If you bought your dog when it was a puppy, how much did you pay, what breed is your dog and what year was this?

We’ve been wanting a dog for a long time now but had to wait years for us to have better jobs and a bigger house etc.
We are almost ready to add a lovely dog to our family but WOW the prices are really high.
People tel me this is due to lockdown or the time of year.
So I just wanted to gauge the prices of puppies in recent years.

Also on another note seeing how high they are makes me sad that people will take advantage of the amount of money to be made (example labradors in my part of the UK are £3,000, the average lab has 8 puppies- that’s £24k!)

2 years ago, £80, rescue - no idea what, but he is big and black and we love him.

He was a puppy and the rescue was full so needed him homed ASAP.

Cocker spaniel, Dec 2017 (we collected him 3 years ago today - a video of his came up on my Facebook feed this morning). £750 or £800 iirc.

If you bought your dog as a puppy how much did you pay?

2011 lab KC reg £200 was the last one and they were struggling to sell him. He is a dopey fella. My other one they were desperate to get rid because they cross bred and he didn’t look like a pure bred staff, so got him off a doorstep - a rescue!

Labs from trialing stock on full papers but only for sale to working homes:
2019 we paid £350
2020 we paid £500 which was steep but we particularly wanted one from that bitch and got pick of the litter.

Neither litter were for sale to pet homes.

Bluntness100 · 05/12/2020 19:22

Please don’t buy from pets4home, there are known scam artists on here, people stealing images of puppies then conning to get a deposit, or puppy farmers, pretending to be normal family homes, or people who have stolen dogs, avoid them please.

Our last dog has passed away he was a chocolate lab we paid approx 1k eight years ago for.
