Good Morning all Dict8 ladies

Had a nice email back. They know about the problem and are currently trying to fix it Smile.

Gally123 · 01/05/2021 18:13

@flutterby18 - oh that's good.

flutterby18 · 01/05/2021 18:22

@Gally123 - I know, I tried typing a couple of letters earlier, but it's so time consuming trying to type with it like that. Let's hope they get it fixed soon Smile.

Cherryblossom114 · 01/05/2021 23:12

Hello All,
I was just wondering does anyone know how many typists Dict8 employ at present. Just curious, still waiting to hear from them.
Love and light.

Chrissols · 02/05/2021 07:34

@Cherryblossom114 last I heard it was around 4500 but don’t quote me on that, I asked the same thing on here and that was the reply

Good morning,
That many for real...does that include proofreaders, leaders... thats more than enough to run a hospital 🤔 Do they hire and fire or just hire ? I cant find much about the company on the internet about staffing turnover

Gally123 · 02/05/2021 09:34

@Cherryblossom114 - according to the details they send out, they will terminate the contract of anyone whose typing is not up to standard, after warnings, the same as other companies.

Chrissols · 02/05/2021 09:36

@Cherryblossom114 I have never actually heard of them firing anyone, but who knows. They have a lot of hospitals on their books. I am assuming it does including proofreaders, not sure what leaders you mean though? As I say, I asked the question on here so am really as much in the dark as you.

@flutterby18: nice one. Seems okay this morning but I have only typed 2 Grin

Cherryblossom114 · 02/05/2021 09:59

Thanks. Leaders... I am including management. The hospital I worked for uses Dictate-It the work is sent abroad and we upload it once it comes back. Ive tried contacting them but no joy. Its like the secret service. Lol. Guess I will wait for Dict8 the application seems pretty straight forward.
Good weekend all, love and light

danblack87 · 02/05/2021 12:08

I have had work this morning and the spell checker/dictionary seems to have been sorted ... yeah!!

Gally123 · 02/05/2021 12:29

I had problems logging in!! The link/icon I use every day would not work. Has to google and start from fresh, managed to log in but no work so unable to check sound and spell check. Will try again later.

danblack87 · 02/05/2021 15:01

@Gally 123: I had the same thing as you ?some sort of security going here? Once on the task bar though all okay.

musicismagic333 · 02/05/2021 19:36

I've only just got my pack, had to wait two months from when they said they'd send it. Due to Covid etc I guess.

Curlykris · 02/05/2021 19:57

musicmagic333: I've just got my pack too after a long wait!

musicismagic333 · 03/05/2021 14:44

I've ordered a foot pedal and think I'm going to get a keyboard as well. This laptop keyboard drives me nuts!

Gally123 · 03/05/2021 14:56

@musicismagic333-yes, I use a separate keyboard as not all the keys on the (Dell) laptop one work....

danblack87 · 03/05/2021 15:14

@musicmagic333: I have a separate keyboard - can't bear those piddly little laptop ones!!!

musicismagic333 · 04/05/2021 10:00

Just out of interest, does anyone use a mechanical keyboard. One of the doctors gifted one to one of the secretaries at work and I quite like it, but they are much more expensive.

Chrissols · 04/05/2021 10:07

@musicismagic333 I have never heard of a mechanical keyboard? What are they?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 04/05/2021 10:16

@Chrissols - I think a mechanical keyboard is the type used with a tower computer, it is separate, it is what I use. You can buy them for as little as £10.

Chrissols · 04/05/2021 10:23

@Gally123 oh, well I already have one then as I use a desktop pc. I thought they must be something different.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 04/05/2021 10:25

@Gally123 just googled it and this is what it says
A mechanical keyboard uses a mechanical switch that is placed under every key to record each keystroke that you make. ... An ordinary PC keyboard, on the other hand, uses a rubber dome and membrane to allow for the depression and recording of the key

I don't really understand what it means or what the actual difference is - does it make any sense to you?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 04/05/2021 10:28

@Chrissols - apparently a mechanical keyboard is louder when you type. A laptop keyboard is softer, so is not mechanical. That is my understanding anyway.

Chrissols · 04/05/2021 10:34

@Gally123 oh I think I understand now (takes a bit to sink in), yes, my keyboard is definitely louder than a laptop
