So proud of the UK today

So, the UK is the first in the world to approve and roll out a Covid vaccination programme. (If another country had done this, say Germany, everyone would be going on about why can't we be as good as the Germans? Grin)

The UK had bought and tested a major amount of the right vaccine - it didn't get here by chance!

The UK Army (which really is world-class) is going to enable the largest vaccine programme ever.

It looks like a Brexit Deal is about to be struck.

And - next year, the UK will be banning the live export of animals. (We couldn't do that in the EU.)

Just feeling really good about the UK today Smile

It doesn't often happen, so I thought I would appreciate the moment Grin

Just remember when you’re queuing up for your vaccine, that if the UK government had handled the crisis better, you wouldn’t be needing that vaccine at all.)

Same goes for every single other country

Except for some countries there is no rush as no-one in the community has covid atm and they can take their time vaccinating.

Great although benefitting from high cases elsewhere and the vaccine developed subsequently.

I agree with you OP.

Some people, particularly on here, can't cope with any positivity though, particularly if it involves any patriotism.

We should all sit in despair and say how much better every other country is at everything (whilst happily accepting everything the UK provides them with).

BertiesLanding · 03/12/2020 09:53

@1stDecember

Anyway, none of you can pop my bubble. And maybe, just maybe, I'm not the only one feeling like this Smile
You are not the only one feeling like this :)

[quote user1471565182]bendmeoverbackwards please dont pretend you give a single shit about anti semitism or any racism whilst supporting the tory party. Who do you think you're kidding? want to talk about those Tory mps currently ranting about 'cultural marxism'?

Errmm where did I say I support the Tory Party??

I'm sure racism is present to some degree in most political parties but I do believe it's more prevalent in Labour. That's just my view.

My point was that some people are so against the Tories, they will automatically assume the worst of them even when they act well.

There's a lot of hate and negativity against the Government and the UK in general. It must be awful to live like that.

Personally I feeling very positive today.

eaglejulesk · 03/12/2020 09:56

I do believe other countries have played their part. I wasn't aware that the vaccine about to be rolled out was developed in the UK anyway, but they were the first to take advantage of it, so one could say they are benefitting from another country's work.

Yes we are and I’m happy to say as such. And hopefully AZ Oxford will resolve pricing and logistical issues for other countries. We’ll see.

Just seen the scummiest tabloids, people really do poor those litter trays into their heads and repeat the shit written in them for the rest of the day dont they? some of the stuff said on here is a carbon copy of that colonial old shit.

Id love to tell these flag wavers what people in the army used to call them one day.

user1471565182 · 03/12/2020 10:00

Well nobody mentioned labour but you felt you had to? and said you were better to support them than labour?

FourTeaFallOut · 03/12/2020 10:01

Surely no one will take their time vaccinating? It's incredibly costly to be so isolated for one and secondly it makes you incredibly vulnerable.

Take the much feted New Zealand which is also incredibly geologically active country. They won't be asking for vaccine passports when help arrives if they see another earthquake like the one in Christchurch.

It makes good sense for everyone to get on to it as soon as possible.

ZolaGrey · 03/12/2020 10:04

Have you been smoking the Daily Mail?

Thanks, I needed a laugh this morning. Almost spat my coffee out with that chestnut.

@Ineedaduvetday

Hard hat at the ready OP! You can't praise the Tories on here and live to tell about it Grin

PS: I agree with you

The Tories do not have the praise.

All along they have been saying the government must act based on science. The PM said that again at the conference yesterday. It is all about the science. For that reason they cannot take the praise and those that do will come across poorly.

Manolinette · 03/12/2020 10:09

Loved the way JVT owned the ITV reporter yesterday though!

Exactly as I remember the 1970's when Labour were in power. The same type of Labour that Corbyn and McCluskey wanted to steer us towards only last year. Many voters, traditional Labour supporters, who remember that era gave a very clear message.

nemeton · 03/12/2020 10:17

Russia has been vaccinating people for three or four months. I thought I'd read that China we're too. Why is this claimed as first in the world?

Inastatus · 03/12/2020 10:18

I agree with you OP. God forbid anyone for thinking slightly positively about the government in ensuring that the UK is first to get the vaccine.

nemeton · 03/12/2020 10:23

Just checked- China have been vaccinating since July, Russia since August.

MarshaBradyo · 03/12/2020 10:23

Can you imagine the onslaught of posts if Germany had been first? Whole site would have filled up with our incompetence etc

Now it’s U.K. and we’re rushing and loads of other negative stuff

I do think the U.K. can be dial up the self positivity somewhat

Backbee · 03/12/2020 10:25

The obsession with Germany ‘winning’ things is really depressingly unreconstructed.

The Chinese vaccines are still in trials www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-54982910

Russia decided to roll theirs out yesterday. Not sure about that one though Hmm
