comparison too So much hype and the Britney doc was empty salacious speculative rubbish Didn’t even watch it all

@CrunchyBiscs

? If they want to raise money, why don't they give thier millions away? At what point do they get paid, and what exactly for?

To be fair you could say this about many celebs, business tycoons, oil sheiks, tech giants - the bill gates fund so generous - I mean if you've got that much money you are hardly scraping by....and you need interests in life as work is not necessary.

I think you misunderstood my point here.. business tycoons, oil sheiks, tech giants HAVE worked. Have a brand, have a purpose. So, if they plug a chairty its not trying to make them money.

H&M have no skills, and no real life jobs.
The website states some nonsense about compassion, and the chairty with a daft name -
I don't understand forming a chairty to raise money whilst not having any job? They use the "charity" to promote thierselves as a brand, it seems.

Or they could just not make these song and dances, trying to make money off the back of pretend compassion - and give thier own money straight to those who need it.

Your standard oil Shiek isn't talking about monetising chaifty to make his brand.

Hes selling oil.

missbridgerton · 07/03/2021 20:24

It'll be a generous serving of word salad liberally mixed with some snake oil.

They are a pair of spoiled brats.

shamalidacdak · 07/03/2021 20:28

Yes it will all be a big fat nothing. They need Charles on their side for money and royal connections so they can't piss him off too much. The promos are to justify the $7mill spent by CBS and of course Oprah wants a global audience. HandM are using this as a springboard for their brand. Still don't know what their jobs are though. It's all very unseemly and nobody is going to come out of it looking good.

Dee1975 · 07/03/2021 20:32

I can’t see how she will look good in it. She is so deluded in her own ‘I am a victim’ world - where, let’s be frank, she was a z list actress in America before, shes only famous now because of the royal family.
She talks about love and compassion - yet she doesn’t seem to show any to her husbands family, her own family, her staff, lots of ex friends .... etc ... complete hypocrite.

user1471543094 · 07/03/2021 20:33

I really liked them when they got married.
Also really respected their decision to leave the Royal Family. You could tell Harry always loathed elements of it.
But there is just something so whiney about her I can't stand!! 'so good to have a voice'... about what?! What can you say now that you couldn't say then, bar slagging them off. Such self importance. Honest to God no one cares you maybe weren't allowed to do an Oprah interview 3 years ago. It's literally not that big of a sacrifice for the in-laws is it.
A family member of mine is married to someone locally well known. For that reason she needs to watch herself at certain events (ienot get as drunk as she's want mostly!) and cannot give her opinion on a certain topic as people believe it to me his and it'd be reported on. She doesn't whine about it to anyone that'll listen! Obviously a much lesser scale but still.
I wish they would just say ' you know what, we have it a go and it didn't work out' instead of acting like victims aaalllll the time over every.little.thing.

I'd love to hear William's real view on them.

Chamonixshoopshoop · 07/03/2021 20:36

The US audience doesn't care, I don't think many people in the UK will sit through the full 2 hours either.
I do feel sorry for her, but I'm increasingly less sympathetic the more attention-seeking/money-grabbing they become.

This. Not like she was changing the world before and got stopped in her tracks and "silenced".

And agree about the compassion as well. Basically only compassionate if she is getting exactly what she wants.

I get a bit annoyed at myself at how worked up I get about her. I am a normal person in real life!

CloserClarice · 07/03/2021 20:51

Does anyone else just not care about the celebrity industry /neo aristocrats, and what these astonishingly privileged, entitled and rich over-users of planet earth’s resources get up to??

Why did you click and comment then? 🤔

BelleSausage · 07/03/2021 20:55

I think they have been incredibly badly advised. I cannot see a way that this will ultimately work to their favour. Tell all interviews rarely look anything but self serving and tacky.

Same4Walls · 07/03/2021 21:00

I think they have been incredibly badly advised.

As I said earlier surely they do not need anyone to advise them. They are grown adults who have the brains and are perfectly capable of comprehending that it is a stupid idea.

HelloThereMeHearties · 07/03/2021 21:05

I think we saw how bad their judgement is by how they handled Meghan's father before the wedding. All they had to do was fly him over here, hole him up somewhere secure and feed him lots of burgers and beers until the big day. Maybe bung him a few thousand for "expenses".

But no, they left him hanging in the US with no protection, guidance or money... Totally baffling.

I don’t think they take advice. I think they’re going full folie a deux, they make a disastrous move, get criticised for it, then make another disastrous move trying to put it right. It seems like they feel the world is against them and they trust nobody, especially given the allegations this week.
HelloThereMeHearties · 07/03/2021 21:06

Actually, thinking about it, I guess Meghan didn't ever want her father to come to the wedding... he didn't really fit her brand.

The aspect of this whole debacle I'm really disappointed in is the rearing of the race card in all this. I know no-one who was against her at all when they first good together in fact i would say that most British people with an opinion on the matter were really pleased Harry had chosen a woman of colour to be his wife, they were a breath of fresh air, I honestly felt they were going to be fantastic for the monarchy and Britain as a whole and show the world just how multicultural we actually are giving girls and young people of colour a role model. More fool me!!! When I saw the reactions of Woopie Goldberg et al on that 'loose women' thing they have I was so disappointed and upset that they had all got us entirely wrong.

With MM, why say 10 words when 100 will do.

ekidmxcl · 07/03/2021 21:14

H&M have fallen out with too many people. You can fall out with someone, even a couple of people. But when you have fall outs with so many people like they do, it's pretty obvious that they are a big part of the problem.

They have their freedom and they could have privacy which they claim to want. But...they're selling a 2 hour exposé to one of the most famous talk show hosts on earth and it's being broadcast globally for $$$$$$$$. The fact that they're giving this interview, when they could sit in their mansion with total privacy, tells me they don't really want privacy. I don't know wtf they do want, but it sure ain't privacy!
