The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Just picked up chicken food- can I have a bacon sandwich and baby and I will feed the chickens for you? Clearly yours are more exciting than his 11 in the garden 🤷‍♀️

I think I'm ready for Christmas in tier 4 finally! Today we are making decorations when the craft bits arrive! In tier 2 with his baby group they are having a Christmas party which he can't go to- blessing are he hasn't a clue what that is. He's enjoyed getting the shopping in today and pointing out the decorations to me.

@snowy0wl how old is your little girl? My DS is 14 months now. 😱

@crazycatlady7 - thank you for checking on the chickens. Where has the day gone?? Have you finished making the decorations? Do you have any spare ones for the cafe?

DD is 13 months old. Thankfully too young to understand the muted Christmas celebrations this year.

We have decorations for the tree, I think I will place them, baby will just pull the tree down 🤦🏼‍♀️

DS is the same hasn't a clue what is going on. He's enjoyed opening the cards as they have arrived and Amazon boxes.

Well as we have a few babies / toddlers around I think we must have finger food.

Florence is making churros and breakfast biscuits, I'm making toast, toppings optional and Fernando is experimenting with various warm frothy milks.

Don't worry about the finger prints, the kitten bees will take care of them.

@crazycatlady7 - sorry to hear this. Hopefully it is just a precaution. Our little ones can play together in the cafe. How many cats do you have? I’ve got two. One is currently snuggled up next to me.

@snowy0wl I think it's from swimming as our phones are in own bags on the side not 2m apart it's the only place really we are likely to be in the 15 mins less than 2m which the app works on. So I don't think we are likely to be exposed. But not leaving the house is ok now- DH can take DS to see the lights tonight and I can have a Beth (tidy up, prep dinner, do the washing in reality)

I have 3 cats, 2 who are willing to let DS play with them, one hates him unless he gets food off him. The chickens love DS again because he drops food but we have some bold ones that we really need to watch them around him now.

It's lovely watching the babies play.

Can we have the keys to the cafe for tomorrow please @sashh? So we can help ourselves if we need to escape family.

Also the kitten bees might need some attention.

Been up for 2hrs with DS who clearly doesn't want to sleep 🤷‍♀️ DH is with him now working his magic 🤞

Just going to grab a hot chocolate and hopefully get some more sleep.... part of me can't wait for DS excitement for Christmas Day but I would love consistent sleep right now.

Hello. We are hoping DD will go to sleep soon so that I can settle in the cafe by the fire. She enjoyed ripping open the wrapping paper today. Are there any champagne and smoked salmon bagels left?

I'm ready to put my feet up without DS asleep on me.

It's been magical today with him. Then my oven broke mid cooking dinner (I'm so unlucky! It's one thing after another) but our neighbours saved dinner and all was well.

It looks like some of you had a really tiring day yesterday so I'll just set F and F on making up sandwiches and drinks for when you are ready / wake up.

DD has been up since 6.30am and so I’m ready for a caffeine fix whenever the coffee is ready.

@snowy0wl I know we both laughed. What was worse DH dreamed that the oven would break on Christmas Day and I had a dream we went shopping for a new one 🤦🏼‍♀️ he does think he can fix it so we will try that. We want to redo the kitchen so want to replace the oven then.

@sashh sandwiches would be fantastic- we will all be in later. But for now can I have a take away coffee as DS is pulling all the books out 🤦🏼‍♀️.

It's too dark, wet and miserab;e to do much so help yourselves to the fridge and larder.

Fernando is making coffees and hot chocolate, Florence is making herbal teas I'm going to curl up in one of the big chairs and read my kindle.

Morning @sashh. You are awake early today. Did you manage to read much of your book? I hope the animals were tucked safely inside last night - there was a terrible storm!

I agree it was a horrid night so windy- we are hoping to get out for a walk today so hoping it isn't too wet or windy later 🤞
