Buttocks - do you wash yours?

Cheeseandlobster · 10/01/2021 16:28

Just sat in the bath and realised that unless I am in the shower, I never wash my buttocks. I always always wash my bum crack Blush but not my actual buttocks. I wash once sometimes twice a day so generally not a mucky bugger but my poor neglected buttocks.

I am now convinced that if I give them a good scrub everyday my bum will surely rival a peach Grin

Am I alone in my weird random muckiness?

It seems that from numerous threads a lot of people on MN don’t wash their hair daily 🤢 , so you are probably not alone

How is that gross? Depends on your hair surely?

For the op - always in the shower, occasionally in the bath, but I do think they've soaked enough to be clean by the end of my 30 mins very hot bath.

@NewYearNewPlumbing

Were your buttocks in the bath with you?
In the water?
The soapy water?

Or do you somehow leave them jutting out over the edge of the bath?

Because having them in hot soapy water and then drying them is probably 'washing'.

And this! If your buttocks are in the bath, in hot soapy water, then that is washing them, surely?

Anyone who read the Do You Wash Your Legs thread is shaking their head sadly Grin

I clean everywhere. It’s a good idea to scrub and/or use a product that leaves you with soft skin.

Also if you don’t clean the area you might get boils or spots.

Unless you bathe on your hands and knees then your arse cheeks will get washed just by sitting in hot water.

I only bath.
So no I don’t scrub my bum cheeks, inbetween my toes, or anywhere else that is sitting in soda water

I cleanse my face and hair that’s it

@FippertyGibbett

So, we’ve had people not washing their legs in the shower and now we’ve got people not washing buttocks in the bath.
Next I’ll be reading that people don’t wash between their toes either !!

I don't even wash my feet, they get dry enough, and no I don't have smelly feet and never have.i can go for a run, wear boots all day etc and they never smell.

This is priceless!

FTR I put bubble-bath in my bath; I wash all my 'bits' but I don't lather my buttocks in the same way I don't lather my elbows or knees!

I shower (and hair wash, because I have to) every morning where I will run a soapy hand all over everything, I guess (though I can't reach much of my back!); then I'll hop in the bath before bed every evening- yes, after DH who has done nothing more arduous than moved from bed to desk in the course of most days!

Eh? You're not supposed to wash your hair daily. I did it for years and my hair was fucked.

In the bath? No. In the shower yes? Yes. Bath is just for a nice long soak. Shower is for cleaning yourself.

@LemonSquirtInTheEyeOfLife I don't wash my face in the shower and hair separately so scrapping those 2 bits, from stepping in to stepping out is 3 mins or so
I don't overly focus on say my forearms (although they get washed!)

If you don't actually wash your buttocks (or anywhere else), then surely the dead skin stays attached to them? Or maybe I'm just someone who needs a bit of exfoliation to get rid of dead skin Confused.

I think my general thought process is that if it hasn't been rubbed by something then it hasn't been washed, merely soaked.

Actually, I use soap on very few parts of my body.

I have dermatitis and a doctor told me as a teen (so at my sweatiest!) that you should only use soap on the sweaty parts, pits and bits.

He said that people don't get dirty like they did 30-40 years ago and that the soap that runs down your body whilst washing your hair and the other bits, was enough for areas like arms and legs.

The ‘possible’ business is quoted in Lark Rise To Candleford IIRC. When everyone was out of the house the village women would lock the door and fill a basin with warm soapy water. Later they’d tell friends, ‘I’ve washed up as far as possible, and down as far as possible, and I feels all the better for it.’

Whereupon the ribald would ask what poor ‘possible’ had done to be left out.

You're not recommended to wash your hair daily. It's not good for it...

Oh no, OP, have you looked in the mirror lately? Are you sure there is not 30 years' worth of dead skin on your backside?

@SpeckledyHen lots of people don't need to wash their hair daily. Not everyone is white with "normal" hair
Afro hair, curly hair doesn't need washing daily
