Good Morning all Dict8 ladies

@Chrissols - I never had a problem with my weight until I moved house. My first flat was on the sixth floor and I never used the lift and then I moved to a second floor flat with no lift. Now I live in a bungalow - no stairs - my weight increased immediately. Then working from home, more weight gain. Then diagnosed coeliac disease - I am now the heaviest I have ever been (thought not as heavy as my sisters). I think I am two stone heavier than I used to be, maybe a bit more.

Chrissols · 09/02/2021 17:51

@Gally123 I am usually very good at shifting the extra pounds but this time it just won't budge.....almost afraid to eat

OP posts:
Chrissols · 09/02/2021 17:52

@Gally123 I need to lose a good two stone to be happy in myself

danblack87 · 09/02/2021 18:36

@Chrissols and @Gally123 - I am only 5ft tiny medium build so going from 8 stone to 9.5 is a massive jump. Just lockdown winter blues, too many peanuts/crisps/baileys hahahaha p.s. I only eat once a day *main meal but then I snack - so my brain tells me to store the calories ... that makes it all right then!!!

Gally123 · 09/02/2021 18:40

@danblack87 - I am only 5'2" - I went from 7 stones to 9 stones. But we all need a bit of extra fat in the winter.

Chrissols · 09/02/2021 18:56

@danblack87 I wish I was 9st and I’m 5’4”

30 minutes on the exercise bike, do they actually help to lose weight?

Just don't understand that having been told I have three of the busiest specialties, that over the last few weeks I have seen just the odd letter appear, and it is the worst dictation of all time. It feels as though I am only getting sent the cr...p letter that is hanging around that no one wants or can understand Angry

Gally123 · 11/02/2021 11:40

@carosel2 - I have been through that. The amount of work at the moment is not great but I am managing (though not really in the mood today). But I think this month so far has been better than last month. I have several specialties but one (my main one) I don't seem to be getting any work for at the moment.

Chrissols · 11/02/2021 11:52

@carosel2 @Gally123 I have definitely found it to be picking up a bit at the moment, but it can change in a blink. I have had a few really long ones lately which is always a good boost. Having said that, it does take a while for tasks to start coming through, sometimes nearly lunchtime, and the ones that come later on when we have all had enough are being done by the transcribers that have just come home from their day jobs so nothing there again in the morning

OP posts:
Lovemydaxie · 11/02/2021 12:03

I entirely agree, it's been very sporadic, although it has picked up slightly. Early morning sometimes has a few files, then lunchtime but then dead from about 2 pm until late afternoon, by which time I've had enough after spending all day refreshing and there being nothing on there. I can't see this situation changing much until patients are being seen properly again. Most of my stuff at the moment seems to be urgent referrals, with most routine work all but disappeared. I can see us all being snowed under once things get back to normal, but I think it's going to be a while yet.

Chrissols · 11/02/2021 12:16

@Lovemydaxie I certainly hope we are snowed under......but hope Dict8 don't then go an recruit too many transcribers.......

@Gally123 @Chrissols - I got really busy after coming out of lock-down last year and thought great! but it has slacked off since then and this year has been pretty poor, but of late has been dire. Just hope it does pick up. Glad you and others are getting a bit of work at least Smile I will just have to persevere and hope it picks up for me

Chrissols · 11/02/2021 13:28

@carosel2 After having a good morning, I have now not seen a task for over an hour, I am sure it will pick up later but there is only so many hours a day we can sit in front of a computer........

OP posts:
Gally123 · 11/02/2021 14:16

@carosel2 - I have it in my records that this time of year is always one of the quietest and I recorded my lowest ever daily totals that were pre-lockdown, so I am sure things will pick up, although maybe not to a great extent as DICT8 work seemed to be getting less and less before this current situation. Christmas 2019 was not great etc. Would be nice for an update from them.

Tpro yesterday had technical issues and there was nothing at all until about lunchtime as doctors were unable to upload their dictation!

Chrissols · 11/02/2021 14:23

@Gally123 I guess a lot of consultants are getting their annual leave in before year end next month. I have found Tpro fairly quiet today, still work there, but not what I am familiar with so not picking it up. I must admit though, since they have stopped pressuring us to take the top file (past couple of weeks) I have been able to get used to a lot more specialties by just picking ad hoc and giving them a go, not worrying if I am going to put them back and hence slow them down

OP posts:
danblack87 · 11/02/2021 14:46

To all: I have had a good two days (not on par with the past obiously) but goes with the norm. I too have noticed that the dictation is picking up. When is the 'normal' school holiday break in Feb. Is that this week? That will affect things re. people taking annual leave (to use up annual leave allowance and being available to work for DICT8?)

carosel2 · 11/02/2021 14:51

@Gally123 - that is interesting about last year before lock-down, yes I had been pretty quiet and asked whether something was wrong only to be told no, things were as normal lol. Can't see the point in asking anymore because its always the same answer then it makes you feel even more fed up
Have a few on 6+, but absolutely shocking, shocking!!!.dictation Sad

Chrissols · 11/02/2021 14:58

@danblack87 yes half term begins here tomorrow, but I am aware it is not the same everywhere

OP posts:
Gally123 · 11/02/2021 14:59

@danblack87 - good point about half term - it is 15-19 February or so I am told for my area, which means the private schools that many consultants send their children to will be this week!

carosel2 · 11/02/2021 15:05

oh my words! of course! half term coming up too! probably won't even get that odd letter that's cr...p haha Grin

danblack87 · 11/02/2021 15:50

I am sure in my area it would have been next week AND it will certainly make a huge difference - always does Sad

SamanthaBee · 12/02/2021 08:39

Has anyone contacted Dict8 to ask about the current situation? We used to get regular newsletters and emails but seems to be radio silence at the moment.

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 09:09

@SamanthaBee I’m guessing there’s no a lot they can tell us at the moment. Fingers crossed things will pick up soon with the vaccine rolling out well.
