Sitting in Costa, trying not to cry

While DP is undergoing his first session of chemo for advanced bile duct cancer. Surrounded by happy smiley people and feeling very scared and alone. Everything about this scary journey has been a battle. Every bit of news has been bad. I just wish I had a friend to lean on right now.

So sorry you are going through this. I hope you don’t have to wait too king for your Dh’s appointment to finish.

It must feel unbearable. I am so sorry you and your husband are facing this. I hope things improve and you have lots of time together.

Thinking of you. My Dad had cancer of the bile duct and we lost him at 58 years old. His birthday was Christmas Day so it is always a strange time of year for us.
You are strong - you may not realise it yet, but you are. He needs your love more than anything and you obviously love him very much. I can't pretend this won't be a difficult time, but please try to laugh and make life as normal as you can - it helped my Dad and ultimately helped us all.

Thank you @Camphillgirl. We are fortunate that the prospects are very good but it’s still been a big wrecking ball that has smashed into every area of our lives this year. Still, as this thread shows, there are lots of people in much harder situations so I consider us lucky in a way.

Much love to everyone in thIs crappy Christmas ‘nipping off to the utility room/toilet/back garden for a quick sob’ club.

I know it’s not a Mumsnet thing to do but I am sending huge hugs your way. Not going to sugarcoat it, your situation sounds shit and I’m sorry you and your DH are having to go through this, especially at this time of year. Xx

Thank you all, I am overwhelmed by your kindness. Just being able to say and having people hear how I feel made it easier. He is almost done with his first session so I am slapping my smile back on and going to collect him.
