Okay okay I’ll tidy the house while it’s quiet. In a minute. Maybe 20.

DWPmisery1972 · 11/02/2021 20:07

Oh also thanks @smallandimperfectlyformed, I’m counting down the days until I get to be with my support bubble this week! Looking after two toddlers with a broken coccyx and an upcoming trial has been the hardest 10 days(ish) I’ve had in a while. Fuckin load of shite so it is.

DrRamsesEmerson · 11/02/2021 20:32

Flowers to everyone else who’s having a hard time, and thanks for the kind words. Today has been particularly bad for a lot of us. I’m pleased to see that Tim Spector is making sensible predictions.

I agree about cats - I’m fond of mine, but sometimes have several of the neighbours’ cats staring through my office window when I’m working. Very unnerving.

@smallandimperfectlyformed, don’t feel guilty about getting the vaccine! Your refusing it won’t get it to someone you feel is more deserving any faster.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 11/02/2021 20:43

Thank you DrRamsesEmerson I know rationally that this makes sense and wouldn't refuse the vaccination but will always feel guilty about something- seems to be an innate part of my personality!

DWPmisery1972 · 11/02/2021 20:52

4 of mine ‘glaring’... nosey gits!!

Thanks everyone. Just had a jaunt round home bargains and Aldi alone. It was quite nice actually. Bought red hair dye on a whim. Probably having a mid life crisis but in my head ill look like a perfectly vintage much less rich version of angel strawbridge.

Going back to random cat pictures. Here is my cat bird watching!

My hairs gone red too, not that DH has noticed!
I lighten up naturally in the summer, and go my darkest at this time of the year which makes me feel a bit flat anyway, so the last few years I've put on a temporary red that jazzes it up and then it fades by the time the sun comes back out.
I'm low maintainence and can't be bothered with roots, so this method works quite well for me.

I'm trying to imagine looking like my name .Grin Hermione Granger in the films is probably a good general gist. I was a hands up swot at school anyway (shame about my own progeny)

Do they do that sort of chirrup thing when bird watching? Mine goes 'Mip, mip' at a high pitch.
Iheartmysmart · 11/02/2021 21:39

Oh @ISaySteadyOn! Ours used to do that. I’d forgotten. It was almost like she was talking to the birds. She also used to walk along the back of the sofa, meow in your face then dig her claws in your head! The dog was petrified of her.

I’m very jealous of those of you with red hair. Tried it once as a teenager and looked shockingly bad. Took the dog clippers to my hair again the other day and think I might be my natural hair colour for the first time in 40 years. Now look like a chubby action man without the cool moving eyes.

flower11 · 11/02/2021 21:40

Yes he's very vocal, has all different sounds and mews. Like he's really trying to talk to us.

mightbealittlebitmad · 11/02/2021 21:42

One of my cats used to make that noise at birds, shadows and light reflections. In all the cats I've been around she's the only one I've ever heard do it.

Hopefully getting the hamster tomorrow, better be anyway because I've told the kids now! Cage is all set up waiting, cat flap in the door locked and has cardboard taped to the inside and the door is locked so the kids don't wander in and let it out when I'm not looking.

Everything is so depressing, things aren't getting better, I've resigned myself to this being life now. Doesn't make any sense long term particularly around education if we want doctors and scientists etc but what do I know.

SirSamuelVimes · 11/02/2021 21:52

Really tempted to get DD a hamster now. How long do they live?! I don't want to stuck with one for the next seven years 😂

Iheartmysmart · 11/02/2021 22:02

I’ve had a few hamsters over the years. My favourite used to love sleeping in the sleeves of my jumper which used to get me in a lot of trouble at the dinner table when she poked her head out to see what was going on. Don’t think I had one that lived for longer than 2 years tops unfortunately.

mightbealittlebitmad · 11/02/2021 22:07

About 2 years which is why I'm getting one, no long term commitment. When the cat goes I want to get a pair of pedigree kittens, undecided for now but it's a choice between Siamese or Devon Rex.

SirSamuelVimes · 11/02/2021 22:11

Two years? 🤔 I reckon I could cope with that. Might look into it.

ISaySteadyOn · 11/02/2021 22:32

@mightbealittlebitmad, Siamese are lovely but they talk a lot and they are loud.

justasking111 · 11/02/2021 22:41

I have been a lot better this week, OH finally relented on grandkids care, so Tuesday I picked up one from school, we played marbles, and lots of other games, gave him tea.

Yesterday had three here which was a stretch, OH got very stressed when toddler started throwing all the games under the coffee table everywhere. We have two types of trivial pursuits games, they are all mixed up now put everything on dining room table will sort tomorrow.

DS was then emboldened to ask me to watch toddler again this morning while he and OH went into office to sort out some business stuff.

I finally got to the vets to pick up dogs prescription, then braved big ASDA which I loathe but they sell the dog food OH normally picks it up very early in the day after walking dogs.

Tonight OH spoke to his brother about his bloody bike riding everywhere which kept him sane and DB in law asked what I did to stay sane. OH then admitted well I had banned her from seeing family but relented this week. Arsehole!!!

My advice for your mental health, is to go out and break/bend a small rule tomorrow and every day and report back here so that we can slaver over your adventures and forays. I nearly stopped on the promenade which was absolutely deserted so few cars, if any of you know just how long Llandudno promenade is you will comprehend how awful that is. I thought I could pretend to be on my mobile with the windows open for the ozone if the police stopped by I would explain that it is the law to pull over to answer a phone is it not.

Do not go as far as the two women did on dartmoor at 2am and fornicate, the police will catch you doing that. Grin

BogRollBOGOF · 11/02/2021 22:44

We were getting the DCs a hamster and fish for Christmas... we haven't forgotten, tier 4 just scuppered us trying to find suitable cages/ tanks. Its a shame because a pet would do DS2 a lot of good right now.

I'd love to have cats, but DH isn't keen. None of his family have pets Hmm

One of the cats I grew up with used to quiver and make strange little noises like laughter as he sat on the windowsill watching the neighbour's housemartins.
Oddly DS2 does the same when he battles his action figures Grin

lashesandflashes · 11/02/2021 22:49

I’m here for Dave. And I’m not sharing!!!

Iheartmysmart · 11/02/2021 22:49

One thing I will say about hamsters is don’t forget they are nocturnal. I used to have to put mine in the bathroom at night with the door shut otherwise she kept me awake running around in her wheel all night! Oh and if you do have a wheel in the cage, go for a solid one. One of my friend’s had a hamster who got stuck in the spokes of her wheel and came to a very unpleasant end.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/02/2021 23:00

My famed police force has moved on from fining for hot chocolates and are mainly amusing themselves with busting people for driving offences and slapping on some extras for travelling from out of area while they're at it. Of course the local paper is reporting it as COVIDIOTS but if the stupid sods had lisences, tax and didn't get into stupid predicaments in the first place, driving 100 miles would not be attracting so much attention.

One slightly odd one was the naked guy pulled up at a beauty spot. In this weather it's bare cheeked bravery! Probably up to no good, and with it being awkward grounds to pin a particular offence, Covid rules are an easy way to get an offence likely to stick.

It's not like my force haven't made themselves notorious so it is a bit daft doing anything dodgy that can also be pinned as a Covid regulations breach on top.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/02/2021 23:02

DS2 is nocturnal anyway Grin
Once he actually is asleep, he's very sound... to the point of sleep walking abd talking...
He might settle off better with some company in the room, or at least stay in there... I hope...

justasking111 · 11/02/2021 23:03

@BogRollBOGOF did not see one police officer or vehicle today, I guess they all had the day off in readiness to pounce all over us at the weekend. Sheesh, what a toy town force they are turning into.
