Confused

Me and DH are freaking out a bit. At about 10pm we heard the letterbox go while we were watching TV but didn't immediately check it. We've just got up to head to bed and it's a tiny little ziplock bag (like 50p sized tiny) with white lumpy powder in it Hmm

We're going to have to call 111 in the morning arent we? Really freaked and going to struggle to sleep now!

What the actual fuck Confused

I'm amazed at all the people saying "smell it, then you'll know" or "taste it to find out if it's good" like how the FUCK would you know what it's supposed to smell/taste like unless you'd used it yourself at some point? It's not like they bring bags of coke into Y10 PSHE to teach you how to taste drugs to find out if they've gone off or been cut with drain cleaner or whatever. I'd have no idea what it was.

Ok, let's say it apparently smells or tastes like a thing I've never smelled/tasted before, but that could just mean it's a bag of mashed up white chocolate coco pops for all I know.

NannyGythaOgg · 23/01/2021 23:50

You can report to 101 online. If they're bothered they'll get back to you pretty quickly. If not, nothing lost.

UndertheCedartree · 23/01/2021 23:51

@sofiaaaaaa - it would only take a phone call - hardly high tech!

Mishmased · 23/01/2021 23:51

@sofiaaaaaa

Nice to know drug dealers offer contact-free delivery, taking the pandemic seriously I see! enjoy your night OPWink
Sorry op this is so funny 🤣🤣 @sofiaaaaaa
PeggyHill · 23/01/2021 23:54

I think you should report it to the police.

You say you are very anxious about this and law abiding, so I don't see what else you can do.

If it were me I'd hang on to it for a bit in case someone came knocking, but I'm not especially anxious about stuff like that and I live in a pretty dodgey area so I would feel that was the safest option as I think there would be a reasonable chance that someone would come looking for it.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/01/2021 23:55

Glad you found it before your DS too Op Thanks

User38385463 · 23/01/2021 23:58

The people who ordered it won't come knocking as it'll be too much of a giveaway. Especially if this is in London then LOADS of perfectly normal, professional people in their 30s & 40s do coke. Doctors, surgeons, dentists, bankers, lawyers, business consultants, media types etc.

They'll be pretty annoyed the order went missing but most likely reorder than risk anything stupid like ringing around the neighbours with their face on show. I'd personally not have bothered with the police and just kept the baggie for a few days on the very unlikely chance someone was looking for it, then binned it.

fairynick · 23/01/2021 23:58

I would keep it for a couple of days in case they asked for it back. And if not then either use it or flush it.

drspouse · 23/01/2021 23:59

@HarrysWife

shocked that dealers do a door to door delivery service

I used to do home visits for work on a rough estate in Manchester and there were frequently 9/10+ year old boys on bikes going round doing drops. They would just ride their bikes up peoples paths and have a quick chat while they did the handover, or post it through. The police used to do hourly drive through's of the estate to keep an eye on things and you knew when they were driving up as you would hear someone shout from their doorstep (usually a fully grown adult stood smoking/watching the world go by).

Probably liked the 9 year olds as they are under the age of criminal responsibility.
ElizaLaLa · 24/01/2021 00:00

I'd wipe it before handing it over to the police. I'd have just left it outside, taped to the window ledge or something The drug dealer might remember where they posted it, even if it's the wrong address to where it was supposed to go. If the police find their prints on it, and they get nicked, they could come back to see you.

Yohoheaveho · 24/01/2021 00:01

I think it highly unlikely that either party in this transaction will return, they won't want to identify themselves to you!

LickEmbysmiling · 24/01/2021 00:02

I'm burning with curiosity about the poster who said her ex husbands dad or something did this and increased shipment size but it was all fine in the end Confused

Please come back and tell us what this means Grin

OakSnow · 24/01/2021 00:06

Well done for phoning, can’t believe some people were advising not phoning the police! And I wouldn’t have been able to wait until morning either, so we’ll done. Say you live at number 10, you’ll be forever wondering about your neighbours at number 10 in the next street over!

I think people are joking.
Alternista · 24/01/2021 00:26

Well I’m deeply heartened to read that drug dealers are embracing contact free delivery and social distancing so fully. They could really be one of this pandemic’s few winners if they play their cards right- after all we’ve fuck all else to do of an evening these days! Wink

Hope you sleep well OP.

TiersForFears1 · 24/01/2021 00:27

Only phone 111 if you intend to use the powder.

Staffy1 · 24/01/2021 00:41

Ask on your local facebook group if anyone was expecting it

InTheDrunkTank · 24/01/2021 00:42

Is everyone else trying to imagine the excuse you'd try to make if your drugs has accidentally been posted to your neighbour and you wanted them back?

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 24/01/2021 00:43

I am not a lawyer but it occurs to me that taping it to the front door could be offering to supply (see www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1971/38/section/4 4(1)(b)) and hanging onto it in case someone comes around for it could be intent to supply. These are serious criminal offences that carry very long jail sentences.

OP, you have done the wisest thing by calling 101.

PickAChew · 24/01/2021 00:51

I'm sure we had this thread a few months ago.

axile234 · 24/01/2021 00:51

Maybe it's a dealer out on a recruitment drive. And he'll call back later to see if you need more. Try a bit in your fairy cakes . Better still empty it into the milk . And watch the whole house go off it's head

SoulofanAggron · 24/01/2021 00:53

Only phone 111 if you intend to use the powder.

Eh?

I would let the police know @UmmWTF As it could be anything.

Makes a change from 'I took in a delivery for my neighbour and they haven't collected it'... Grin
Ohbuggeroffcovid · 24/01/2021 00:54

Times are tough. Dealer might be touting for business with a few free samples.

Like Nic-o-Tine from the old superman anti smoking adverts (shows age)

notacooldad · 24/01/2021 00:57

Just flush it and forget about it
Do not flush down the loo!!
Personally I'd probably put it in a poly bag with a note saying ' nowt to do with m🤷‍♀️*" and use duct tape to stick it your front door!
