I am doing spagetti bolognese tonight.

But otherwise i love sundried tomatos and spinach in cream; or prawns in a chilli sauce.

I need some new ideas. :)

We go to a lovely Italian restaurant in Weston-Super-Mare and I always have tortellini in a creamy beetroot and pistachio sauce. I saw a recipe for creamy Cajun chicken. pasta recently, must remember where snd try it out Otherwise, a really lovely pomodoro sauce

Does anyone watch pasta grannies on YouTube?

Not orthodox but spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce ,tuna and loads of grated cheese stirred through 😋😋

needadvice54321 · 08/02/2021 16:43

The carnivores in the family love chicken and chorizo pasta -

Chicken
Chorizo
Tinned toms
Tinned cherry toms
Garlic
Onions
Herbs (I like the Italian frozen ones from Asda!)
Chopped up mozzarella
Sometimes put in some chipotle sauce as well.

Always goes down well with my teenage boys..

Lasagne or red pesto pasta with grated cheese (not parmesan)

JayAlfredPrufrock · 08/02/2021 16:46

@AprilThe8th

That’s my easy tea. Except with a tin of tomatoes reduced down.

MsFannySqueers · 08/02/2021 16:47

A poster on another thread mentioned Nigel Slater’s Chicken, Mushroom and Leek Spaghetti Bake. I made it for the first time on Saturday evening and it was delicious.

Chewbecca · 08/02/2021 16:47

Oh, so many lovely pasta dishes.

We regularly eat:

  • amatriciana (tomato and pancetta)
  • Arrabiata
  • sausage and tomato
  • smoked salmon, leek and cream
  • veggie lasagne, meat lasagne, chicken and squash lasagne and sausage meat lasagne (Mary Berry)
  • macaroni cheese
  • bacon, mushroom, courgette, tomatoes, crème fraiche
  • Brussels sprouts and pancetta (Waitrose)
  • carbonara
  • pesto, green beans and potatoes
  • chicken, broccoli, onion, chilli, garlic and lots of evoo (my own invention)
DrCoconut · 08/02/2021 16:48

Peppers and mascarpone sauce.

Chewbecca · 08/02/2021 16:48

I forgot pancetta, Savoy cabbage, pine nuts and mozzarella (Jamie O)

SpiderGwen · 08/02/2021 16:49

So many ace ways to eat pasta, I could live on it.

  • blue cheese sauce and steamed broccoli with penne
  • a quick puttanesca
  • slow cooked mushroom ragu
  • a homemade bolognes with beef for the carnivores and lentils for the veggies
  • carbonara
  • a pasta bake with roasted aubergines, tomatoes and lots of garlic topped with yogurt with an egg yolk beaten in, and dotted with feta
  • garlic infused olive oil and wilted greens like spinach or kale, and plenty of parmesan
  • caci e pepe
  • canneloni tubes stuffed with spinach, ricotta and parmesan and baked in pasata

King prawn linguine. We used to go to Giraffe and theirs was lovely, but our local restaurant has closed now. Sad

Morrisons used to have a nice ready meal one, but they changed the recipe a while ago and it's nowhere near as nice any more. Annoying.

Chewbecca · 08/02/2021 16:51

Oh yes, with prawn, sun dried toms and leftover leaves (rocket etc) - Nigella

MarshaBradyo · 08/02/2021 16:52

Seafood linguini

Love Pasta Grannies! I even have the book. Some of the dishes on this thread are an abomination. Pasta Grannies would not approve! Grin

Gingersnaphappy · 08/02/2021 16:54

spaghetti alle vongole

doadeer · 08/02/2021 16:54

You can see why Italians would think the way we make pasta is an abomination 🤣

Remind me of those videos of Americans making a cup of tea in the microwave

notalwaysalondoner · 08/02/2021 16:57

As a quick one I love smoked salmon (trimmings aren’t too expensive) with creme fraiche, and peas, lots of black pepper, hint of lemon juice. Can add parsley if you have some.

I also love Bolognese but no one makes it like my mum, I certainly can’t. And carbonara is awesome too.

pastapestoparmesan · 08/02/2021 16:58

Macaroni cheese, but not with bechamel sauce. I far prefer it with creme fraiche, loads of green veg (kale, broccoli, peas, leeks...), maybe bacon, cheese mixed in and on top, and panko breadcrumbs on top.

justlonelystars · 08/02/2021 17:00

Oh god I love pasta so much and pregnancy has made me love in 1000x more

Cacio e Pepe - so simple but so good
Wild boar ragu
Butternut ravioli
Linguine with crab, chilli, garlic and parsley

I made this weird Frankenpasta once with all the stuff left in my fridge and it’s now my husbands favourite dish...mushrooms, ham, garlic, cream, white wine, basil and a ton of Parmesan and black pepper.

And of course the humble lasagne/bolognese/Mac and cheese will always have a place in my heart and my stomach.

MessAllOver · 08/02/2021 17:03

Chicken alfredo. So delicious and quite simple to make

rossogingerale · 08/02/2021 17:06

shameless place marking, these all sound amazing!

I need to know this restaurants name, that sounds amazing
funnyoldonion · 08/02/2021 17:12

I adore pasta, I'm going to buy a pasta maker for my birthday after my friend raving about hers. Also, I'm going to try that sundries tomato and spinach one this weekend, excited!

PoptartPoptart · 08/02/2021 17:17

If you like macaroni cheese you HAVE to try this recipe by Gino D’Acampo..
www.goodto.com/recipes/gino-d-acampo-s-macaroni-cheese
IT IS SERIOUSLY GOOD!!

SinkGirl · 08/02/2021 17:20

Carbonara was my favourite but since I’ve learned to make it properly, sage butter is my favourite. I used to just use butter but that’s wrong - equal parts butter and stock (veg or chicken) heated and whisked until starts to boil, add fresh chopped sage leaves then a load of parmesan or grana padano, salt and black pepper

It’s so delicious but bad for you obviously. Having it tonight with tortellini - takes less than 10 mins to cook the whole meal and tastes amazing
