Buttocks - do you wash yours?

171 replies

Cheeseandlobster · 10/01/2021 16:28

Just sat in the bath and realised that unless I am in the shower, I never wash my buttocks. I always always wash my bum crack Blush but not my actual buttocks. I wash once sometimes twice a day so generally not a mucky bugger but my poor neglected buttocks.

I am now convinced that if I give them a good scrub everyday my bum will surely rival a peach Grin

Am I alone in my weird random muckiness?

@Suzi888

I wash my hair every day too. Just let it dry naturally Confusedit’s not going to be ruined. Your scalp probably DOES smell if you don’t.

Not everyone has hair that naturally dries into an attractive style.
I'm not a manual labourer and don't live in a hot country. The day after I wash it, my hair and scalp still smell of shampoo.

As I said, I thought most people would say that washing hair every day damages it. I must have read that advice a thousand times in magazines etc. But if someone wants to direct me to an article saying hair needs to be washed every day, I'll happily be persuaded that the advice has changed and I'm old-fashioned.

I hardly ever actually have a wash, but I have a shower every day and generally wipe myself all over during that process.

The posters who don’t wash their hair everyday🤮

Your hair must stink. What about pollution and cooking smells etc?

Stop being ridiculous.
If i washed my hair every day then I would destroy it. I like having nice, healthy, shiny, manageable hair thanks. And it never smells 🙄

I get lots of compliments on my hair, and I'm a twice-a-week-washer, no dye, no fancy products old bird. For me the key is taking lots of time to dry it gently. As to the main issue: I made a special point of giving the whole behind area a good old scrubbing this morning, purely in the interests of science. I can't say that anyone has remarked on my gleaming buttocks so far. Neither was the bottom of the bath layered with several decades' worth of dead skin. Which was a bit of a disappointment.

Perhaps not to you. You get used to the smell. It’s very difficult to actually smell yourself.

On the Legs thread, I remember someone saying that she could smell other people's dirty legs at the swimming pool, presumably above the smell of the chlorine. Some people evidently have noses like bloodhounds.

@gotyerhat

Once I was at a friend's house and went to the bathroom. All I could find to dry my hands was a tiny towel. When I came out she said "oh my god, I didn't put a hand towel in there, there's just my bum towel". That's all I have to contribute here.

😂🤣

no matter how well you wash your arse ( hole) when you come to dry it it still makes the towel smell a bit

Am I not drying my arsehole vigorously/deeply enough? I mean, I don't actually smell my towels Confused, but I suspect that if I did they wouldn't smell of arse. I don't really, you know, get in there with the towel. Am I doing it wrong?

I have never been near a friend/family member/stranger and been able to smell their hair unless the smell is strong floral/fruity shampoo or they are a greasy, unkempt, general non washer.

I wash my hair every day too. Just let it dry naturally

This might be possible if you have thin hair.
I have loads of hair. If I left it to dry naturally, it would take 6-8 hours to actually dry, during which time it would get frizzier and larger and I would look really scruffy. I actually am quite scruffy in my sartorial choices but I prefer not to look like a bag lady if at all possible.

And as for ruining it- it is not only heat drying that damages hair. Those of us with extremely dry, coarse hair find that the washing itself (the harshness of shampoo- regardless of the handfuls of conditioner I use) makes the hair drier.

I find it easiest to just take myself through a car wash every day. Obviously I pay extra for the undercarriage cycle.

How odd that you think that you have to wash your hair every day? Confused

For one thing human hair was not designed to be washed with detergent every 24 hours, it's really not good for it.

A lot of black women with afro hair wash their hair once a week, or even less. Do they have 'smelly' hair? Hmm

@Purplethrow

I do, and I sing Happy Birthday twice while so doing
My derrière must be slightly larger than yours , I have to sing Bohemian Rhapsody a couple of times to give me time to cover the whole area.

Or Fat Bottomed Girls?

Some people really are extraordinary. Amazing for one’s hair to still smell of shampoo more than 24 hours after using it.

An extremely unsual experience, I would have thought.

Purplethrow · 14/01/2021 07:48

@trixiebelden77 not really, my dd has thick , long hair and it definitely still smells of shampoo the day after she’s washed it.

I'd recommend Garnier, if anyone wants to share that incredible, unimaginable experience 😂

I usually ring the bell and summon the man servant to do it. Except on Sundays when it’s his day off. Then the chauffeur stands in. Grin

I could not wash my hair every day without it drying out - plus I have to use a hairdryer as it very long and thick and takes an age to dry naturally.

My DM had very dry hair and washed it once a week - it/she doesn't smell
