Someone has posted a tiny bag of white powder through our letterbox!

Me and DH are freaking out a bit. At about 10pm we heard the letterbox go while we were watching TV but didn't immediately check it. We've just got up to head to bed and it's a tiny little ziplock bag (like 50p sized tiny) with white lumpy powder in it

We're going to have to call 111 in the morning arent we? Really freaked and going to struggle to sleep now!

Honestly OP I wouldn't bin it, or at least not tonight.

It's not even 11pm on a Saturday night, so someone might be brazen enough to knock.

Leave it on your doorstep and forget about it. I expect they'll be back for it whoever they are!

Well no harm in hanging on to it for a few hours in case anyone asks for it I guess, I can't see anyone coming for it but if they don't you could have a cracking night

I'd also probably tape up my letterbox in case anything else arrives!

It’s 2021. The police have live chat services manned by non-officers these days who can provide advice. OP wouldn’t be taking resources away from anyone else

I'd be a little torn. I don't know how much drugs cost, but I wouldn't be keen to have someone knock (or try to break in) to get it back.

I'd consider putting it in an envelope and taping it to the front door so they can get it if they want.

But I would also kind of want to kill the person who did it! Can you imagine if a pet or child got ahold of it?

I wish people would stop advising the OP to put it on her doorstep. Anything could happen to it.

Foxes/cats might get hold of it or it might blow away and a kid could pick it up in the morning.

Do any of your neighbours have kids in the Scouts? Wrong address? We’re forever having bags of weird stuff left on our doorstep for Scout-related schizzle.

Highly unlikely I know.... but I ordered some of that fake, add-water, snow from eBay. Price was excellent. Turns out someone bought a large quantity and then put small amounts in wee baggies and posted them out. No letter, no invoice. My sister-in-law was very confused when it appeared. I'd forgotten to warn her.... so - I vote fake snow! #innocentoptimist

Put it in a bag on your doorstep with a note saying no thank you. Then you don't have to worry that they will come back and knock.

No one's coming for it. In that little bag it's not worth the risk of asking you for it back. You said it was an hour or so ago, they know it's gone to the wrong house by now and haven't come back so you can sleep easy. It's just a home delivery gone wrong.

This would worry me too! I'd put a note on my letter box "delivery driver, parcel delivered incorrectly, please reach into letter box to collect parcel."

Yep also this. I would keep a hold of it in case someone knocks the door tonight. Also for the "dodgy looking neighbours" comment it would amaze you the amount of "normal" people who do Coke. ( I don't btw but the amount of well educated people I know with really decent jobs etc who do Coke is actually quite unbelievable)

For all they know they just dropped drugs into someone that could be a police officer etc - there’s no way they’re going to knock on for it and it doesn’t sound very valuable
