The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

I’ve got a Roymond Blanc recipe book which has savoury eggy bread with warm berries. I agree that cinnamon is too much.

IRL I have a Raymond Blanc recipe book too, it has been used precisely once. The pictures are pretty but life is too short to bone a rabit leg more than once.

Mine is Simple French Cookery @sashh. It largely lives up to its name. Although I was happy to take the time to bone rabbit or hare pre-DS.

well there is still a chill in the air so sausage butties, Cumberland, Lincolnshire, chipolatas, chicken chipolatas, various wursts and of course sauerkraut to go with the wurst.

Florence has made an array of breads to go with the sausages and Fernando is starting work on a patio area, just next to the petting zoo.

A sausage butter sounds just right. A dollop of HP sauce on mine please.

World Book Day today. Making me nostalgic for the days when the DC actually read books.
Maybe there’ll come back to the joy of reading later in life.....

I can’t wait to get the house back to myself! One of the first things I’ll do is get into their bedrooms and give their a proper clean. Dread to think what I’ll find 😂

I’ve been making huge hints re Mother’s Day. M and S are doing a drink called Mumosa which is sparkling wine with orange and strawberry juice, sounds right up my street.
I guess my teens wouldn’t be allowed to buy it though......

Well inspired by the convenience food that isn't I'm making pancakes, crepes, galette, oatcakes etc, sweet or savory.

Good morning, what a week it's been. Looking forward to another weekend just the three of us. DS has had some bad nights but is currently playing in his cot. I would love a tea and some pancakes before I have to get him.

Afternoon all

I started a post requesting a Breton galette (spinach, cheese and egg) earlier but got distracted. Never mind, it will do well for lunch.

DH has kindly taken DS out for a bit, so I’m going to enjoy my galette and play with the kitten bees in peace.

I love galettes - we went on holiday to Rouen a year or so ago and went out for dinner every night at a galetterie.
Amazed they didn't end up rolling us home....

Jonny cakes, calaloo, steamed cabbage and saltfish, ackee with ripe plantain and cornmeal porridge.

Fernando is making drinks in coconuts and Florence is making dumplings.

Morning just! We've been up since 5am and managed to stretch to usual nap time.... currently under a snoring DS.

I've not been to Jamaica and haven't tried anything so willing to try but not the fish.

Mog he's been back in most days since Christmas (key worker brat) he just doesn't like mornings very much!

I suspect he was a bit nervous though about seeing the love of his life again in person. Hair washed and tie straight this morning, so we shall see....

As it is International Women's day Florence has a day off and the champagne will be served all day.

The path to the nature reserve was shut. I’m taking up residence in the cafe until 3pm.
