@Coronateachingagain

and what charity would like to be associated with them if they react to adversity with a communication like that... Confused
Totally graceless. They don't know the meaning of the word 'service' Well Harry did know at one point but seems to have forgotten. Money and celebrity are false gods.
Plutoh · 19/02/2021 19:14

Fair play to them I say, they should change their branding and forge ahead how they want to, which I thought was what they wanted anyhow. Also fair play to the Queen for not leaving it as a case of picking and choosing, I'm sure a lot of military charities will welcome Harrys support if he wishes, but the 'official' responsibilities it's fair to take from him.

Good luck to them all I say, I hope H&M can now build the life they want, and that the royal family can move forward, whatever that looks like.

Motherdare · 19/02/2021 19:25

I’d have more respect if they dropped their Duke and Duchess titles and referred to themselves as Meghan and Harry Wales or Meghan Markle and Harry Wales or whatever and if they never talked about life in the royal family. Make their way on their own like everyone else. Thing is, their royal status is the only thing they have to hawk, his childhood, his mother, his family and her brief membership of it all. Without the royal story, I don’t see what either of them has to offer but others obviously are wowed by them. Fair enough. But to constantly stab the royals in the back yet live entirely off their connection to them...well, is that any better than what her own siblings have done?

Oh jeez.
How can you say they're up for hawking his childhood and his mother?!
Seriously?!
Awful.
His mum died when he was about 12 and was hounded by the press (thank God there was no FB, Twitter or Mumsnet back then, would have been even worse)
They've spoken openly about mental health, he's said how it affected him.
Or would you rather just they shut up and went back in their box?! Angry

hopeishere · 19/02/2021 19:49

He can't help the family he was born into but you don't see Zara and Peter making such a meal of being non royals.

The thing is they don't want a "normal" life.

Mockolate · 19/02/2021 19:51

you don't see Zara and Peter making such a meal of being non royals.

You don't see thread after thread after thread after thread of people picking apart every single thing Zara does.
Zara brings out a photo, does she get a 40 page thread about how tacky she is, who does she think she is? etc

Zara is no angel as far as using her connections is concerned. However she seems to have great love and loyalty for her family. The last thing I saw her on was a tribute to her mother. She also seems to keep contact with her father despite him being a bit of a shit. She married a man whose nose was completely squashed out of shape. She didn't insist he got it fixed for the wedding.
Roussette · 19/02/2021 20:02

Exactly. I am not going to dish the dirt on Zara but really, it is so different, she flies under the radar.

hopeishere If we're on about Peter do you like his advert with a Palace in the background advertising milk to the Chinese for which he probably earned mega money?

Harry and Meghan are expecting their second child
Mockolate · 19/02/2021 20:05

@Rousette that passed me by, which just shows how much the media covered it.
Can you imagine the threads if Harry and Meghan posed in front of a palace trying to flog milk to to China lol

Roussette · 19/02/2021 20:10

Oh yes absolutely. So I make no apologies for banging on about these other Royals who do far worse than H&M

Coronateachingagain · 19/02/2021 20:18

That comma today - showed their colours - they must be regretting it already oh dear 😳😳😳😳 Don't be surprised if someone in their PR team resign tomorrow - ah that would be bad news indeed, I am sure the Daily Mail is just waiting for it to happen

Mummy195 · 19/02/2021 20:19

I literary just posted an interview of Zara flogging her wares and talking about her RF.

Peter also owns the company that sells the most expensive Covid tests ever seen. Last time I checked he has nothing to do with medicine, and you think he got that how exactly?

No one is losing any titles. Not with Andrew and his non working daughters having titles. People have titles up and down the country including the rock star Duke of Beaufort, drug addict and criminal Duke of Marlborough. The Duke of Richmond is constantly holding society parties and the billionaire Duke of Westminster is not a working royal.

H&M always said they would work with HMQE. They left the job like their cousins, they were never disowned nor did they ever disown their family.

Mummy195 · 19/02/2021 20:20
  • they left the job, to become like their cousins.

You what Grin

Plutoh · 19/02/2021 20:35

I doubt they will regret it, Harry might feel gutted about his military duties, but it wasn't really doable if he wasn't living in the UK anyway, I am sure many military charities will want to still be associated with him if he wants to.

Mockolate · 19/02/2021 20:36

Glad it's not just me lol

Who knew grammar was so powerful.
Kind of like that old saying knowing your shit and knowing you're shit Grin

I really am interested to know why, presumably, complete strangers are so interested, even invested, in this couple?

I asked our 18 year old son today for his perspective. Would you a. Marry the woman you love, raise a family and risk the displeasure of the family firm that you were born into and expected to enter by pursuing the direction you choose or b. subdue to your granny and tell the love of your life if you marry me, I’m public property hereon in and our lives and decisions will not be our own.
Not surprisingly, he chose a.

somethingonthecarpet · 19/02/2021 20:43

Mockolate with all due respect, I think you are either deliberately refusing to acknowledge that H&M have been a bit snibby in their response, or you haven't noticed the nuance.

"We can all live a live of service" means "We can all live a life of service, Queen/Prince Phillip/Kate/William/Sophie/Edward (not sure who exactly the comment is aimed at, but at least one, if not all of these), it's not just you that can". If they could have put an emoji in that statement, it would have been the 'up yours' one nicely positioned after the word 'universal', I'm sure.

I'm sure you'll be hot on my heels to say it means no such thing and H&M have been completely gracious, of course.

Mockolate · 19/02/2021 20:48

He sounds sensible
Any half decent person would go with their husband/wife/family if they loved them.

Quirrelsotherface · 19/02/2021 20:49

I honestly don't see how anyone can truly support this couple anymore. Does no-one think it odd that Meghan's personal wedding guests, seated at the front of the church, were Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney?! People she didn't know well. To me it says everything about what her plan was from the start.

Also notice how the likes of the Obama's won't touch them with a barge pole and even those who were openly supportive at the beginning, Beyonce and Jay Z spring to mind, are awfully quiet these days.
