Buttocks - do you wash yours?

171 replies

Cheeseandlobster · 10/01/2021 16:28

Just sat in the bath and realised that unless I am in the shower, I never wash my buttocks. I always always wash my bum crack Blush but not my actual buttocks. I wash once sometimes twice a day so generally not a mucky bugger but my poor neglected buttocks.

I am now convinced that if I give them a good scrub everyday my bum will surely rival a peach Grin

Am I alone in my weird random muckiness?

I think we have learned from the whole covid19 pandemic that if you don't use soap, water and rub the soap into the skin....it doesn't clean...if it cleaned skin then we would all be dipping our hands into water

So to answer your question...yes I wash my butyocks and every part of myself with soap....because if I didn't, then it's not going to clean itself... Confused

Cheeseandlobster · 10/01/2021 18:46
@SpeckledyHen I do as mine is greasy but I am sure my daily wasting makes it worse. I am jealous of my friends with drier hair who can go a few days
I read this as your buttocks were greasy Grin

Shock at buttock dead skin flakes

You are certainly alone in starting a thread like this, WTF would possess a sane person to start a thread about washing their nether regions.

Ilovenutellaaaaa · 10/01/2021 18:48

*buttocks

notalwaysalondoner · 10/01/2021 18:49

I still remember my shock when I found out the 3 guys I was away with in South America didn’t wash their feet properly with their hands/flannel and soap - just let the shower gel run down their legs and hoped that did the job. Considering we were hiking miles every day for weeks this was particularly gross. But I’ve since found out other people do this too. Yuk. Feet are one of the smelliest parts of the body and deserve a scrub.

Oreservoir · 10/01/2021 18:49

@Icenii apparently you lose 30000 to 40000 dead skin cells every Minute!

Are you new to MN? This type of thread is not rare. Grin

Maybe yours are one of the smelliest parts of your body but mine aren't.

Because this is a discussion forum with no taboo subject and because its a bit silly and because god knows we all need a bit of silly at the moment. And you opened it so it must have intrigued you a little bit Grin

Well, yes. It's frowned upon to wash someone else's buttocks so I avoid it.

Well unless people are touching your naked but cheeks, I doubt its going to be spreading any diseases around.
Russellbrandshair · 10/01/2021 18:56

Um.... yes of course I do. I wash everywhere, otherwise no point in bothering to shower

Doctors performing surgery don't scrub their entire body beforehand, as it is not necessary. We do not have to have a surgical level of cleanliness over our entire body.

Dear God. Can people not make a simple decision about their own life without having to ask the unwashed? masses online?

That’s exactly what it says on the restraining order against me from idris elba! 😆😆😆
rosegoldwatcher · 10/01/2021 18:59

@Cheeseandlobster

I have a scrubber. Lots of scrubbers. And I wash my toes, belly button and behind the ears. But its quite hard to reach buttocks in the bath and I dont really think of them. Though they do get washed in the shower so not totally neglected.

@rosegoldwatcher I like the sound of your grandmother. Is possible ones nether regions?

Yes @Cheeseandlobster - nethers! That is such a fabulous word, as is buttocks. A very woody word, as Monty Python would classify it.

My grandmother was a fabulous woman (born in 1913.)

My elder son, when he was a teenager, used to tease me over my use of the word 'bottom' - apparently everyone else called it a bum.
But my grandmother's youngest sister, who was very posh, once told a ten year old me that bum was 'very common' - and that stuck, despite knowing that bum is a perfectly fine word, really!

PearlescentIridescent · 10/01/2021 19:01

I treat each buttock like the glorious peach it is and have a specific thigh and buttock scrub and butter.

Protect your assets.

PearlescentIridescent · 10/01/2021 19:03

@Russellbrandshair 😅😅

Lurkingforawhile · 10/01/2021 19:03

@rosegoldwatcher that made me laugh out loud! May now be calling my bits a possible

PlanDeRaccordement · 10/01/2021 19:06

@LemonSquirtInTheEyeOfLife

I'm baffled how people that claim to take only 2 or 3 minutes in the shower can possibly wash their entire body properly. Hair wash, arms, legs, chest, back, buttocks, underarms, groin, feet including between toes, face - how do they (you) do it? Is it not really 2 minutes after all, or does "wash" just mean "get soapy & wet". I take a lot longer in the shower, 2 minutes is barely enough just for my face & back!
I can. I learned how when posted to a desert with strict water restrictions. The showers were timed....you got it done in 2mins or you were wiping soap off with a towel because you were too slow.
waterlego · 10/01/2021 19:08

Don’t worry about it OP . It seems that from numerous threads a lot of people on MN don’t wash their hair daily 🤢 , so you are probably not alone

I wash my hair once or twice a week otherwise it looks fucking ridiculous.

Very interested to know how exactly you define 'clean' with this kind of logic...
Confusedandshaken · 10/01/2021 19:13

I assume my buttocks just get washed in the general sudsy fallout from my upper body. I've never given them special attention. Nor do I pay close attention to my legs or between my toes. I wash arms. armpits, neck, boobs, feet, crack and outer genitalia thoroughly and the rest just takes care of itself. I smell of roses and sunshine.

Like everyone else I am washing my hands a LOT at the moment and it has wrecked my skin there. They are covered in cracked, itchy eczema/dermatitis. The neglected parts of my body remain smooth and perfect.

That is ridiculous. I have thick, curly hair, that just does not need to be washed daily. It takes far longer than a week for it to even look greasy Confused.
