Or are you happy with your lot? Smile

A second reception room
Another loo/ bathroom
An extra bedroom

In other words a big extension ☺️

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 23/01/2021 17:05

Spare bedroom
En-suite in our room
Utility room

HazeyJaneII · 23/01/2021 17:05

I'd own it
It would have a bedroom for each child
It would have 2 bathrooms
(And if the genie was being kind and offered a 4th wish, it would be by the sea.)

HazeyJaneII · 23/01/2021 17:06

...actually 2 toilets, we can manage with one bathroom, but my god the arguments about the toilet.

CompleteBarstool · 23/01/2021 17:11

It wouldn't be rendered (it needs re-rendering and is going to cost a fortune to do)

Bigger master bedroom

All the half finished jobs to be finished!

We moved last year so our house is a work in progress so aside from the usual decorate to our taste
Realistic (things we hope to do over the next 5 years):
extend the kitchen slightly so we can put in some more storage. The previous owners didn’t really extend the back to its full potential.
Change the separate toilet which is right next to the bathroom into a laundry cupboard
Put a toilet in the top floor bathroom

Unrealistic:
Bigger garden so we could have an outdoor cabin for a little gym for DH
Rear access to the garden
Off street parking
These are all out of our price range in our area. Love our road and the house itself. It is a Victorian and still has period features.

The physical house
My front door...have an edwardian house and a crappy wickes front door..
The windows...rubbish white pvc would like double glazed wood sash..
Built in storage...not a cupboard in the house and still fireplaces so non metric wonky walls....even the floors are wonky so wardrobes need wedges ...
Ideal...
Then a much bigger garden and/or view my neighbour to actually have a fence it collapsed years ago do we now just have rotting fence panels .
Would like to move for bigger garden but have good neighbours mainly and local friends so staying put for now

Resurface the front drive and build a new, shorter wall to turn it into a double drive.
Turn the garage into a utility and downstairs bathroom.
Extend the loft so the tiny ceiling is higher and we don’t have to stoop!

The first two we will do in the next few years, funds allowing. The third I don’t think is even possible!

GreenSlide · 24/01/2021 04:31

A proper garden
Some storage space
Room for a freezer (!!)
And a bonus - if the rat who visits our roof space could find somewhere else to scurry around at night.

Thankfully we are moving out next week Grin hello garden and freezer, goodbye rat 👋🏻

Bloodybridget · 24/01/2021 04:42

No damp patches; make it ground floor, first and second rather than basement, ground and first; better kitchen layout.

MrsDThomas · 24/01/2021 07:20

The walls in the original part of the house are 1m thick, i have 2 doorways which are2m thick so making the rooms bigger us a no-no.

When we extended it was great, but looking back there are many things I regret not doing.

Toilet in the utility
Bigger bedrooms for the kids -even 1m each way would make a difference
Bigger bathroom
Brighter kitchen

And i can still go on! But over all its a lovely home 🏠

YetAnotherWalk · 24/01/2021 08:08

Flat garden rather than terraced, bigger porch, bigger 3rd bedroom

TeenPlusTwenties · 24/01/2021 08:29

Even more sockets.
Our house was a new build, and they tweaked various things for us (at a price but cheaper than doing them afterwards). The main thing we regret is not having even more extra sockets all over the place.

curtaincalll · 24/01/2021 08:31

Bigger bedroom for dd2, convert garage into additional living room. Add extension. We have planning permission to do the latter two in the next few years. The first isn't possible unfortunately.

LickEmbysmiling · 24/01/2021 08:32

Extend kitchen so we can eat in there more casually, we can't eat in there at the moment.
Loft conversion.

A proper drive, car parking spaces.

Zenithbear · 24/01/2021 08:43

Triple garage instead of double.
Our own woodland at the end of the garden.
Renew the bottom gate at the end of the driveway (hopefully sometime soon)

I wouldn't change the size of the house as we downsized and that was the point.
Nor the location and the views are amazing.

CarnageAtThePancakeRace · 24/01/2021 10:09

I would:

Knock the rather large ugly concrete shed down and have a smaller (nicer looking) one built, though I know this would only happen if dh got over his love of motorbikes, highly unlikely so he needs to die or something ....only joking 😀. That would create more space around the upper garden for the wheelie bins, and free up space on the main patio.
Main patio needs re laying 👀 at dh..
Chances of any of that, zilch, unless he croaks it before me.

I’d also have the conservatory rebuilt, or make it into an extension so we can use it all year round. Chances of that, zilch.

Knock down the wardrobes in the back bedroom and have functional storage instead, to house a desk, and a place for the printer. Also, get shot of the storage bed and buy an inflatable bed for visitors, use the rest of the space for a sewing table and stuff.
Chances of that, Doable.

EternalOptimist7 · 24/01/2021 10:14

Definitely a downstairs loo as we fight over the bathroom
More storage space
New carpets upstairs as everything was done on the cheap by the previous owners & the carpet is pretty awful
There’s quite a lot more but I do like this house & feel much more at home than I did in our previous property.

Twisique · 24/01/2021 11:04

Remove covenant saying we can't extend, extend enough for a utility room.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 24/01/2021 11:13

I would need more than 3. So as much as I really like the street I stay in, I'm not happy with my lot, but ut will need to do for now.

Katinski · 24/01/2021 11:26

I rent.
Really lovely location, adapted bungalow with attached garage, power points everywhere BUT the NE facing bathroom in the winter is hellishly cold, so....larger and longer radiator, please.

RavingAnnie · 24/01/2021 13:12

It's location, the uneven floors, nowhere for a second bathroom.
