@MissEliza

A forum with a well known white supremacy problem. Eh?
Really this is nonsense.
derxa · 17/02/2021 22:04

Given the last time they were accused of faking the pregnancy, I think posters suggesting they could have made no announcement, released no photo, and simply made a quiet statement after the birth are being colossally naive. That's a very good point.

MissEliza · 17/02/2021 22:38

Derxa alright then.

I'm not going to waste my time arguing that somewhere infamous for having a racism problem, has a racism problem, with people who are part of that racism problem, or who have an agenda to deny that racism is a problem.

Exactly this
derxa · 17/02/2021 22:58

@MissEliza

Derxa alright then.
I think you misunderstand me. Mn doesn't have a white supremacy problem. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Does MNHQ know about this?
MissEliza · 17/02/2021 23:47

@derxa understood now. White supremacy is such an American term. Interesting to see it used on a U.K. centred site.

minou123 · 18/02/2021 00:30

Of course white supremacy is a UK term.
Admittedly they are called "fucking scumbags" in my house.

But you know : to-may-to, to-mar-to,

Exactly

The disgusting racism against a Black MN member that led to a Black Mumsnetters section being set up

The 'Is this Raaacist/Am I being Raaaacist'/Is This Cultural Appropriation' faux wide-eyed innocence Posts that are really a dog-whistle for racists to gather.

Type "Mumsnet Racist" into Google - you won't be able to count the sheer numbers of those threads - lots of "My Granny gave me a Golliwog it's just a toy isn't it?" stupid posts too.

Racism on MN is regularly mentioned/discussed on Twitter etc

Thankfully MNHQ took note and in their way do something about the racism. Even if some slips through, it's not so many.

rosetylersbiggun · 18/02/2021 03:21

White supremacy is such an American term.

WOW.

Please, please pick up a book at least once before you die.

Where on earth do you think white supremacy came from in the first place?

Um.....what the? 'white supremacy' is no more an 'American' term than table, chair, Nazi, black, white, feet or apple is.

It's an ENGLISH term used in ENGLISH-SPEAKING nations.

Wtf? Confused

This. Well said.
Mockolate · 18/02/2021 10:36

Anyone who thinks racism isn't a problem on here obviously didn't see the abuse leveled at a poster just for trying to get black mumsnetters up and running.
Awful

Roussette · 18/02/2021 11:31

Mockolate Exactly. It was horrific. And it's a lovely little board, it works, one in the eye for those vile posters who behaved disgustingly.

Just using the word 'interesting' marks this poster out as being disingenuous.

Becles · 18/02/2021 14:03

Because the UK is a post racial society... Racism is a foreign thing and anyone pointing it out is obviously not one of us.

Anyone who thinks racism isn't a problem on here obviously didn't see the abuse leveled at a poster just for trying to get black mumsnetters up and running.

Exactly. She literally had to phone the police for god's sake, it's not just hurtful Internet comments.

One of the posters on the 'other' forum (the one the really extreme racists created after being banned from here - and oh what a coincidence that the most active threads there are Meghan bashing threads) photoshopped a screencap claiming to be of a conversation with the poster who lobbied for the Black Mumsnetters section, where she allegedly 'confessed' to being a previously banned troll, with the intention of sending this faked confession to MNHQ in order to get her kicked off Mumsnet.

That's a tremendous amount of work, and shows an extremist level of spite and vindictiveness, just to punish someone you don't even know for the crime of wanting black women to have their own space, a space the professionally offended literally never have to see or enter or acknowledge at all.

The previously banned troll who used to post as rosewhitetips and then NoTheresa (who's been banned more times that Meghan's had hot dinners) went on Reddit to brag that she'd spent hours google image searching every woman who does a particular job and scrutinising their skin tone - basically giving them the paper bag test - in order to prove that a biracial poster was lying about doing that job.

Then there's the poster who brags about having been banned from Mumsnet something like 20 or 30 times, and to have created dozens of new email accounts so she can keep trying to register new accounts.

The time I called Thomas Markle a liar, and someone made about 20 posts in a row that were just deranged insults, literally just "Rose is a CUNT" "Rose is a stupid cunt" "Rose is a shithead" "SHIT FOR BRAINS SHIT FOR BRAINS SHIT FOR BRAINS" over and over and over again, then within the space of less than 10 minutes three brand new usernames all popped up to post variations on "I'm a long-term lurker but am so appalled by Rose's lies and vindictiveness towards Thomas Markle who's clearly a wonderful person that I felt moved to register on Mumsnet just to agree with [insane poster] that Rose is indeed a nasty lying cunt shithead." Then I got attacked for "making the thread about me" when 95% of the posts were made by posters who are obsessed with me because they see me as some kind of Meghan stand-in they can re-direct their racist hate onto.

Absolutely fucking psycho.

There have also been multiple incidences of black posters being doxxed, cyberstalked off-line, and sent abusive PMs.

Someone actually posted my real name and home address in a Mumsnet thread once, literally just posted "Hi Rachel how's life at 123 Elm Avenue" just as some kind of weird threat to show that they knew where I lived.

It just goes on and on....

C130 · 18/02/2021 15:10

Sorry to hear that happened to you Rose. There are some really nasty people out there.

DeeCeeCherry · 18/02/2021 15:48

rosetylersbiggun

I did hear about this situation. So sorry you had to experience that.

Racists love to dish their bile out, but pull them up on it they'll outright deny racism. Always 'another reason' they 'don't like' someone.

Port1aCastis · 18/02/2021 18:05

How can people be so fucking vile!

That is disgusting and vile behaviour by some clearly very racist and menacing individuals.

I had seen some racist comments and insinuations on MN, but really didn't realise the extent to which posters have been targeted. Which, once again, demonstrates to me that only those from a BAME ethnicity have the right to say whether or not a place is racist.

FrippEnos · 18/02/2021 19:15

I don't particularly care for them, but they were never going to win this one.

Sorry, but yeah, and?! Sounds a bit like a new version of "but I have black friends!"
