That's it really. I am (idly) wondering what I'll have, and there seem to be so many great choices - and some terrible ones

Well I'm divorced and didn't have a 1st dance so no personal experience here! But am currently very happy with new DP and if I ever got married again would have Love Is In The Air by John Paul Young. Total cheese fest but the lyrics fit how I feel perfectly and its good to dance to Grin

I love reading the songs on this thread.

Mine was By Your Side by Sade

coldsandinsleepingbags · 24/02/2021 23:39

You're my best friend by Queen

ShirazSavedMySanity · 24/02/2021 23:41

Inner Smile by Texas, fab lyrics

Lochroy · 24/02/2021 23:49

Higher by Jackie Wilson because we definitely did not want anything slow and smoochy. Or 'of the moment'.

I did love Kodaline's The One but it was too slow.

Shut up & Dance was a close second.

caringcarer · 24/02/2021 23:50

She's the one.

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 24/02/2021 23:53

We picked a list of songs we liked, and then went with whichever one was shortest Grin

AmperoBlue · 24/02/2021 23:59

Hold the Line by Toto.

We had been together 14 years. We thought the “ love isn’t always on time” lyrics appropriate!

Tagagzjskva · 25/02/2021 00:04

Not me personally but at Scottish and Irish weddings I’ve heard for first dances:
Every river by runrig
Carrickfergus
The greatest flame - also runrig
Sunshine on Leith and life with you - proclaimers

All worked well

Firsttimemummy33 · 25/02/2021 00:06

Kissed by a rose, seal. Really long song!

YellowOfficeBlock · 25/02/2021 00:12

From this moment by Shania Twain

TheSmallAssassin · 25/02/2021 00:13

We didn't do a first dance, it wasn't that kind of wedding. Our first music was kids' disco stuff, then a ceilidh, then our music. Think the kids' disco bit started with "Wild Boys" by Duran Duran 😁

Pumpkinpied · 25/02/2021 00:41

‘Absolute Beginners’ David Bowie.

ParkheadParadise · 25/02/2021 00:48

We didn't have one, it wasn't that kind of wedding.
My best friend had
Can't Take My Eyes off You
by Frankie Valli

GaryUnicorn · 25/02/2021 00:49

Promise me, by Beverly Craven cracking singer. This was in 1994, so you probably never even heard of her!

Tweacle · 25/02/2021 00:50

Power of love. Frankie goes to Hollywood. Was a xmas wedding. We met at xmas x

AdditionalCharacter · 25/02/2021 20:03

Only you - Yazoo

blowinahoolie · 25/02/2021 20:14

Had a ceilidh and it was the St Bernard waltz.

Wildone16 · 25/02/2021 20:46

All for Love - Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart & Sting (we had a spin in the registry office)
Iris - goo goo dolls (signing our certificate)
Kiss me- Ed sheeran (played as I walked in)

Is there a song that’s special to you? Or has a great memory behind it for you both

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/02/2021 20:48

Dream a little dream by Mama Cass.

spottygymbag · 25/02/2021 20:56

It had to be you.
We did a foxtrot taught to us by a colleague who was also a professional ballroom dance teacher. Fantastic memories of whirling around the directors underground car park in the early mornings before work. We nailed it on the day and have this wonderful photo of a dip that makes me smile each time I come across it.

cluecu · 25/02/2021 21:06

Nobody does it better, by Carly Simon. DH is a huge James Bond fan so that was a loose theme, it's a love song and one of my favourites. We couldn't dance in any serious way though so made sure everyone joined us ASAP Grin
