What weird thoughts do you have?

Walking around my bedroom just now, I suddenly became aware of the downstairs part of my house underneath the floor. I know it's there all the time obviously but the thought just popped into my mind that there's another level underneath.

Tell me your weird thoughts please!

I have loads. Can't think off the top of my head, but I've been a mumsnet user for years. And it dawned on me the other night that if someone starts a thread about something, you are kind of changing the course of a total strangers day/evening in a way.

Bluewavescrashing · 04/02/2021 02:18

Ooh I like that.

Kinda creepy isn't it? 😂

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 04/02/2021 06:14

My friends son said this

"Do you know how pooing is the end of digestion? And how your heels are the end of your foot? Imagine if we'd evolved to poo from our heels"

Erm. Ok.

Bluewavescrashing · 04/02/2021 06:48

In a way it would make more sense to poo out of your heel. Less messy.

On a similar note, your digestive system is really on the outside of our body. If we could open our mouth and all our sphincters are the same time we would be like a giant polo or ring doughnut.

I sometimes think that if I had the energy, time or means I would be able to convince attractive male celebrities to go out with me MUAHAA..not really..ok really 😎 x

NeverHadANickname · 04/02/2021 07:46

So now I am laid in bed thinking that I am actually suspended over my dining room 😶 there is a whole room of empty space below me. And then a basement below that! I had never really thought of it like that before.

AmandaHoldensLips · 04/02/2021 07:48

I sometimes wonder if the entire universe is actually microscopic and everything as we know it fits in a teaspoon.

Fckingfuming · 04/02/2021 07:58

😂 at all these random thoughts. My adult DD the other day made me laugh, DH had been watching an alien film, and then started watching a fishing program not long after. She said what if alien abductions were the aliens just fishing for humans like we do carp etc. Makes sense in a daft sort of way 😬🤣.

Tequilasun · 04/02/2021 08:03

Ooh I like the alien fishing theory....

barretbonden · 04/02/2021 08:03

That my house is actually sitting on Earth, on rock and soil. If you scrape away the concrete etc there is just ... the planet, underneath me, right now.

Alwaystired4 · 04/02/2021 10:32

Or i wonder how many of my neighbours are curtain peepers...but I've just never caught them?!!! 😳🤔🤔

Fckingfuming · 04/02/2021 12:32

@Alwaystired4 at our old house one 'nice' man admitted to having a pair of binoculars bought purely for looking into people's windows. Avoided him like the plague after that and have since moved (not related)🤨

WantChewbaccaForGood · 04/02/2021 12:38

"What if our skulls were eggs and the brain turned into something and hatched?"

pinkunicorn20 · 04/02/2021 13:02

When I cant sleep (which is often) i find myself thinking about how strange it is that everyone around me is asleep. Then how strange sleep is....its the only thing you have to pretend to do, in order to do

Mine is... I have a mum, who had a mum, who had a mum, who had a mum, who had a mum, etc, etc- this whole long line of women having baby girls which stretches back for thousands of years, back to when we were cave women. However, I have had three baby boys so I have stopped this chain of girls having girls in my family. I think I have understood that right!

But not all of your female ancestors have always given birth to daughters. Some will have given birth to sons, who had children with women from outside of the family...

(I hope! Otherwise, erm...)

Or perhaps I misunderstood your comment?

Deinosavros · 04/02/2021 14:31

Similar to your point OP, the other morning DD was complaining that I'd woken her in the night by flushing the toilet. It occured to me that there was simply a wall between the toilet and the head of her bed. So when she is sleeping the poor kid's head is literally inches from the toilet (albeit through a wall). I'd never thought about it before.

This post made me think of a thought that I find mad and fascinating at the same time.

It blows my mind that the egg that made me was in my Mum's ovary, inside my Nana when she was pregnant.

And the egg that made my DD was inside of me, inside of my Mum when she was pregnant.

And if my DD chooses to have a child, the egg that makes that baby was inside me when I was pregnant with her.

I love it Grin

I have ocd (diagnosed and medicated) of the intrusive thoughts variety.

Mine have been varied, scary and probably quite amusing with hindsight.

2 of my stranger ones are, worrying about gravity ceasing to exist and panicking about floating away. The other is the moon crashing into the earth and the subsequent damage caused.

Mummyratbag · 04/02/2021 17:10

1FootInTheRave I had that very dream as a child - I can still remember it vividly 40 + years later. The Earth lost it's gravity (it was on John Craven's Newsround) and we all floated up to the sun and got burnt and dropped back to Earth like charred cartoon characters and end up in dustbins like TopCat... I think I may have been watching too much TV.. it was quite disturbing at the time..

I have had that for years, it’s a thousand times worse when stood beside tall buildings - I end up feeling quite ill with the thought that I might float away . Parts of Glasgow, London etc are a total no go - as are theatres, arenas etc .

I used to have an odd thought at night that the earth might split in two or stop spinning and my mum would be stuck on the other half !

My worst thing is lifts . I can’t forget that there’s nothing underneath and nothing above .

icecreamgirl94 · 04/02/2021 17:31

I sometimes find myself thinking about all the missing people in the world and wondering how many of them I’ve walked last either before or after they went missing.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/02/2021 18:06

@1FootInTheRave I also have OCD of the intrusive thoughts kind and get panic if I think about gravity. I also get the same feeling if I think about islands and being cut off from help. My brain extrapolates that out to Earth being an island and being in the middle of nothing with no help.
