Or are you happy with your lot? Smile

Bigger rooms, a garden, a driveway/parking space at least, space for stuff that others have like a dishwasher, a drier, a kitchen table, space to put more than 2 plates down in the kitchen at once, storage space, another bedroom, a useable hallway, sealed windows that don't let the wind in, less lethal stairs, a decent door on the bathroom, a new loo..... the list is endless.

I'm irrationally jealous of people I know who get council housing with gardens and loads of other features. We are lucky to have a mortgage and a roof over our heads but there's no denying it's a tiny, crappy house.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 22/01/2021 22:34

I would do what I planned to do 3 years ago!
Change it from lounge diner to kitchen diner. Convert integral garage into a room and utility. Bung a conservatory on the back!
Upstairs is 3 good bedrooms and a single and 2 bathrooms. The downstairs doesn't match!

CoffeeRunner · 22/01/2021 22:34

A 4th bedroom.
A bigger driveway.
A utility room.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/01/2021 22:35

The state of the back lane
I'd add a shower room
Id recarpet (planned but don't want to do it til our v.old cats die)

MillieEpple · 22/01/2021 22:36

Ooh. Tough one. Bigger third bedroom probably as I feel my son is missing out compared to his brother and i would owe it to him.
But really I want a nice bootroom

pickyomix · 22/01/2021 22:36

Knock through downstairs and bigger kitchen/diner. Then doors out to the garden which would be levelled. Utility area built into side return.

I'm pretty happy with the rest.

shiningstar2 · 22/01/2021 22:37

Knock through kitchen and utility
bigger 3rd bedroom
Add downstairs loo

thelegohooverer · 22/01/2021 22:39

I’d keep my house, more or less, but make it bigger and put in built in storage in every room. Ultimately it would be a similar size to now, but without any visible clutter.
I’d have a ground floor storage space with all my Christmas decorations, a laundry room upstairs with a pulley line and I’d convert the attic. And cunningly concealed would be a small chocolate guzzling panic room with multiple entrances so I can hide from my family often occasionally.
Can you tell I’ve given this a lot of thought?

EveningOverRooftops · 22/01/2021 22:39

My own bathroom. A studio/workshop space. To be sharing it with someone.

totiredtocaresixk · 22/01/2021 22:41

Husband/kids/spare room for me!

wintertime6 · 22/01/2021 22:42

Separate utility room
Walk in wardrobe and en-suite in master bedroom
More space and storage in general

Thankfully we will hopefully get these things one day as we have just started to build a house 😀

ILoveAnOwl · 22/01/2021 22:44
  1. renovations finished, 2) position 3) husband also living in it 😂
Msfoxy17 · 22/01/2021 22:45

@Sway19 no you don't have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom but you do have to get down a steep flight of stairs...usually several times at night. Wince.
On the upside I love the location, house has character and the garden is a delight, also with nice views.

LogBasketOfDreams · 22/01/2021 22:47

New kitchen including removing a central bar which I walk around 20,000 times a day.

Painted again throughout - it has been 8 years.

I'd flatten it - it's currently three floors - I'd love the same space in a bungalow...

33goingon64 · 22/01/2021 22:48

Overall content but would change upstairs windows which are small, set high up in dormers so DC can't see out their bedroom windows and we have to stand on tiptoes to see out front. I suppose we could apply for permission to deepen the dormers and set the windows lower but I doubt we'd get it as we're in a 60s estate and all houses are same at front.

FabulouslyFab · 22/01/2021 22:51

Oh I would swop my kitchen and living room round so that my living room faced south into the garden.
Definitely need more storage space. It’s a two up two down mid terrace new build less than 12 ft wide - and it has a roomy down stairs loo ... crazy. I used it as a cupboard ... The stairwell could be utilised to create storage space as well.
And a conservatory.
But I rent from a HA so I’ll dream on ...

Artinsurance · 22/01/2021 22:52

I’d have 2ft extra on the bedroom
New roof
Oak floor in the sitting room

Walkingthedog46 · 22/01/2021 22:57

Plot not on a slope
House rather than bungalow
Not on an estate

madameMscastle · 22/01/2021 22:58

I would like to turn my house round so the sun hits the front of the house in the mornings, also i want to turn the cellar into a games rooms and add a utility room.

bluechameleon · 22/01/2021 23:00

A drive - parking is tricky and not very close to the front door.
Bigger back garden, big enough for a couple of mature trees, a climbing frame, a vegetable patch and a pond.
Slightly bigger bedroom for DS1. When he moves from a toddler to single bed we are going to struggle to fit in a wardrobe, chest of drawers and book case.

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 22/01/2021 23:02

Walking in wardrobe
5th bedroom
Less trees so I can have signal for sky or other internet provider than stuck with one

FrangipaniBlue · 22/01/2021 23:02

Bigger garden
Dining room/bigger kitchen
Extra room dedicated purely to fitness

Dartsplayer · 22/01/2021 23:06

Downstairs toilet
Change the layout of downstairs
Own driveway instead of shared

longtompot · 22/01/2021 23:09

So much but it's what we saw when we first viewed it. I do like it as it is, but all the following would make it perfect.

New hallway. Current hallway is tiny and such a pain when more than one person it's trying to get out.
A downstairs shower room.
An en-suite to our current bedroom
Convert the attic to our future bedroom
Change current dining room and sunroom to a large bedroom for our ed
Conservatory off the kitchen which will be our dining room.

What we can't change, but if I could.....I would say my neighbours for a few things, but on the whole they are good neighbours, so I'd rather keep them. Better the devil you know and all that.
Remove the flats behind so I can see the sunset, and not have to listen to the loud mouth on the (illegal) balcony on his phone. Or listen to whatever crap he is watching on the tv while his double doors are open.
Have the neighbours at the start of the road either move or suddenly realise having all the rubbish in the front garden isn't a great thing. Does depress me every time we walk home.

Illy605 · 22/01/2021 23:14

If want new carpets throughout and tiles in kitchen/bathrooms.

Shower built into guest bathroom. When we (used to) have guests, they need to use our en-suite as guest bathroom only has a bath tub.

A bigger, more enclosed garden. Ours is quite small and half taken up by a driveway. Also low fences, I’d prefer 6/7 foot for privacy.
