Confused

Me and DH are freaking out a bit. At about 10pm we heard the letterbox go while we were watching TV but didn't immediately check it. We've just got up to head to bed and it's a tiny little ziplock bag (like 50p sized tiny) with white lumpy powder in it Hmm

We're going to have to call 111 in the morning arent we? Really freaked and going to struggle to sleep now!

What the actual fuck Confused

So if drug dealers are doing contactless drop off, are they taking online payments?

How would they do that, PayPal?

Familyshopper · 26/01/2021 08:23

What ?

thegreylady · 26/01/2021 08:29

Ok please will someone explain the term”county lines” to a bemused OAP still struggling with where Greater Manchester ends and Lancashire begins or Merseyside etc. County lines are very blurred these days.

EBearhug · 26/01/2021 08:31

I imagine whichever way they do it (cashless transactions,) that it looks legit and can be fully laundered. A post upthread said a taxi service was used round their way, and even in lockdown, I guess some journeys which are essential are still made by taxi so they can get away with it

MacDuffsMuff · 26/01/2021 08:51

@thegreylady In very basic terms it's the trafficking of drugs by organised gangs from cities out to smaller sometimes rural areas. They use dedicated mobile phones for it and recruit kids to carry drugs for them. It's a massive problem in the UK.

I'm going to guess bitcoin or similar
Lweji · 26/01/2021 09:18

@Localocal

Put it in a paper envelope and tape it to your door with the words "delivered here by accident" written on it. Then if someone comes they won't have to knock.
Great idea. Only, the bags will have to be filled with flour or sugar, now.

This. And it’s cannabis as well as class A.

If you have an amusing harmless party drugs habit, is it still harmless if your children, or their friends, get recruited into carrying drugs for dealers, and drawn into contact with people who aggressively do not have their best interests at heart?

Or is it only ok if other people‘s kids are involved?

Here's a good local article for you:

I had similar - went to put the bins out about 11pm caught some dodgy geezer trying to knock up the elderly neighbours. Wasn't that with it, couldnt string his words together, stumbled off trying to ring someone and went over the road where he picked up an envelope and left. (he mixed the numbers up - say 73 instead of 37) I'd say flip your door numbers round and you'll know who ordered it!

If someone knocks for it - tell them it's £50 a bag! 😂

HibernatingTill2030 · 26/01/2021 10:59

Why would they knock on the door if they dont know you? You could work for a branch of the police

People PHONE the police when people steal their illegal drugs to report them, so we're not dealing with the brains of Britain!

"County Lines" originally referred to the burner phones used by the pushers, I believe. Nothing to do with actual county boundary lines. It's a term used by law enforcement now to refer to anything related to the grooming of vulnerable people forced to sell drugs across the country.

What does coke smell like?
moulhikeepingkidsafe · 26/01/2021 11:32

keep it safe by the door for 48 hrs. That way if a dealer does knock and ask for it, you can give it back and sleep easy:) If Police call, show them a photo of the packet, hand written note and say you were planning to hand it in, when you have a chance.

Or... having given it to the police... keep a photo and nice handwritten note to the drug dealer. Grin

"You know you'll be put in the Police to watch list, don't you?"

😂

CaraDuneRedux · 26/01/2021 11:53

This thread really is like groundhog Day (or cancel the cheque)!

OP phoned the police and they collected the sample - days ago!

Teasgonecoldagain · 26/01/2021 13:30

@AnxiousWeirdo

I laughed at that too. Because of course criminals phone the police and handover their drugs Hmm Unless its a double bluff!?

You people have very little imagination.

Clearly there are drugs being distributed in the area. It's not unreasonable to think they may try to deliver again, or to houses nearby, as it was delivered by mistake.

(but it was phrased as a joke, and slightly teasing the OP. See reference to looking for two people waiting for hours in a parked car, as per many past threads on MN.)

It smells delicious 😉
Buttybach · 26/01/2021 15:25

I imagine it smells like the men's toilets in the stock exchange in the 1980s!!!

Lweji · 26/01/2021 17:21

It can't have a very distinct smell, though, or the woman in that documentary about the two hit men, the boxer, the restaurant robbers and the delightful pawn shop, wouldn't have snorted heroin instead of coke.
