Good Morning all Dict8 ladies

OP posts:
Chrissols · 12/02/2021 09:11

@SamanthaBee I do wish they would stop recruiting though, at least till things pick up

danblack87 · 12/02/2021 11:04

@samanthabee: I have thought about contacting Dict8 several times but have yet to do so. It is on my mind to do so though.

carosel2 · 12/02/2021 11:10

Well guys after debating whether to log on in the evening, I thought I'd give it a go.... couldn't believe the amount of work on there! Managed to type £12 worth of letters in about an hour and still more left, but I had had enough from being at the computer all day. The letters were all dated yesterday so none was backdated and from doctors I'd thought had gone off the radar. I feel a bit cheated now as this is my only source of income. If people are coming home from day jobs to log on to do extra that's fine if they want to earn extra cash, but why don't they get fed the rotten dictation like the daytime stuff. If this is a regular occurrence for the work being up loaded in the evening then the people who work full time elsewhere must be making a packet!. I personally don't want to work evenings, but if this is the way forward to earn some brass, I might just have to do so if the work comes in more then. Just wish the doctors would save it for the morning to upload, assuming it is them that is putting it on in the first place

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 11:34

@carosel2 It has been like that for a long time now, and there is never any left in the morning because, as you say, the folk coming home from their day jobs are doing it all. I do not want to work in the evening as gave up going out to work in the first place to have better working hours. I do think they could put the work on first thing though and give us the chance for some decent tasks, the 'coming home from workers' will still pick up any tasks that are left

Gally123 · 12/02/2021 11:43

I sometimes log in for an hour or so in the evenings if I have been out during the day etc and not put in a full day's work. Sometimes there is work, sometimes not.

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 13:46

No work this afternoon....................................

OP posts:
Whitestar5 · 12/02/2021 14:20

Same here sporadic work on, but bottom of the barrel stuff. It beats me as to how they can dictate so badly and use the dictaphone so poorly without realising it will affect the transcription, which they'll then have to edit or re-dictate.

Whitestar5 · 12/02/2021 14:26

I think I'll give up and go and make a brew before my mental health suffers any further Grin Brew, and return later for more punishment.

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 14:39

@Whitestar5 I am sat here with a brew browsing the internet 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
Whitestar5 · 12/02/2021 14:43

@Chrissols I hope you get some work soon. I think you need at least 3 specialties to be in with a chance.

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 14:48

@Whitestar5 I don't have three sadly and can't see that changing for a good while yet

OP posts:
Whitestar5 · 12/02/2021 15:06
@Whitestar5 I don't have three sadly and can't see that changing for a good while yet
Oh it's frustrating when they won't let regulars have more specialties isn't it.

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 15:12

@Whitestar5 It is when we know they are taking on new recruits

OP posts:
danblack87 · 12/02/2021 15:25

To all: I have known for a long time that work is available in the evening but, just as you all say, by 4 -5pm I have lost all motivation. If you think about it clinics will be uploaded at the end of the clinic which could be anywhere around 4.30 to 6 pm AND then of course, initiative clinics or private clinics running anywhere between 6 and 10 pm. I choose not work those late hours any more so have no reason to complain on that score (I could do those if I wished to). The only bone of contention as you all know, are those working at home after working within the NHS for the day and not declaring tax (taking paid annual leave and working from home for a week 3-6 times per year ... that is my bug bear. I have more specialties but that does not make an ounce of difference working during the day for work available it is down to when work is uploaded for downloading from Dict*8 Perhaps we should start at 12.30 in the afternoon and aim for a night shift!! Wortht thinking about Confused.

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 15:33

@danblack87 I have no intention of working a 'nightshift' 😣 I like to relax in the evenings. I agree wholeheartedly with your bug bear, but have to say I find it equally annoying that they are still recruiting when there is no work

OP posts:
danblack87 · 12/02/2021 15:48

@Chrissols: I agree . There should be no recruitment as work is scarce enough - a simple e-mail from Dict8 to say that have areas of shortage of transcriptionists in a), b) etc, should promote more work available for the dedictaed transcriptionists already on the 'books'. I am sure we have all worked in many varieties of specialist areas in our past. It is rather annoying not be given an offer to try a new speciality. This is definitely where it falls down.

flutterby18 · 12/02/2021 15:57

I have started working later in the day (afternoons) as there is hardly any work for me during the mornings and also doing an hour or so in the evenings. It seems to be working out better for me and it also means come spring/summertime, hopefully I can get out and get some fresh air, and not be stuck in front of the computer all day.

I am going to give it a go for a few weeks and see how I get on. Each to their own, but this seems to be working better for me at the moment during the pandemic. Only time will tell if I get any more work in the mornings.

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 16:57

I am fortunate in that I work for three companies so when one is quiet the other usually has work, but I do find it easier to keep to one place, and prefer to Dict8 to any others. For now though I will have to keep working for all three as bills/mortgage need to be paid. I usually work between the hours of 9.30 - 5.50 ish, but take days off when I need, I do not work weekends either.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 12/02/2021 16:58

Having said I finish at 5.30, just managed to nab a very long task so will be more like 6.30 this evening 😴😴

OP posts:
carosel2 · 12/02/2021 18:19

@Chrissols I agree, dont want to.work evenings either as prefer my evenings relaxing but ive looked again now and there is quite a few tasks again after having hadly nothing all day @Whitestar5 I have 3 specialties and trust me it doesn make a difference at all for.volume but thats in my fields, may be better in others, possibly. As for quality of dictation today it has been terrible again doctors dictating in such noisy environments that you can only hear the others talking even one doc seemed to get so frustrated with the noise and one which made me smile was at home and in the middle of dictation I got a blast of the advert on the tv for the Miss Dior perfume haha

Gally123 · 12/02/2021 19:07

@carosel2 , I agree having several specialties just means you got the worst dictations in all of them, as it is just those that people with one specialty leave, and the quality seems to get worse in relation to the number of tasks available. When there is generally less work I can sometimes get the odd task of better quality as it is more of a first come, first served basis.

carosel2 · 12/02/2021 20:08

@Gally123- never thought of it that way because yes the three I have, all have the same dregs coming in. So unfair somehow. Sad

Chrissols · 12/02/2021 20:33

@Gally123 @carosel2 maybe I should count myself lucky then as what tasks I have had today have been over 20 minutes each and clear.....that doesn’t happen everyday though

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 12/02/2021 20:49

Nope

carosel2 · 12/02/2021 22:06

@Chrissols you must have a totaly diffetent speciality as my letters are some times are only 5 lines long
