@danblack87 - I think it is meant to be the last one, definitely.

@Gally123: That is good to know. Work does seem to have picked up a little bit back end of last month/this. So I shall see how I go regarding a further claim after this one on Saturday.
@Chrissols: I hope work picks up for you tomorrow.

feeling a bit fed up, DICT8 has been hit and miss today, Tpro has little as well and those are not in the specialties I feel comfortable doing long letters even with voice recognition as sometimes I wonder what "language" or "dialect" the computers are locked into. I prefer the shorter letters. Glad it is Friday and there is a glass of (red) wine waiting for me later.

@Gally123 Dict8 has been extremely quiet for me again today, two tasks all day. Not done too bad on TPro, but I, like you, tend to prefer the shorter ones unless they are in the specialties I am familiar with (fortunately I seem to be getting more and more of them)

@Chrissols - recently on TPro it has been a lot of cardiac backlog, which I ignored and then this week orthopaedic backlog, which I also ignored. Up until now I have tried to do my 150 minimum letters, except for the weeks when I informed them in advance that I was taking time out, but since Christmas I have done very little as there has been few new dictations.

Chrissols · 22/01/2021 16:09

@Gally123 This is the first week I have done 150......they have told me all they are looking for is a minimum 200000 characters per month, which is much better for me as I would never keep up with 150 letters a week

@Chrissols - I might make that this month, but with the lack of work the first week of January (which was their end) and then I took time out last week I do not think they can complain if I don't make that number. Ignoring all the backlogs which I could not do there was a lot of times when I logged on and it was blank.

Chrissols · 22/01/2021 16:29

@Gally123 I don't think they will complain at all, they seem very easy going and are just happy for any you can do. One month I only did 100 letters in all, they were absolutely fine about it and said 100 was better than 0

@Gally123 You must have been hitting your bonus target with Tpro if you have been doing that many letters a month.....I don't think I will ever get my bonus 🤣🤣🤣

@Chrissols - ha ha ha, those of us on the lower voice recognition pay scale do not get bonus payments!

@Gally123 Oh heck, seems a little unfair doesn't it

@Chrissols - just a matter of timing when my application/recruitment was halted - I might have been on the higher pay scale with bonus if things are moved just a day or two quicker before they paused things. However, that's life.
But I am keeping my eyes open to see what else is around. Not heard from Medscribe yet.

Very interested to find this thread. I've been "signed up" with Dict8 for quite a few years now but, by the time I passed all their red tape entry requirements, I had started getting my own freelance work again so have never had to work for them. I am still officially signed up with them and lately work has dropped off a lot (private medical practices) so I have thought I might have to work for them and am considering it for if I really can't manage on what I get now myself. They have emailed me twice in recent months to say they had lots of cardio work awaiting typing. I am going to read through this and last thread at my leisure to see what the reality is like with them. I wasn't very impressed when I signed up with them to find that, although I have loads of experience in almost all medical fields (been a med sec for 43 years and lots of that in temporary work), they would only countenance me doing cardiac work. Seemed a bit odd.

Do you all manage using a laptop or have you got desk tops?

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork 43 years!!!! Good grief that is a long time. I think you will find that most of us have experience in a lot more than they have signed up up for sadly and there is no budging them. Work has been very thin on the ground recently (well for 12 months just about) for understandable reasons, and no sign of things changing for a while, although we did have a flurry over the Christmas period so I'm guessing that's when you will have received one of your emails. At the end of the day, so long as your typing is good they are quite good to work for (they soon let you know if you have made a mistake), although the pay system is a bit archaic to say the least. You have to send an invoice every month, and this has to be by post, emails are not accepted, and then you wait for your check to arrive in the post and have to bank it, sometimes it can take up to 10 days.

@Curlykris it's a matter or preference, I use a desk top but there seem to be more that use laptops, some don't even use a foot pedal but I couldn't cope without mine. It's all just what suits the individual.
