We've watched films played board games tried out all dc new toys eaten cheese and drunk lots over the last few days

Also had walks but it's freezing and raining!

Looking for inspiration!

Child free today so we are going on a long walk and then I will be reading my new books for the rest of the day.

Things our children have enjoyed doing - building dens, arts and crafts (we painted ceramic decorations, made snow flakes etc), going out in the evening to look at christmas lights, putting on (terrible) shows, playing "heads bodies and legs"

Ilovenewyear · 29/12/2020 12:19

We went for another motherfucking walk which typically takes longer to get ready, force children to do wees, put shoes and coats on, then it does to to the activity itself.

Get out and it’s muddy as fuck. Waterproofs get covered. Wellies get covered. Youngest falls over before we find the playground. Tears. Comforting. I get covered.

Spend 10 mins on the playground. 10mins wading through mud for a ‘walk’ while the kids complain about being wet and cold.

Back home. Change kids out of wet clothes. Load of washing on. Clean boots. Put kids in front of tv and realise it only killed an hour.

Life. Is. Shit.

RosieLemonade · 29/12/2020 12:19

We’re going for a walk somewhere slightly different today. It’s very exciting and we are taking hot drinks so it’s a real fun day out. It’s very dull and tedious. At least 23 million of us are in this together 😭

ohtheholidays · 29/12/2020 12:19

Sod all,me and my DD13 have both woke up with bloody horrible head colds so were spending the day watching movies,I've just stuck on Jack Frost(haven't watched this film in years)and we'll have something lovely and stodgy for lunch made by my lovely DH who us is doing a great job of looking after us.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 29/12/2020 12:19

Shouting at the kids and feeling bloody miserable rn in Tier 4

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 29/12/2020 12:20

Sorting out my drawers... literally. Having a good clear out of pants, bras, tshirts, pjs and running gear. It was one of my new year resolutions last year and so I want to achieve something I planned for 2020! Grin

EmmanuelleMakro · 29/12/2020 12:20

Someone I know (NOT a friend) is travelling -again into Tier 4 Ealing from Newport, Isle of Wight (was Tier 1-now 3-I wonder why...) and staying in a hotel and then visiting with his grown up children (three households!) before travelling back on Friday to the Isle of Wight. (by train, natch Angry)

sansou · 29/12/2020 12:22

Contemplating making sausage rolls with leftover puff pastry and dithering over whether to use caramelised onion chutney or cranberry sauce in them.

DH is doing his tax return.

Teens supposed to be doing their HW after having the first week of the holidays completely off.

Loushome · 29/12/2020 12:23

Looking online for Xmas gifts to give next year but budget is tight so it’s only genuinely reduced items.

Child has practiced handwriting (living the dream Hmm)

Bike ride

Sterilised toys we’re giving away

Looked through photo albums

Gone through old clothes to see what we can get rid of, which ones no longer fit

Polished school shoes in anticipation....

BillyAndTheSillies · 29/12/2020 12:24

DS1 (4) and DH are working their way through various boardgames. DS2 is napping and has been down for nearly two hours so must be bored.

I'm watching Bridgerton.

We went out for a really long walk yesterday. DS1 was wrapped up but hates being wrapped up and then got pissed off that he was cold once he decided to strip off and DS2 hated being in the buggy but he's so tiny and can't walk in wellies so no one very keen today. Least of all DH. I might go for a run.

Tootletum · 29/12/2020 12:26

Jigsaws, playing sonic on PS4, 7 yo DS just taught his 5 yo brother chess, marble run. I'm now going for a run and dad is getting them to clean bikes.

domesticslattern · 29/12/2020 12:29

I am sorry about your sad news @Rockbird

Very bored here. I used to really enjoy the period between Xmas and New Year- seeing friends, going to museums, visiting the sales. Instead... a miserably cold walk and then the TV, like everyone else. I ought to be writing a job application but it is hard to summon the energy. The DC are becoming seriously listless too. Sad

sandybayley · 29/12/2020 12:37

Walk dog, run, change beds. Walk to supermarket and get takeaway coffee. DS2 is revising for mocks and DS1 is revising for university exams. Card game later (Burraco) and a classic film that the DC have never seen.

We had a fun night yesterday with pizza making and karaoke Italian songs. I think it's easier with teenagers who enjoy a glass of wine.

FatGirlShrinking · 29/12/2020 12:39

Been to the park to play in the snow, took hot chocolate to keep us going, it was blinking cold and got soaked through so home now defrosting ourselves and eating the McDonalds that just got delivered.

Tiquismiquis · 29/12/2020 12:40

Husband is working. Have been on a freezing walk with the children. The 1year old was getting too cold so it wasn’t even a long one. This week is going to feel very long without usual family visits and being able to actually do anything. I’ve got plenty I should be doing in the garden but just can’t really be bothered. I’m quite excited by a potential supermarket trip tomorrow.

I remember after last lockdown, I went to get my car serviced and the little one found the industrial estate the most exciting thing ever.

PatchworkElmer · 29/12/2020 12:44

I went for a run first thing. Drove 10 minutes for a walk by the sea with DC. Now watching a film. Might go for a bike ride after lunch, and then do some kind of craft activity.

hiredandsqueak · 29/12/2020 12:47

I've walked the dog and made poached egg on toast. Plan today is to sort dd's bedroom to make room for her new stuff and then I've got a pile of ironing to do. Dd will entertain herself and eat when I cook.

crazychemist · 29/12/2020 12:48

The same as we do every day at the moment...lol looks like what everyone is doing! Thank goodness I picked up jigsaws from oxfAm before tier 4 happened. DD (4) says she never wants to go for a walk ever again.....

pompey38 · 29/12/2020 12:48

Walk (every day) , supermarket( meat free cooking for few days after Christmas) , taking my decs down as I bought the worst tree ever this year and the needles are all on the floor

rollinggreenhills · 29/12/2020 12:48

So far this morning, I have cleaned the kitchen to within an inch of its life and been to a practically deserted garden centre, where I bought an amaryllis reduced to £1.99, and a miniature orange tree (complete with tiny oranges) reduced to a fiver.

Once I've drunk my coffee and finished this here piece of Christmas cake, I'm going to give the fridge and freezer a good clearout.

DH is at work doing something with animal feed and the adult DC are still lounging about upstairs, although I can hear movement so they may be down soon looking for food.

Superstardjs · 29/12/2020 12:49

Sorry about your friend Rockbird.

Dd has had a piano lesson. We have ordered sushi for lunch because we fancied it. I may run the Hoover round.

StormBaby · 29/12/2020 12:50

Working 😢

DrunkenKoala · 29/12/2020 12:50

All had a lie in this morning.
Went for a walk in local park and DD played in play area for a bit.
After hearing that we were going into tier 4 I kept the gingerbread house back so we’re going to put it together and decorate it this afternoon.

superking · 29/12/2020 12:50

We are going to try geocaching for the first time this afternoon. Hoping it will inject a bit of excitement into our walks for the kids, they seem keen to try it so that's a start. In the summer we took a picnic which kept them motivated (ate it near the end!) but that's not really an option at this time of year!

Pyjamaface · 29/12/2020 12:52

I'm cross-stitching while DP and DS have gone out for a walk.

Lunch when they get back and then measuring DS' room for LED lights that hes decided he wants.

Then just flumping about the house like its March again
