Mine would be
(1) Philip Cairns, disappeared in 1986 from Dublin. He was 13

(2 )Trevor Deely, disappeared walking home from a Christmas party in 2000.

(3). Raonaid Murray murdered yards from her home. She was only 17.
Never been solved.

So many, Gregory Villemin, Jonbenet Ramsay and Madeleine
McCann for starters. But also Jill Dando, Claudia Lawrence and Susie Lamplugh. And I'd love to know where Keith Bennett is and who else the Yorkshire Ripper killed / attacked.

AlternativePerspective · 21/01/2021 12:54

I suspect the answer to Andrew Gosden’s disappearance is a lot closer to home than we like to think.

Not that any of his family did him any harm, but that he intentionally ran away from home and possibly had plans in place for staying undetected.

A lot of teenagers run away from home, and families are rarely going to admit that things were so difficult that the teenager perhaps felt they had no choice.

I read an article about someone once who ran away when he was 16, and was traced quite by coincidence in Spain when he was 28. Even then, he didn’t want his family knowing where he was, he only gave permission for them to be told he was alive.

I wish I could remember the name of the poor boy, around 4 I think, in the US who was taken out of school early by his mum / stepmum who spent the day doing fun things with him before killing herself. No-one knows where the boy is. She left a note saying she has made sure he was safe but will never be found.

Ormally · 21/01/2021 13:00

Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry. Still no updates - possibly no starting point. That news disturbs me so much. I briefly worked with a very close family member of theirs.

Labobo · 21/01/2021 13:02

@AlternativePerspective - but then why didn't he empty out his bank account? Why didn't he pack more clothes? He was intelligent enough to plan ahead.

And what was so awful that he had to run? I got the impression he was badly bullied on the school bus, and his family had no idea of the extent of his unhappiness, but they themselves don't come over as wicked so why not let them know he is safe? I so hope he is OK. I had a huge soft spot for him. Looked like on e of my DSs.

I got chatting one day to a homeless young man on a city street. He was very polite and well-spoken, a little quaint and awkward. Didn't seem to be on drugs. He had a stack of books beside him that he was reading through. He was trying to raise money for a night in a hostel. I gave him the change I had and came back later to give him more but he'd gone. Afterwards I wondered if it was Gosden. He looked like an adult version of him might.

Although sadly I don’t believe Andrew Gosden ran away to start a new life, it does sometimes happen.
This 14 year old girl went missing and then turned up 20 years later.

There's so many isn't there.

I think finding Keith Bennett's body and burying him with his mother would be high up on my list.

pistachionuts · 21/01/2021 13:07

The disappearance of Ruth Wilson is another one where I think it’s completely plausible she’s still alive somewhere just living a new life

From a selfish point of view Billie-Jo Jenkins as Sion Jenkins' parents live on the same street as my parents and when he was released to their house my dad was regularly mistaken for him as they look very similar and was accosted by reporters.

I have met all three of them and just want to know!

PatchworkElmer · 21/01/2021 13:13

@RustyParker Timmothy Pitzen?

ChezLuce · 21/01/2021 13:19

This is the Ruth Wilson story. She got a cab up a hill and then disappeared after recently discovering her mother had committed suicide when she was 4 rather than dying in an accident as she'd been told

Sandra Gant, from Essex.

Such a very ordinary case. So many lives could, and do, end up that way.

The family are in my thoughts, and have been for years.

She mattered so much, in an everyday way, shopping, local streets, shops, gifts, ideas, Christmas, Easter, love, family.

FelicityWhiskers · 21/01/2021 13:56

@Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear I think it's widely accepted that Sion Jenkins killed Billie isn't it? He certainly behaved really oddly both before and after

ChezLuce · 21/01/2021 14:18

Yes, after reading this account by his ex wife I know who I think killed Billie-Jo Jenkins www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/billie-jo-in-an-extraordinary-attack-on-her-ex-husband-lois-jenkins-says-he-was-violent-and-a-liar-466364.html%3famp

MummytoCSJH · 21/01/2021 14:42

Sorry I'm obsessed with true crime and I have a few, including lots already mentioned.

The disappearance of Allan Bryant jr. I don't know why this case stuck with me so much. I really feel for his father. I'm not on facebook now but when I heard of the case I joined his Dad's group and saw his posts and I felt like I had been gutted, couldn't stop crying for ages.

Lindsay Buziak.
Barry and Honey Sherman.
Asha Degree.
Relisha Rudd.
Robert Wone. Strange, strange case.
The Yuba County 5 - another really weird case.

I really want to find out where Robert Fisher is!!

ElinoristhenewEnid · 21/01/2021 14:47

April Fabb
Luke Durbin
Amanda Duncan

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 21/01/2021 14:56

Kyron Horman. So bizarre and heartbreaking for his mother.

Adviceneededalways · 21/01/2021 15:32

Thought of two more who according to Reddit and the digital spy forums could definitely be linked...

Penny Bell and Jean Bradley...

Both stabbed in a frenzied attack a few years apart in London...

Both cases are terrifying and so sad to read.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/01/2021 16:27

Sion Jenkins probably did do it but I just want confirmation I guess. I remember when I met him post his release wondering if I was looking at a murderer.

AlternativePerspective · 21/01/2021 16:37

- but then why didn't he empty out his bank account? Why didn't he pack more clothes? He was intelligent enough to plan ahead. because perhaps it would then have been to obvious?

Maybe he wanted to disappear, but didn’t want it to specifically be a runaway story, iyswim.

Perhaps he knew someone who helped him hide until he reached adulthood and could then make his own life.

Once someone has been gone for a few months maybe even a couple of years, people just wouldn’t recognise them in the same way and join up the dots...

Biscoffaddict · 21/01/2021 16:38

I saw a documentary once about Penny Bell’s daughter. She has blocked out all of the memories from before her mum was murdered and can’t remember her at all. It’s so sad.
