Buttocks - do you wash yours?

Cheeseandlobster · 10/01/2021 16:28

Just sat in the bath and realised that unless I am in the shower, I never wash my buttocks. I always always wash my bum crack Blush but not my actual buttocks. I wash once sometimes twice a day so generally not a mucky bugger but my poor neglected buttocks.

I am now convinced that if I give them a good scrub everyday my bum will surely rival a peach Grin

Am I alone in my weird random muckiness?

The posters who don’t wash their hair everyday🤮

Your hair must stink. What about pollution and cooking smells etc?

I wash my hair almost every day, but in full knowledge that it is bad for my hair and I shouldn't do it. I thought that was common knowledge, and that most people wash their hair less often.

So if you cook a curry, would you not go out afterwards without washing your hair? Or does the smell only build up after an entire day?
Can other people smell it walking past in the street/on the bus, or is just people who sniff your hair that will notice the cooking smell?

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 10/01/2021 20:30

Why when I read 'buttocks' my inside voice always says like Forest Gump

And answer to your question - yes I wash my 'but-tocks' but .... I never wash the soles of my feet.....

NetballHoop · 10/01/2021 20:41

Personally I prefer to have my buttocks dry cleaned.

I'd be worried they'd shrink if I did them with the rest of me.

Purplethrow · 10/01/2021 20:45

I do, and I sing Happy Birthday twice while so doing
My derrière must be slightly larger than yours , I have to sing Bohemian Rhapsody a couple of times to give me time to cover the whole area.

cuckooclok · 10/01/2021 20:45

I don't wash my hair daily, or even every two days! I've never washed between my toes! My buttocks have got no chance Grin

I put mine in the washing machine once a week on a hot wash. No fabric conditioner though, I don't like the smell.

It’s not “bad” for all hair!!! If I don’t wash daily I get itchy irritated scalp which leads to hair loss. If you have a certain type of hair it’s better to wash daily.
As always, it will depend on the individual

Incrediblytired · 10/01/2021 20:49

God I pretty much just let the water run over me 🤣

UnrulyJulie · 10/01/2021 20:50

I only bathe once a week but do a body scrub so they get a good going over with salt and coconut oil while I kneel in the bath. They are also scrubbed twice daily with an exfoliating sponge in the shower. I am very peachy me!

Don’t be ridiculous woman. Plenty of people don’t need to wash their hair everyday. You scalp is not super sweaty, nor does it produce discharge, and it takes more than a day for most hair to pick up environment smell (unless you work in a chip shop).
Meruem · 10/01/2021 21:14

Ah the old competitive hygiene thread. I thought it had been a while since we’d had one!

I’m in my 50s and have never ever washed between my toes. I’ve never had any nasty fungal thing or anything, nor has any partner or my DC ever said my feet smell so I shall carry on as I am. I hate showers so have a bath most times. Everything gets a good soak in hot water and I use soap on the main parts of my body, under arms etc. Buttocks just soak themselves.

I can easily shower in 2 minutes. Wet the whole body, spread shower gel around, wash face, rinse off shower gel. If you’re having a shower or bath daily there shouldn’t be some massive build up that requires vigorous scrubbing. Unless you have a particularly dirty job.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 10/01/2021 21:16

Bits, pits and undercarriage here.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 10/01/2021 21:43

@Gluestick80 No my hair doesn't stick after a day of not washing. What are you doing to yours to make it so smelly? Must be pretty rank if your stinking everyday 🤢

Mysterian · 10/01/2021 21:44

The staff work wonders with my buttocks. One does the port side, the other takes starboard. They alternate each time to prevent excessive lopsided muscle build up in their arms. It's the basic routine of:
Remove obvious build-ups
Pre-wash
Soap+scrub
Rinse
Second soap for any stubborn stains.
Second rinse
Buff
Moisturise
Comb

Standrewsschool · 10/01/2021 21:48

Don’t wash my hair everyday,,and it doesn’t stink. Can leave it two or three days, and it looks okay.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 10/01/2021 21:49

God if I had to make sure I washed every crevice of my body every day when I went for a shower, I think jt would put me off having a shower. You could never just pop in for a quick freshen up.
Unless you have been for a workout or something, then how can you me getting so smelly and disgusting that you have to scrub hair, belly buttons, toes, legs, but cheeks etc every day? What are people doing!!

Sparrowfeeder · 10/01/2021 21:58

This reminds me of a tremendous barnacle scraping video someone linked to from another MN thread recently.

Not a buttock scrubber, a very occasional buff perhaps but normally in the usual bits, pits etc club. Legs get a body scrub prior to their biannual shave.

UnrulyJulie · 10/01/2021 22:08

I have very fine hair and have to wash it daily or it just looks limp and greasy. Doesn’t smell though.

I must admit I have stood in a checkout queue and smelt unwashed hair. It has a particular rankness to it. I’ve also had relatives and friends who had stinky hair as they didn’t wash it regularly. Problem is they get used to the smell and don’t realise they stink!

Your attitude stinks, that's for sure...
Hugoslavia · 10/01/2021 22:16

It's towel usage that concerns me more. My old head of year told us in our final six form assembly that, if he had one word of advice for our lives ahead of us it was, "To use one corner of a towel for your face and another for your bottom and that the two corners should never meet!" It's great advice and I have stuck by it!

Chumleymouse · 11/01/2021 07:53

That’s good advice, no matter how well you wash your arse ( hole) when you come to dry it it still makes the towel smell a bit ☹️ So I always dry it with the boxer shorts I’ve just taken off and then chuck them in the wash . 👍 I’m a bloke 🙂

Sheleg · 11/01/2021 08:29

I give the girls a good scrub with a sponge each time I shower.

PearlescentIridescent · 11/01/2021 08:35

How ridiculous to think not washing your hair everyday is gross!

My hair is bleached lightest blonde, if it was washed every day it would be destroyed 😅 if your hair is that stinky after one day I would suggest making your environment less smelly!

Suzi888 · 11/01/2021 10:18

I wash my hair every day too. Just let it dry naturally Confusedit’s not going to be ruined. Your scalp probably DOES smell if you don’t.
