The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Walks into the cafe and closes umbrella.

Wow, what a cosy place! Is that bacon I can smell? :)

sashh · 21/12/2020 10:17

Hi @snowy0wl are you new? Welcome.

What would you like with your bacon?

snowy0wl · 21/12/2020 10:41

Hello. Yes, I’m new to the cafe. I’m looking for an escape from Tier 4 with a one-year old (catlady I feel your pain!) :/

Is there any fresh bread this morning? A bacon roll in warm bread with melted butter and tomato ketchup would be divine. Also, anything with caffeine!

My baby is eyeing up the Christmas tree - eeek! Maybe I can distract her with the kitten bees?

moglovesmincepies · 21/12/2020 11:57

I'm flaming positive! Do you do deliveries @sashh?

moglovesmincepies · 21/12/2020 11:57

Hi @snowy0wl welcome! Smile

MinnieMountain · 21/12/2020 14:15

Well it’s a very stylish hazmat suit @moglovesmincepies.

Hello @snowy0wl. Is your baby allowed a chocolate bauble?

moglovesmincepies · 21/12/2020 14:23

Why thank you @MinnieMountain it skins my curves Grin
How are you?

MinnieMountain · 21/12/2020 15:04

Nervous @moglovesmincepies. My 7yo who no longer believes in Father Christmas is asking when we fill his stocking and giggling lots.

moglovesmincepies · 21/12/2020 16:44

Oh no!
Can you shush him with the threat of receiving nothing if he carries on? Aw that's a young age though. Ds wobbled but after me asking if he wanted to risk it by not believing he's thrown himself into it but I think this will be the last year Sad

snowy0wl · 21/12/2020 18:36

Hi @MinnieMountain. I’m currently trying to get my little one to bed and so may I eat the chocolate bauble on her behalf?

@moglovesmincepies - you are rocking the hazmat suit. Hopefully you won’t need to wear it for too long.

Is the cafe surrounded by fields? My daughter has just learnt to moo like a cow and is keen to meet a cow in real life. Thankfully she is too young to question the existence of Father Christmas this year.

moglovesmincepies · 21/12/2020 18:39

Thanks @snowy0wl Grin
thats so cute!
I think there's room out back for a cow or two isn't there @sashh? Sure I've seen a stable.

crazycatlady7 · 21/12/2020 19:52

Is there any bacon left? I don't know where today has gone!

That's it for us, last day at childminders and now to focus on Christmas.

And in exciting news baby took his first steps today! As rubbish as this all is I'm looking forward to encouraging him to walk. Nothing will be safe! 😂 thank you all for being here the last few days.

snowy0wl · 21/12/2020 22:06

Amazing news @crazycatlady7! It won’t be long before he’s wearing wellies and splashing in the puddles. This is something I’m looking forward to doing with my little one in the Spring. :)

moglovesmincepies · 21/12/2020 22:28

@crazycatlady7 brilliant!

MinnieMountain · 22/12/2020 06:56

That’s lovely news @crazycatlady7. Your cats had better watch out now Grin

Help yourself @snowy0wl.

sashh · 22/12/2020 08:19

Morning all.

moglovesmincepies - this is a virtual cafe in a tier free zone, you might be positive IRL but not when you come in here.

Well I'm gradually catching up on MasterChef the professionals, so I'm pinching their skills test and cooking rosti, eggs, bacon and tomato.

A little note for those of you with toddlers / about to toddle, the ice rink has some plastic crates so the little ones can learn to skate by pushing a crate, a bit like a baby walker. I have some tiny skates.

It will be back to a water feature by the time they have wellies.

IRL my cousin's baby has just had his second birthday and is now very much a little boy enjoying puddles. They have found it hard in lockdown with a 1 year old growing into a 2 year old.

Ooo bacon eggs any hash browns?

Managed to film baby walking this morning! Can't wait to take him up the woods to splash and play in puddles with his older friends- he's been watching them all this year.

Right to let him try skating!

And yes @MinnieMountain the cats are finding it harder to get away from him 😂 I've let them out today in the garden (with the chickens) for a break from him.

MinnieMountain · 22/12/2020 09:44

Rosti etc sounds delicious @sashh.

sashh · 22/12/2020 10:38

@crazycatlady7 try the rosti, it is similar to hash browns.

Florence and Fernando went for a walk this morning, they seem to have brought back an entire petting zoo, a cow, a miniature horse, sheep, goats and chickens.

OP posts:
crazycatlady7 · 22/12/2020 12:17

Fantastic! Will now try making my own rosti!

Baby loves Chickens he will be entertained for hours!

MinnieMountain · 22/12/2020 12:50

I’m never leaving this cafe now it has a petting zoo too.

snowy0wl · 22/12/2020 18:37

Thank you Florence and Fernando. My daughter will be delighted. Does the miniature horse allow children to ride him?

sashh · 23/12/2020 07:06

Morning all.

It looks like we will be spending time outside so I think sandwiches again, all the usual bacon. egg, sausages etc.

Don't forget to pick up the appropriate animal food, they need breakfast too.

@snowy0wl the horse is only 90cm so not really one to ride, there will be a donkey later (she has been doing nativity plays) and possibly a reindeer, he's visiting hospitals and hospices.

snowy0wl · 23/12/2020 08:54

Good morning. There were plenty of carrots in the supermarket and so I have brought some for the animals. My daughter raided the recycling and insisted on bringing along an empty cereal box to the cafe. I will try to keep it away from the goats.

Have the chickens laid any eggs this morning?

sashh · 23/12/2020 09:06

@snowy0wl I'm not sure, maybe you and dd could have a look.
