But can anyone tell me what it is that this Meghan Markle did that she gets more stick than Prince Andrew

I wonder. It is qwhite perplexing.

HeadNorth · 19/02/2021 13:19

There is no way anyone with a straight face can seriously argue that Eugenie gets more stick from the tabloid press than Meghan. I mean, catch yourself on.

FrippEnos · 19/02/2021 13:21

I mean that it was a posed picture of him laying a wreath, done to convey a message and put the RF in a bad light.

Nothing to do with dancing on the graves of solders which frankly is a stupid response.

the American press is just as toxic

This is not true. The US doesn't have anything that comes close to the tabloid culture in the UK. Meghan is on record about how shocking that was to her (can't remember her exact words). I do think it had something to do with their decision to leave.

And before someone starts saying yes, the US has tabloids, etc. We do, but they are not part of the mainstream culture in the US. Most people probably can't even name them.

Roussette · 19/02/2021 13:27

@Mockolate

What do you mean by sad face posing at the grave then?

Linking stuff doesn't always work on MN, I hope you realise that wasn't me that said that

Roussette · 19/02/2021 13:29

If that is what you get from my post then you are the one being ridiculous

You talk of 'sad faced posing' at a grave. What on earth do you mean? What should that sad faced person do? Smile? Dance? Grin?

What do you mean, you were the one saying this.

Anyone with a bit of class and decorum keeps a serious face at a grave so I have no idea what you are meaning

Sorry, I know it wasn't you!
Bloody quote function not being clear - was quoting @frippEnos post

What? That is not what you said. You said 'sad faced posing' whilst laying a wreath at a grave.
Backtracking somewhat there. Don't blame you to be honest

FrippEnos · 19/02/2021 13:32

Roussette

I mean exactly what I posted that it was a posed for picture.

It needs no more explanation that that,

Your need to expand with "Smile? Dance? Grin?" is just being disingenuous.

But I will leave you too it.

FrippEnos · 19/02/2021 13:34

Last post.

I said "posed" not posing. And I am not backtracking you are trying to put a twist on my posts.

Roussette · 19/02/2021 13:36

Ahhhh disingenuous, that word again!

Here is your post
'the sad face posed pictures of harry laying a wreath etc'

And I will leave you to it also.

It's not Rousette, it's you changing what you said. You said they were doing sad faces at the grave, which was rightly questioned as they're hardly going to look cheery or be bursting into giggles, are they.
Skiptheheartsandflowers · 19/02/2021 13:39

Some of those posts sound very nitpicky and point scoring, Rousette.

Nitpicky?
Also known as nobody question anything, we just want to be left alone to spread shit

Well that’s certainly not what the Americans I have spoken to say. With all due respect that is your view only. I most certainly have seen personally some nasty American press articles. Not necessarily about Megan I grant you but certainly about other people in the public eye. And while Eugenie may not have experienced much vitriol Kate most certainly has. I remember it well from when she first met William. Her family have been accused of deliberately switching her university to meet him. Waity Katie and all sorts. It’s perfectly possible to criticise Megan and Harry without being racist. I fully supported them at the start but make no apologies for feeling different about them now.
SageandBlackPepper · 19/02/2021 13:43

I see they have no officially left the Royal Family, which I think will be a good thing for both sides. They can get on with their new lives as Harry and Meghan. I don't think the titles need to be stripped but I hope for their sakes they now stop referring to themselves as the Duke and Duchess or it will hurt their credibility and will just sound pretentious I think.

They do have the potential to be really successful but they have to do so by distancing themselves from the Royal family and not clinging to titles.

stairway · 19/02/2021 13:45

I remember a photographer taking a photo of Kate’s boobs and then another tabloid paper hiring a plastic surgeon to analyse/criticise them ( the boobs)

HeadNorth · 19/02/2021 13:49

Yeah, the queen is besties with daughter kidnapper Sheikh Mo, Andy hangs out with underage sex traffickers, Philip is a racist. It is definitely better for them to distance themselves from that toxic family - I think we'd all want to do the same in their shoes.

Roussette · 19/02/2021 13:49

No.

It's the word of the moment on MN

That depends on what you feel about H&M methinks

Really successful at what though?? Harry's no Einstein.

I think their statement was very off and snarky and unseemly.

I wonder how this impacts on Charles plans for a slimmed down monarchy.

Hopefully the my will have the sense not to do a warts and all interview with Oprah. A bit less self pity would be good.

HeadNorth · 19/02/2021 14:14

I wonder if the queen's friendship with Sheikh Mo, combined with execting a new baby, was the final straw for them.

I am sure the country will cope with a few less ribbons cut and tiny curtains pulled back in any case. If only we could cut a few more of them loose - I'd like to see the monarchy slimmed down to nothing.

Motherdare · 19/02/2021 14:41

Wow, their statement was so passive aggressive.
