Someone has posted a tiny bag of white powder through our letterbox!

Confused

Me and DH are freaking out a bit. At about 10pm we heard the letterbox go while we were watching TV but didn't immediately check it. We've just got up to head to bed and it's a tiny little ziplock bag (like 50p sized tiny) with white lumpy powder in it Hmm

We're going to have to call 111 in the morning arent we? Really freaked and going to struggle to sleep now!

What the actual fuck Confused

StopCryingYourHeartOut · 23/01/2021 23:06

Blimey it's just a little bag of drugs put through the wrong door, any need for the drama really. Just put it to one side and go to bed Confused

PeanuttyButter · 23/01/2021 23:06

DM once found a few wraps of white powder in the local cemetery. Put them in her pocket to dispose of later/hand in to police. Forgot about them. Only realised about a month later that she had been walking round with drugs on her person ,🤣

Whatisthis4 · 23/01/2021 23:06

Do not repackage it and put it back out! You will look like YOU are dealing! My god...

busface999 · 23/01/2021 23:07

Similar happened to me a couple of weeks ago! I wonder if we live in the same street OP Grin

In my case it was only cannabis. Looked to be about 10 pounds worth, nothing major. It wasn't posted but was left close to our door. I destroyed it. My mind did run wild a bit imagining my house being targeted afterwards but nothing has happened. If I were you I wouldn't contact police. If it's illicit you're currently 'in possession' , although obviously unintentionally. I wouldn't want any trouble or attention.

Just flush and forget.

ritzbiscuits · 23/01/2021 23:07

Oh OP your post has made me giggle. 😂

Do nothing, go to bed, probably have some weird dreams that you've ended up in prison for trafficking drugs, in the morning bin it outside!

SionnachRua · 23/01/2021 23:08

Home delivery gone wrong. I'd stick it at the back of a drawer for a few days in case anyone comes for it.

Ginfordinner · 23/01/2021 23:08

I'd be inclined to go onto the local police website where they have a "Report Something" option, and post on there. South Yorkshire police have an online portal where you can report something, so I'm sure other police forces will have the same option.

londonscalling · 23/01/2021 23:09

Why don't you let the police know what has happened ASAP (to cover yourselves). Then ask their advice as to what you should do if they knock on your door for it!

BananaPop2020 · 23/01/2021 23:10

This should definitely be a case for contacting the Police. This might be a key part in any number of different things. I understand why people don’t want to have trouble on their doorstep, but is pretty sad the amount of posters who are prepared to turn a blind eye to this sort of behaviour.

Grin I didn't think of this.
MakeWorkYourNewFavourite · 23/01/2021 23:11

Hide it in a cupboard. When the apocalypse comes, you and Mr. Goody-Goody can have yourself a little line!

sofiaaaaaa · 23/01/2021 23:11

@Ihatemyseleffordoingthis

I'd put it in a sealed envelope and keep it by the door

Though it is very unlikely anyone will come asking for it. How do you imagine that conversation would go? er hi, I think I dropped off some Class A by mistake, it's for Joyce at number 32....

You sound naive. A drug dealer would be more aggressive. However the drug dealer themselves wouldn’t be dealing with this, they’re not trying to shine a light on their criminality and they’ve already been paid so it’s a non-issue for them.

It’s the customer that will come knocking, if anyone. They may not necessarily care about being discreet about their habits. I’m imagining it’s students or young people rather than “Joyce at 32”

Crinkle77 · 23/01/2021 23:12

@Dobbyhasnomaster

I would put it in a cupboard for a few days, see if anything else happens in that time, and if it doesn’t then throw away and forget about it.
I wouldn't throw it away just in case they come knocking and want it paying for. At least if you've still got the goods you can just give it back. Highly unlikely that they will but there's some brazen fuckers out there.
hashbrownsandwich · 23/01/2021 23:12

Op, my first husband was part of a gang who did this years ago. They would post to addresses and if they didn't seeem to mind they would make bigger drug shipments and shit really went fine in the end.
Call 101 now please.

HibernatingTill2030 · 23/01/2021 23:14

I'd be concerned someone will knock and ask for it.
If they do, I'd give it to them to avoid trouble.

Sorry but you sound naive to believe that it could only have been intended for students or young people. There's loads of middle aged people that do it.

HarrysWife · 23/01/2021 23:15

Can’t you leave it outside on your doorstep? Please dont leave it outside incase a local cat or dog eats it. I remember a story about squirrels that found buried cocaine a few years ago. Feral as fuck when high.

smashedadvocado · 23/01/2021 23:15

Chuck it back outside.

ParkheadParadise · 23/01/2021 23:17

Keep it and if you're ever skint and on the bones of your arse sell it.😂😂

deste · 23/01/2021 23:17

I found something similar when I took the dog for a walk, I picked it up and told a friend to let him know what I found. He asked why I had picked it up because I was now in possession of drugs. He wasn’t interested even though he worked undercover in the drugs dept. I got rid quickly.

movingonup20 · 23/01/2021 23:18

Call 101 now, better still call the local police number, they will come and fetch it. Most likely a case of wrong address and courier won't be back

HibernatingTill2030 · 23/01/2021 23:18

Although I'm also shocked that dealers do a door to door delivery service! Perhaps I'm naive!

PrtScn · 23/01/2021 23:18

I think it depends what it is and how addicted the intended recipient is as to whether they come knocking or not. Desperate people can do some silly things, and might get a bit disgruntled to find you've disposed of their fix. I'd personally keep hold of it at least until after the weekend, and phone the non emergency police number for advice / to log it in case there are any repercussions.

sofiaaaaaa · 23/01/2021 23:19

@Crinkle77 that wasn’t my point, in my experience older people aren’t as adept with tech to arrange this. This isn’t your standard drug deal

I don't understand- your ex-husbands gang would post to random addresses? Why? Why did it go fine in the end?
