(2 )Trevor Deely, disappeared walking home from a Christmas party in 2000.

(3). Raonaid Murray murdered yards from her home. She was only 17.
Never been solved.

@Robbybobtail

I’ve been reading up a bit about Billie-jo Jenkins as it brought back the case when a pp mentioned her but I had completely forgotten about it - I can’t believe it was 24 ago.

I find it astonishing that “Mr B.” wasn’t looked into more thoroughly. I can’t seem to find any explanation as to why he was disregarded as a suspect? He was mentally unwell, was right near Billie’s house at the time of the murder (several witnesses) was acting erratically and was later found to have some kind of obsession with bits of plastic bags (he had a pieces of one in his trousers and also shoved up his nose, as did Billie, inexplicably).
It seems to me he was a very likely candidate so WHY did they discount him? Does anyone know?

I think Mr B had a good alibi. I read Sion Jenkins book, and whilst he came across as pretty awful even writing about himself, the timings didn't seem to work. He just popped in and battered her round the head and left again without anyone noticing anything? It say much about him though that his ex wife believed he was capable of doing such a thing and pretty much left with the kids. He blamed this on the police giving her that idea, but eg for my DH I'd not believe he could just murder someone like that, no matter what the police said. Rosemary West believed it.

Has anyone wondered about the Falconio/Joanne Lees trial? I really do wonder what happened to him and what actually happened.

BorderlineHappy · 23/01/2021 20:52

@Incyra i dont think she had anything to do with it. The right person was put away for the crimes

It has all been brought up again with a recently 3 part documentary. They want to bring it to a re trial again. I do think Joanne may know something more but I don't think she did anything to him. It must be awful for his family having no idea where he went/is.

For those wondering about MH370 - here’s a very long but brilliant piece on it from The Atlantic

www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2019/07/mh370-malaysia-airlines/590653/

It’s believed it was a suicide mission and that the pilot changed the cabin pressure so that everyone onboard was unconscious when the plane was driven into the sea at great speed, basically obliterating the aircraft. Read the article if you’ve got time, it’s brilliant and really well researched.

OliverBabish · 23/01/2021 22:29

For my three:

  1. I’d like to know who Ivan the Terrible really was - was it the guy put on trial in The Devil Next Door? If it was him, it’d be a brilliant example of real sociopathic behaviour (his behaviour at the trial particularly)

  2. the Delphi murders. I’ve followed it since it hit the news and I’m gutted for the girls and their families that there are still no answers. Poor police work.

  3. Meredith Kercher. I don’t have an opinion on the case, but after all the controversy, it’d be nice to be able to know

I wonder where his body went ?

I saw a documentary about it last year. Very interesting.

Maybe Joanne Lees will tell the truth one day. What's in it for her to keep her silence ?

Asha Degree. Best theory I've read is that she was groomed but the groomer met her at her front door/in her driveway, transported her somewhere, and something happened and she got away from him temporarily.

The Panama girls - there's a ton of evidence to suggest they didn't simply get lost in the jungle.

Jon Benet Ramsey. The actual method of killing was so brutal and involved at least a degree of pre-planning (she was strangled using a homemade garotte). I agree it had to be someone in the house.

On the other hand there's nothing remotely mysterious or strange about Elisa Lam, just deeply tragic.

Dugee · 23/01/2021 22:57

Susan Cadieux - not so well known over here but heart breaking.

@rosetylersbiggun

I agree with all your three summaries.

If anyone interested in mysteries/true crime wants 2 days solid reading down a rabbit hole on the dutch girls Lisanne Froon and Kris Kremer case (Lost girls in Panama), may I recommend:

koudekaas.blogspot.com/2019/12/the-disappearance-of-kris-kremers-and.html

a 4 part blogspot, the detail is astounding. I thought when I saw the case mentioned on here years ago, it was simple in cursory reading, before I saw the photos which are so eerie and looked further. There was also a documentary made by Kinga Phillips on discovery which also reached shady conclusions. And the Kremer family retraced the girls steps, that's on YouTube.

I’ve read that she has a profession now. With so many unanswered questions I suppose she wants to keep out of it.
