While DP is undergoing his first session of chemo for advanced bile duct cancer. Surrounded by happy smiley people and feeling very scared and alone. Everything about this scary journey has been a battle. Every bit of news has been bad. I just wish I had a friend to lean on right now.

@madroid

The Macmillan helpline is good to just speak to people who understand.

I remember ringing at a very low point just after Christmas a few years ago and they were brilliant. It really lifted me up to keep going a bit longer.

That is very different from my experience.

Oh cat I do feel for you. DH has had multiple biopsies this summer (turns out it is an autoimmune thing) and I've been having to leave him at the hospital.

caffeineanddryshampoo · 24/12/2020 09:38

So sorry to hear you are both going through this. Wishing you lots of hugs and best wishes for your partner's treatment. x

I’m on chemo at the moment (soon to start radiotherapy and I understand what you and your family are going through. My husband also has C. We have been shielding because of him since early March. I was diagnosed in August.
It’s been a total shit year. The next person who moans about having to wear a mask.....
Imagine, you people out there who don’t care about rules/tiers...how our kids are feeling. I keep reading about everyone’s annoyance and disappointment over Christmas plans...what would we give to have your problems right now..
Anyhow sorry to vent, I know exactly how you feel, never any good news, results etc.
Just keep going. One day at a time that’s what I’m trying to do.
And sending you a big hug, there are lots of us I’m sure. X

Thisisanillegalbingogame · 24/12/2020 09:38

I am so sorry. Wishing you peace and strength Flowers

Alternista · 24/12/2020 09:45

Oh whitecat I remember your posts from the summer too.

We’re here for handholding. I stood and sobbed in a (hospital) Costa queue while my Dad was upstairs dying slowly and painfully- quite frankly that queue was the only respite I got! So you do what you need to do today.

Everything crossed for you that he responds well to the treatment, better than expected x

WaggyWoof · 24/12/2020 09:49

Oh OP, sending you lots of positive vibes. Keep going. Flowers

Camphillgirl · 24/12/2020 09:51

We are here for you OP. I had bad diagnosis 40 years ago when I had little kids. Take each day as it comes do not look past today. Have a good blub, smash a few chipped crocks, you don’t have to be strong, we are with you. xxx

Hugs coming across the miles.

Butterbeeeen · 24/12/2020 09:54

@bloodywhitecat the one thing that struck me from your post was your DP is so ill and yet you have still welcomed a Foster baby in to your life. You truly are amazing. Hope you manage a wonderful Christmas day even if today is a bit ropey

devildeepbluesea · 24/12/2020 09:55

I haven't read your story, but like most people I have experience of what this shitty disease does.

Thinking of you in Costa, and hoping your DP tolerates the chemo well. FlowersCake
