The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

@snowy0wl just something on my kindle and a bit of Private Eye.

@crazycatlady7 I had my support bubble round yesterday so there was much drinking of wine and eating of food and ignoring the call from my brother.

I often don't sleep well after that type of evening.

Ooooh - a fellow Private Eye reader. 🙂 Hopefully the calm of the cafe can help your brain to unwind.

@crazycatlady7 - my DD has brought along one of her new toys to the cafe (activity cube). I’m sure she would love to show your little one if they are interested.

@snowy0wl I subscribed to show support in that area MN HQ don't like you discussing and is probably best not discussed in the cafe. It was a nice surprise to actually enjoy it.

Well the kitten bees are benefiting from their jumpers, they have just discovered snowball fights. Well actually it is a snowflake fight because they can't hold anything much bigger.

Morning all, well it is cold and icy here so I'm stoking up the fire so we can toast crumpets the old fashioned way.

Fernando is making mulled wine and cider, but there are obviously non alcoholic drinks for this morning.

I also need to canvas opinion.

Does the cafe stay open into the new year?

I know we are down to a few regulars but that's fine, I can still provide virtual breakfasts but would Dec 31st be a logical end?

It’s a few degrees warmer here, so we’re mainly damp (I live near a flood plain).

Toasted crumpets sound delicious.

Could we keep the cafe going if we all pop on to make breakfast? I’ll miss the kitten bees.

Since there’s still snow, I’m made them an igloo to explore.

Morning! I would love to keep the cafe open if possible. I’m dreading the next few weeks as a sahm once my DH returns work. With everything shut by me I’m a little lonely irl atm.

In happier news, @MinnieMountain - thanks for building an igloo. I’ve put my DD in her wellies and snowsuit so that she can explore it. I can’t wait to introduce her to snow irl. It was funny to watch the cats the first time they saw snow.

I was thinking of bringing marshmallows to the cafe tomorrow to toast by the fire.

Oh hello, I loved the café part 1 but somehow the all new café had passed me by.

A crumpet, hot chocolate if you have any and a little rest in a wing backed chair would be marvellous, thank you.

PS I love the kitten-bees. My cats, who are assholes to the last man, are considerably too big to be kitten-bees, and not cute. I like to think there are tiny cute kittens in the world and not thugs like the CatBros. ("Dude! You totally killed that sock, bro!")

There are also buds on my pear trees. Spring will come again.

@Cattermole When the weather improves and the kitten bees go back outside watch out for the bumble cats, they look cute but can be thugs.

I missed s'mores.... I have no idea where today has gone- I'm glad you are keeping the cafe open @sashh it's a lovely place to sit with DS and watch the animals and I can relax.

I think the next few months will be challenging with the tiers and things cancelled.

But good news we have ordered a new oven and it arrives next week. I'm hoping nothing else goes wrong now.

Spring is definitely considering springing. (It's wiggling its bum pre-pounce like the kitten bees.)

@sashh croissant will be lovely! We have them to cook but can't now irl.

Well so far we are managing on hob cooked meals..... if we need an oven we can ask the neighbours to help us. I do have a slow cooker, and having to change the what we have for tea. I was hoping to do some batch cooking for easy freezer meals for when I'm back at work but can't now 😭 however my new cooker will be lovely when it gets here
