The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Lots of 'oven' things can be done in the slow cooker, joints of meat, chicken, baked potatoes.

You can do a sort of 'roast' potatoes by parboiling and then deep frying.

Mmm. Croissant.

I hope Fernando is patient. I’d like to learn but my balance is awful.

@ValancyRedfern yes the food in here is non nauseous, you also cannot catch covid so social distancing doesn't apply.

I'm sure we can get you an omelette, would you like something alcoholic to drink? Hot chocolate with vanilla vodka is very good.

@sashh I do joints of meat in the slow cooker but never baked potatoes- I may try this. I make a good bean chilli and we love it with jackets! Will put back on the menu. Thank you for the suggestion.

@ValancyRedfern I hope you feel better IRL. This is an amazing space. I often pop in for coffee after a bad night with DS. Although this week I'm running on chocolates.

Well it's still cold and icy here so it's time for a proper fry up, bacon, eggs, sausages (choose one or all of Cumberland, pork and pepper Lincolnshire) eggs (chicken and or duck) cooked however you like, black pudding, farls / potato cakes, hash browns, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, fried bread...

Florence is making pastries and Fernando is experimenting with hot chocolate and coffee.

I've set up a toddler / small person coat and welly rail - so help your LO to wellies and a waterproof all in one.

Very wet here rather than frosty so I shall welcome the wellies. Cold last night though, a definite three-cat night and it's not oftem I welcome fishy old gentlecat under the duvet.
Could Fernando make me up a sausage and brown sauce butty for after I put the bins out?

I'm just putting everything out in chaffing dishes so help yourselves.

Snowing here again.

I've been in tier 4 since tier 4 was a thing. It sucks as my local community rates are low but the towns are high but it's easier to group us all together... and everything we do is in a town so makes no difference now.

I'm curious to what I'm returning to in the new year as I teach- so just waiting to hear what's going on.

Hot chocolate with vodka sounds amazing!! Everything makes me nauseous these days so virtual drinks are hitting the spot! I have had Covid so am virtually hugging everyone as I miss hugs so much!!!

I have yet to try it with vodka IRL @ValancyRedfern but it comes highly recommended at the cafe.

I’ll have mine with orange liquor.

@MinnieMountain I teach SEN post 16.... so I will be at work anyway regardless as throughout all lockdowns (only I was on maternity leave for the 1st one) I just don't know what it will look like.

And yes it was cold but chickens are done for the week!
