Good Morning all Dict8 ladies

OP posts:
carosel2 · 27/02/2021 16:25

@Chrissols -@danblack87 that would be good wouldnt it, im not on FB though but wonder how it would work with having more than one specialty as if one field had more backdated tasks the others wouldnt show in the first 5 so we wouldn't be able to tell. It would only work for the transcribers who had one specialty that was the same wouldnt it. Its a thought for those transcribers having one though. Did you know you can private message on this thread. If you want to message one poster privately it goes in your message box so others on the thread cant see it, so I suppose thats one way of doing it Smile

Meha5 · 27/02/2021 16:53

@Meha5 - Well I must be totally dim because I wasn't sure on some of the questions what they were asking?

Meha5 · 28/02/2021 15:31

carosel2 · 28/02/2021 18:06

Chrissols · 01/03/2021 16:32

IT man just done yearly check up on my PC.......5 hours it took!!!!

OP posts:
Gally123 · 01/03/2021 17:09

@Chrissols - when I had problems a couple of months ago and my niece recommended doing various scans one came up with the information that it would take over 24 hours - but took more than 6 in the end - most of Sunday afternoon and evening. It came up clear - no viruses etc and nothing to say what was causing the problems so I had to do other scans (a few days later) that luckily were much quicker!

Chrissols · 01/03/2021 17:15

@Gally123 hopefully that's mine set for another year. I wasn't having any problems with it at all (it's still quite new at 18 months), but always get a yearly check up done.......should have asked for it to be done at the weekend in hindsight 🤔

OP posts:
flutterby18 · 01/03/2021 17:42

I do weekly scans which take about five minutes, clear the cookies/delete browsing data weekly and check for any updates daily. I'm a bit confused as I never get my PC checked.

Chrissols · 01/03/2021 18:08

@flutterby18 I have always had and full MOT done on my every year, it definitely extends it's life as although I can do the basics of scans and updates etc, I am certainly no IT person

OP posts:
flutterby18 · 01/03/2021 19:39

Thanks @Chrissols - maybe I should look into having mine checked annually as well Smile

Chrissols · 01/03/2021 19:45

@flutterby18 I find it gives peace of mind

Tasks seem to be a little thin on the ground today - first time for a couple of weeks I am twiddling my thumbs......

OP posts:
Chrissols · 02/03/2021 12:33

I can see over 30 tasks available - the number is going down as people take a task but the five showing are staying exactly the same - proves different tasks are shown to different transcribers

OP posts:
Gally123 · 02/03/2021 13:02

@Chrissols - but we knew that already, didn't we.

Meha5 · 02/03/2021 13:59

@Chrissol - I've noticed that a lot with my task list too !

Chrissols · 03/03/2021 14:45

Very quiet on here today, is everybody nice and busy?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 03/03/2021 15:22

@Chrissols - when you say "busy" - does doing my washing count?

Chrissols · 04/03/2021 11:08

Quiet so far today, after such a busy week last week.....

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 04/03/2021 11:30

I'm quiet today. Oddly, had an email from Dict8 yesterday mid-evening to say a lot of work on there in one of my specialities. Went on there early this morning a 5 am and 18 files on there! Not that I was planning to start working at that time, but was awake and thought I would check. In the old days when they sent out an email like that there would be several hundred waiting to be typed. I should have checked last night when I got the email, I will next time.

Lovemydaxie · 04/03/2021 11:31

Also, the 5 that I could see were not in the speciality that they said had lots of files waiting to be typed.

flutterby18 · 04/03/2021 12:04

Hi Fellow Dict8ers

Does anyone work for We Type as well by any chance? Just wondering what they are like to work for.

Thanks Smile

Gally123 · 04/03/2021 12:26

@flutterby18 - haha - you obviously missed my earlier posts around Christmas time and that of someone else who had experience.

I was sent two very long (one was 2 full A4 pages long) letters as typing tests. You need to buy Express Scribe as they do not provide any software. The woman on the phone for my "chat" was very rude about DICT8, which I thought was unprofessional of her regardless of what I think of them. I was offered a contract to start more or less immediately. I had some concerns and problems with the Express Scribe (at this point they had said that the free version was okay to use) and the next day they cancelled my contract stating that they had concerns about my ability to use their system, and when I suggested they did not want medical secretaries/typists but IT people, they agreed. The other person on here, I forget who it was, said not to touch them. The impression is that they use people to type their clinic letters as typing tests free of charge. On one website they were advertising that they paid £9 an hour but I was told it was 55p per min of dictation or 65p depending on system used. The typing tests I had were clear and fine to type - if the Express Scribe worked, but the management, like that at DICT8, are unpleasant.

flutterby18 · 04/03/2021 12:43

@Gally123 Oh dear, I do remember that now but didn't realise it was We Type. I am awaiting a test with them but now wondering whether to bother.

Thanks for that and all the information you provided above. I may sack them off before I have even done the test after reading what you have put Smile.
