The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

And in other news, the Junior Engineer had a lovely day and we got him a special pizza for his tea. (Co-op's Dirty Louisiana stuffed crust.)
The bloody cat's only gone and eaten a quarter of it before it was even cooked.

I wouldn't mind, but the buggers were wormed last week: they have no excuse at all.

sashh · 09/03/2021 05:45

Morning all.

Lol at the pizza eating cat - mine once managed the topping of a whole cheesecake - it was chocolate, it came out looking, well lets say I don't eat chocolate cheesecake anymore.

I think we need to finish off the champagne today and Florence is making croissants to go with them,

Hope Florence had a good day off yesterday - she was greatly missed.
The horrible little bugger is none the worse for his chilli experience.
If he leads the kitten-bees into bad ways I will be having serious words with him.

MinnieMountain · 09/03/2021 10:05

Morning all

I love a freshly made croissant.

Your cat sounds like a real character Cattermole. Mine would do anything for chicken but she’s too small to be a thug.

sashh · 10/03/2021 00:17

Morning all, just.

Well after following the court cases yesterday we all deserve a gin breakfast.

OP posts:
sashh · 11/03/2021 04:59

Morning all.

Well the gin wasn't popular.

We seem to have a glut of eggs so I think omelets, cheese, ham, bacon, Spanish, cream, herbs ...

It's a bit windy today so please make sure no kitten bees are near the door when you open the door.

OP posts:
crazycatlady7 · 11/03/2021 05:50

Morning a cheese and are there some mushrooms? In an omelette please. Glad to see the kitten bees aren't too near the door.

Ds is currently sleeping on me, I would had liked it to be in bed not a chair 🤷‍♀️ so a tea would be great too please.

And yes so windy, had to check the garden as we have so many trees... they are all standing still. Hoping the chickens slept in the house last night and not in their run as they seem to like too.

MinnieMountain · 11/03/2021 07:10

Morning all

It was a bit early for gin @sashh Grin (never thought I’d say that).

A cheese and ham omelette please. And a lovely strong coffee. I forget the names but presumably Fernando can make a small-ish one that’s not a espresso?

Aww @crazycatlady7 I miss baby cuddles. A 7yo lounging on you munching an apple is not the same.

sashh · 11/03/2021 08:43

Hands out omelets and tea / coffee.

The wind seems to have dropped a bit here.

Morning all.

Shall we indulge in Indian breakfast food?

Puris, youghurt, paratha, sambal, and chutney

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 12/03/2021 07:14

Mmm. Yes please @sashh. I’ll have the full Indian (so to speak).

Would the bumble cats like a nibble! They seem the type of animal who would.

How are you?

I’m excited as I’m trying out my new Bundt cake tin today.

crazycatlady7 · 12/03/2021 09:27

Yes please I'm up for trying it all.

Just trying to plan the day and not motivated today. We did make cakes yesterday so please help yourself. I may take DS to look at the animals.

In other news my baby chicks are finally laying eggs 🎉🎉🎉

sashh · 13/03/2021 05:15

Morning all.

After the spices yesterday I think yoghurt, fruit, smoothies and sparkling water for a gentle start to the day.

If you are not feeling the fruitiness then Florence has fired up the plancher.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 13/03/2021 09:24

Morning all

Yoghurt and fruit sounds like a good idea after yesterday.

We’ve hired a hot tub for the weekend, so it will be like being at a spa.

sashh · 13/03/2021 11:14

Let me know how the hot tub goes, I've thought about doing that myself.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 13/03/2021 13:45

I’ve already booked it again for Easter weekend @sashh Grin DH took delivery but said it was straightforward. It heated up overnight. I might have a quiet sit in it early tomorrow morning too.

sashh · 14/03/2021 04:37

Morning all.

Sorry there is a bit of a mess in the garden, the ice rink is being changed into a series of hot / warm spring fed pools and a huge jacuzzi. Thanks for the idea @MinnieMountain

Now breakfast, lets head to Nigeria for akara and pap, okpa and hausa koko.

OP posts:
crazycatlady7 · 14/03/2021 06:10

Morning- finally getting DS back down since 1am.... been tag teaming with DH and think I've slept an hour.

Please pass me coffee, and I'll curl up in the comfy chair for now. Can't wait to see the jacuzzi. You've made this cafe so nice.

Anyone want my DS for a few hours? 😂 my very un covid following or stupid HV asked me if we get any breaks- I've pointed out he was too old for a bubble and we have no one who we could ask to take him as our childcare bubble is needed so we can work and they can't have him at weekends 🤦🏼‍♀️ roll on June 21st... only 14 weeks to go!

sashh · 14/03/2021 06:29

Pass DS over. How old is he? Florence has some pastry if he's old enough to play with it.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 14/03/2021 07:54

Well sod spending time with my family. I’ll be in the hot pools all day Grin

Hand him over @crazycatlady7. If we cool one of the pools down a bit I can take your DS “swimming” to tire him out.

crazycatlady7 · 14/03/2021 09:55

Thank you @sashh and @MinnieMountain he's 16 months so missed the new rule of a year or under in December by a
Month.

@MinnieMountain he's a water baby so don't worry he will be in any water fully dressed too 😂 can't wait for swimming to start again.

sashh · 14/03/2021 14:42

The hot springs are based on some I visited in Uruguay

Morning all.

OK back to the Northen hemisphere and a trip to Israel, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, bread and butter, eggs fruit juice and coffee.

OP posts:
sashh · 16/03/2021 04:30

Morning all.

Well Florence made Simnel cakes so there is plenty left if anyone wants one with their coffee.

Fernando will be offering 'pool service' cocktails.

crazycatlady7 · 16/03/2021 06:50

If only I didn't have work today a day by the pool sounds great

Can I have a coffee and cake to go please?
