It wouldnt surprise me if someone was trying to sell the pregnancy story, so M&H put out the information on their terms

What a sad reaction to a couples happy baby news after they Ave suffered a miscarriage. Two threads deleted and this one probably going the same way.
This place really is depressing sometimes.

I don't understand how people can't see the difference between having private letters printed and standing up to bullying articles I'm the press and putting Megan's pregnancy on their SM.

If they hadn't done that they would probably be chased by paparazzi trying to get the first photo of the baby bump and endless speculation and talk in the media about the pregnancy.
They just chose to do it their way first.

So all the people posting about their pregnancies on Facebook and Instagram every day deserve to have their private emails and letters published to the world?

Did they ever say they wanted to be completely out of the limelight and to live as hermits?#
I thought they just wanted more freedom away from Royal duties and rules and to have more control over their lives and what they revealed of their lives.
Is that really so unreasonable?

@LizzieMacQueen

Is Harry still in the line of succession then, I mean if this child is going to be 8th in line?
Yes, he is still in line for the throne. The new baby will bump another prince down the line. Is it Andrew? I forgot who it is.

And about citizenship: Archie is also an American. Both children are automatically American because one of their parents is.

Whiskyinajar · 15/02/2021 11:43

It's lovely news, especially as they had a miscarriage last year.

I'd say the same for any couple after a loss.

And given all the negative news and pandemic it's a lovely happy piece.

Good luck to them,

My post deleted too. Wonder if Mumsnet got a nudge too!

Mummy195 · 15/02/2021 11:46

@morninglive

This announcement is all about promoting their brand as they need to make a living and being SM stars is what it is all about. I don't understand they're professed desire to be out of the public eye, but needing to be there to pay for their lifestyle.

Not a royalist so the whole thing leaves me cold.

They don't have an SM account.

I hope MNHQ deals with individual posters who are trying to derail the thread into negativity and are clearly attempting to get posts about positive news about H&M deleted, rather than just zap them.

Misogyny in the making

Yuck

LetMeBubble · 15/02/2021 11:53

Sorry I meant about how this thread is becoming unpleasant with hints of misogyny

Meghan and Harry are so relatable I’m just so happy for them and so angry that we live in a world that thinks it’s their business to scrutinise others in their personal lives

AKissAndASmile · 15/02/2021 12:10

It's misogynoir

Coronateachingagain · 15/02/2021 12:14

@Mummy195 it is easy to accuse someone of some many things when the proof is gone for everyone to judge upon. I wonder if Mumsnet will also delete your post. They should.

Good. You could not even bear to type Meghan's name could you?
TaylorSwaft · 15/02/2021 12:17

The news is lovely. The sentiment is lovely. What seems to be causing some comment is the photo. And I do understand that.
It's the kind of photo you would have taken and put on your bedroom wall to enjoy privately, maybe show to a close friend. I'm clearly not a global super famous person but I have been pregnant following a miscarriage and it's a whole world of mixed emotions. Given that, their tussle with the press and their personally difficult situation with their respective families it seems an unusually intimate and raw photo to release.
I feel desperately sorry for them - they are caught in this contradictory world of fame and privacy. Their livelihood depends on fame, which of course they should have the right to control. Is a fine line between courting interest and retaining privacy. It shouldn't be so hard but it is.
I'm not sure who advises them on PR but I think they are letting them down - or setting them up.

FlibbertyGiblets · 15/02/2021 12:22

Surely the only response to a pregnancy announcement is how lovely, congratulations?

Sheesh, so much hate, not edifying at all.

AKissAndASmile · 15/02/2021 12:33

I just told DS18 about this thread. He said Mumsnet sounds like the worst place in the world

When it comes to Meghan and Harry-yes.
Kinsters · 15/02/2021 13:03

I think she must have been pregnant when the miscarriage piece came out back in November. It's much easier to talk about miscarriage if you're happily pregnant with your rainbow baby. Let's see though! I expect a summer baby!

Kinsters · 15/02/2021 13:08

Also I didn't know until now that Zara Tindall was expecting again! Saw it mentioned at the bottom of an article about Harry and Megan's baby.

mylovelydd · 15/02/2021 13:09

Completely mixed messages from these two.
On the one hand they press charges for invasion of privacy, on the other they publish a clearly stylised shot of them. All it needed was a worded announcement.

I feel so sorry for Harry because it's as if he's being swept along in this melee where everything that is done puts him in the firing line for criticism. I just don't think he 'sees' it all like most people do. He's lost his judgement.

@EllasAuntie 100% agree

catinbootsx · 15/02/2021 14:19

Why would an 18 year old lad be remotely interested in Mumsnet or any of the crap that we talk about?

They probably aren't but doesn't stop me saying 'listen to this' and telling DS2 (19) all about some of the old cobblers posted on here sometimes. Grin
