Welcome in ADs. Snuggle up hygge-style 'cause there ain't much going on out there for a while... except rain.

I haven't got a pussy of my own for gratuitous showing off, so I shall pretend to be Dr Evil with Mr Biggleswade Grin

Today feel really tough for some reason. Not helped by the rumours that we will still be in lockdown of some description until May. How they can justify that if numbers keep falling as they are I don’t know. Flowers if you need them.

110APiccadilly · 29/01/2021 11:52

Excuse typos - ironically, I am pinned down by a slightly sleepy, grumpy post vaccine DD who has decided today is the day to feed all morning, I assume because she's feeling a bit rough.

Just sat hear thing about that. They've said nothing will open up until schools do. And the row between the government and unions about that will go on and on and on
Nomnomarrgh · 29/01/2021 11:56

If we’re going to turn into 1984 I’m happy to be a pleb. They were allowed to think whatever they wanted.

NastyBlouse · 29/01/2021 11:56

Fingers crossed for you @LivinLaVidaLoki

@dingit That is some lurid purple vinyl seating right there.

I scoffed three massive cookies yesterday the squidgy ones that come in baggies of four from Sainsbo's bakery section and feel annoyed with myself. I've been avoiding that kind of thing and had lost a little weight since Christmas in pure numbers terms, but my body fat percentage has stayed the same so I've probably just lost muscle. Which appeared to be the perfect excuse for a huge biscuit.

I am very much enjoying all the pet pics. I would love a cat, had one growing up, but DH is allergic and he isn't a cat person either. Dogs are on the wishlist for when we move -- probably greyhounds. I walked a neighbour's greyhound last spring when he and his husband were ill with covid and I was very taken with it.

DWPmisery1972 · 29/01/2021 12:15

Just picked the kids up from their dads after a 12 hour night shift, and my miserable doom and gloom mother in law is paranoid as fuck that I’m going to somehow give her covid (I work in domiciliary care with the same client each week, she’s been vaccinated, I wear PPE, and I’m tested weekly) and she just wouldn’t stop going on and on at pick up. We don’t get on at the best of times, and my caring side came out and I tried to reassure her that numbers are improving and once we are out of winter things will be miles better, but she wouldn’t have it. So I took the kids for McDonald’s for lunch because I haven’t slept for 40 hours and I couldn’t be arsed to make a mumsnet quinoa salad with avocado hummus blah blah carrot healthy lunch. So nerr. Now I have to listen to power rangers and try and cap nap while the kids trash the house... wish me luck!

DWPmisery1972 · 29/01/2021 12:16

That should have been cat nap... can you tell I’m sleep deprived?

Iheartmysmart · 29/01/2021 12:18

The whole schools debacle is becoming ridiculous. Are they now saying that it’s not the fact teachers are at risk, it’s taking the virus home and passing it on to other vulnerable family members that is the issue? Surely that’s how it has been for key workers from the start? DS is no longer in education but I’m bloody cross for those of you who have school aged children.

If you would like a cat that behaves like a dog you can't beat sons ragdoll cat. Strangest sight. When school comes out he's on the wall or at the gate waiting for strokes and attention. He's there every day. Gorgeous pet

Seriouslymole · 29/01/2021 13:14

@NastyBlouse - I can thoroughly recommend a retired racing greyhound. They are very chilled out.

@110APiccadilly - thank you - yes I think that is my thinking - I would like to facilitate those that want to have it.

Re. nobody moaning about missing their hairdresser: I'm certain that there are some illicit haircuts going on, by professional hairdressers. Maybe a few home visits involved. And not just in the police, but the honest, hardworking, taxpaying public.

Is this why Saint Boris keeps having messy hair? So people don't think he's breaking the roolz?

More and more "HM Government" posters are appearing on bus stops near me. They are so desperately crying out for a picture of Boris subtitled "Look me in the eyes, while I swear that wholesale destruction of jobs, education and mental health is the right thing to do."

NeedWineNow · 29/01/2021 14:09

@Iheartmysmart the Foos in New York? Concert envy! I saw them at the London Stadium about 3 years ago - they were amazing! I was hoping they'd tour to coincide with their 25th anniversary and the new album. Next year maybe to coincide with my 60thGrin

BogRollBOGOF · 29/01/2021 14:10

Nah, he always did scruffy schoolboy hair. More amusing now the stress of PM is affecting his hairline/ thickness Grin

Also, every time I see "100,000 dead", I immediately follow it up with: "and lockdown didn't save them".

I shan't bother posting that over there, though; their retort will be "because it wasn't a proper lockdown".

Iheartmysmart · 29/01/2021 14:25

Have to confess that I bought some clippers to do the dog during first lockdown but he’s got a really thick coat and it took me hours. Then I tried them on myself and now sport an all over number 5 clip. Sometimes bleached and other times left my natural brown/grey. Saves me £70 a month and 2 1/2 hours at the hairdressers!

They were awesome @NeedWineNow! Saw them at Madison Square Garden. Might have been part of the same tour you were at? Can’t wait to see live music again.

theThreeofWeevils · 29/01/2021 14:41

We were looking into a small tank for DS1
Failing that, the understair cupboard would probably work ok Grin

Iheartmysmart · 29/01/2021 14:54

Well I now want one on these! But wouldn’t keep my DS in it. He can make do with the dog crate.

The under stairs cupboard would be a cool choice for DS1 if you can’t get a big enough tank!

I’m missing eyebrows waxing, even after 20 years of waxing, mine are still full. If I didn’t bite my nails I would have manicure monthly. If fact when the colleges go back, I am going to the beauty school part and have my hair straightened and have a manicure. Going to live dangerously.

Willow2017 · 29/01/2021 15:34

@MercyBooth

Simon Jones *@SimonJonesNews* · Jan 26 31 Metropolitan Police officers who had their hair cut by a barber at Bethnal Green Police Station are facing £200 fixed-penalty notices for breaching Covid-19 regulations while on duty. The two officers who organised the cuts are under investigation for misconduct
The organisers should be issued with £10k fines as per anyone else organising meetings with over 30 people. Like those poor guys with the snowball fight. Wonder of any of the police will pay thier fines or hope they get lost in the already clogged up system for years? One rule for them...

Oh and thanks for new thread i dont do MN much now as its too hate filled but i check up on here regularly.
Nothing much doing in my neck of woods. Bored to tears and playing xbox is highlight of my day!
Hope everyone is KBO through this massive mess we are in.

Weneedmusicandtheatre · 29/01/2021 15:41

@Iheartmysmart

Flipping heck! DCat’s picture appeared and now DDog is jealous because he didn’t get a mention so here he is.
Oh he’s a stunner

I can't get over how many teachers there are that don't seem to want to fucking teach. They are clutching at straws now. Lots of families have working parents/ parent . Me going to work is more risky for my family than the children going to school, and they haven't seen grandparents for nearly a year. They are not risking anyone.

I'm so angry at how long this might drag on for, children need to be in school.

ISaySteadyOn · 29/01/2021 16:07

They do.

I am tired of having to advertise my multiple disabilities when I go into a shop. It's humiliating. I don't want to have to explain my heart, my dyspraxia or my autism. I just want to exchange money for goods.

110APiccadilly · 29/01/2021 16:20

Weren't the Harry Potter books written solely to encourage children to sleep in the understairs cupboard without complaining?
