Pay with Dict8

Good Morning all Dict8 ladies

OP posts:
Chrissols · 04/03/2021 13:36

@flutterby18 I applied to WeType not too long ago. I cannot remember now if I had to type 4 or 5 test files, all a good length. I am pretty sure they were transcribed perfectly, only to them be told they did not have any openings in my speciality, which was actually what they had been advertising for at the time?! I tend to agree with @Gally123 in that I think they are getting a bit of free work done at our expense. Having said that, they could be okay to work for, I cannot comment on that as never got that far, and their rate of pay seems to be pretty fair. Maybe give it a go, no one can force you to stay with them if you don't want to

@flutterby18 - if you do give it a go and get taken on - make sure the first thing you do is enter your bank details for payment. I did this and did get paid for the two letters I did under contract, which if I had not entered the details I don't think I would have been paid.

flutterby18 · 04/03/2021 13:47

@Chrissols @Gally123 - Thanks for your input. Just waiting for the test files to come through so will see what they are like and take it from there. I am not holding out much hope as the speciality they want me to type for I have not done in a little while.

I've got nothing to lose except for unpaid work for the test files and as you say, they may be okay to work for Hmm

I will keep you posted as to what happens Smile

Meha5 · 04/03/2021 14:04

Do you ever get those days where you type like a machine and even impress yourself and other days when you can't even type and without making an mistake 🤣🤣🤣

Chrissols · 04/03/2021 14:09

@Meha5 absolutely, I sometimes wonder if my fingers are hearing the same as my brain.......

OP posts:
Chrissols · 04/03/2021 15:02

@Lovemydaxie I think there are a lot typing in the evenings/nights now as I usually see quite a lot on later one 11.00pm and they are always gone at 7.00am when I look in the morning

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 04/03/2021 15:11

@Chrissols Yes, I think people must be typing the files all evening and late into the night. Shame for us though, I was looking forward to getting stuck in this morning only to be disappointed.

Chrissols · 04/03/2021 15:21

@Lovemydaxie I know what you mean. I looked on one evening/night last week and there were 55 tasks......it was quite late so I was hopeful for morning, but every single one had gone

@flutterby18 - I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, I think I was well and truly swindled by them. I had quite a few letters, around 6 but shocking dictation, I remember doing them over the weekend as there was no rush to get them back and wanted to do a good job as I was told it was for a particular consultant in one of my specialties that I would be working for, if I was successful. I took time over and over trying to fathom out what was dictated and only got a couple of words where I had to query on one task, as they were utterly inaudible. (the woman even said the doctor was notorious). I thought I had done really well and sent them back only to get thanks but no thanks, I had to be 100% right as this doctor sent the letters out immediately, what a con! To me it was more like she couldn't fathom them out herself and just used the likes of me to sort for her.

flutterby18 · 04/03/2021 15:36

@carosel2 - Thanks for that, and that sounds awful what you have described. The more I hear about them the less impressed I am. I will probably do the test files if and when they get sent but if I am not happy with the content/audibility then I will not be progressing it any further with them.

Thank you for warning me Smile

carosel2 · 04/03/2021 16:02

@flutterby18 - good luck! Lets hope they have improved since I applied, I would be interested to know how you get on. Smile

Chrissols · 04/03/2021 16:25

Gosh it has been quiet for me today

OP posts:
flutterby18 · 04/03/2021 18:47

Well I have sent my test files back to We Type (only 2 minutes in length) but what a faff with having to use Express Scribe. I am not holding my breath Smile

Gally123 · 04/03/2021 19:29

@flutterby18 - gosh you were lucky with the test files. One of mine was 5 mins, cannot remember the other one.

Just had GP surgery phone a little earlier to book me in for my COVID jab on Saturday. Glad it is at the weekend. Fingers crossed for my side effects.

Gally123 · 04/03/2021 19:29

I meant no side effects! Doh!

flutterby18 · 04/03/2021 19:38

@Gally123

I had three short files to type but unfortunately one would not play - so I expect I will not be getting any work from them. Not really bothered to be honest as I really like working with Dict8.

Good luck with the vaccine - I am having my second dose in 2 weeks.

Chrissols · 05/03/2021 11:30

@flutterby18 you should hear from them today, they were very quick with me, albeit they didn't want me 🤣🤣

OP posts:
deewu · 05/03/2021 11:37

I had my second one on Wednesday, my advice would be make sure you have some paracetamol to hand for the side effects which I found fairly mild, just a bit of a headache and feeling very tired. Some of my colleagues reported strange dreams! I was at home yesterday and there was loads of work even got one of those emails about lots of work on the system. Not much today though!

flutterby18 · 05/03/2021 11:49

@Chrissols - I don't think they will be wanting me either. Not happy with them already as they are asking questions as to which other company I work for, or do I have my own clients. None of their damn business so I have not replied Smile.

Chrissols · 05/03/2021 11:53

@deewu I can't wait to have mine, haven't been invited for one yet......watching for the postman everyday.....

OP posts:
Gally123 · 05/03/2021 14:16

@Chrissols - I did not get a letter for my injection - the GP surgery phoned. Pleased to get it all sorted (necessary for holidays and these are essential for my well being!) but hay fever has started to rear its head so feeling sneezy etc already.

@flutterby18 - I think Wetype ask those sorts of questions as they want typists to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours every day, which is ok if the work is there and the quality is good and if the typist can commit. Also it is used as a gauge to see if someone really is self-employed and not just doing a bit of work on the side.

flutterby18 · 05/03/2021 14:29

@Gally123 - Yes, I suppose that makes sense. I was asked if I could be phoned but I am not taking the application any further as do not want to be using Express Scribe etc. I will stick with Dict8, plus I was not getting very good vibes about them to be honest - very similar set up to another well known company. You spend more time messing about saving letters than actually typing and getting paid for the typing. Smile

Chrissols · 05/03/2021 14:43

@Gally123 My other half got a letter and then a phone call from the Surgery when he had already had it...... Yes, needed for holidays, but I am not booked to go anywhere till October so will have had my first and second before then and they say by mid April for the first for my age group

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 05/03/2021 14:54

@Chrissols you don't need the letter to book your vaccine if you're eligible. Go to the NHS vaccine booking site and enter you NHS number. I booked mine a week before I had the letter and I've got mine tomorrow. You might need to travel a bit further, but mine is only in the next town and I just wanted to get it done so it's worth it.

Meha5 · 05/03/2021 15:46

@deewu - how strange, I had some strange dreams too !!!
