The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Morning all!

OOhh I’ve never had bubble and squeak and always wanted to try it.

The snowdrops have come up in our garden, so pretty.

Hopefully going for a walk later with DH and, maybe, DCs.

May watch Penguin Bloom with DD and popcorn too. Think it’s a sobfest!

MinnieMountain · 27/02/2021 10:27

I wonder if he’ll ever remember why he liked the middle of the night parties so much @crazycatlady7

I’ve had a walk whilst calling a friend. We’re off out to the park soon.

I need to fit in some OT but it’s probably not a good idea to title check people’s leaseholds today Grin

My Tenby daffs are out.

We’re working our way through the anime films on Netflix.

BaconAndAvocado · 27/02/2021 10:44

MinnieMountain are those films Studio Ghibli?

DD loves them.

sashh · 27/02/2021 11:51

I did a post handing out food but it has disappeared. Anyway everyone you now have your food.

MinnieMountain · 27/02/2021 12:47

They are Bacon. The cat king one was good.

sashh · 27/02/2021 13:04

@MinnieMountain my carer has been to the Studio Ghibli museum, I'm not jealous. Honestly I'm not. Not one little bit.

I thought I missed F&F this morning!
We have a new dresser in our kitchen and new yellow gingham curtains! which sounds very twee but in fact we live in a very dark stone cottage and sunniness is a rare thing. So yellow curtains is all good!

Been out in the garden, hung out washing,oh yes I did. Tomorrow, the bedding.

sashh · 28/02/2021 03:14

Morning all.

OK today we are going for a breakfast I don't think exists outside Yorkshire. Cold Yorkshire puddings with golden syrup.

Florence is still practicing Welsh cakes and Fernando is watching the Sean Bean Yorkshire tea ad in order to make proper strong tea.

OP posts:
Cattermole · 28/02/2021 09:28

Tell Fernando I got my spoon ready to stand up in his tea!

sashh · 28/02/2021 10:07

@Cattermole A proper brew, only just weak enough to not dissolve the spoon.

crazycatlady7 · 28/02/2021 10:38

We were talking about Yorkshire puddings and jam yesterday, my DSF used to have them as a child- he's Yorkshire!

@MinnieMountain I do wonder what goes through DS's head- we had another midnight party last night so really hope tonight we sleep 🤞

Proper tea and Yorkshire puddings sound good. Are the animals about? I may set DS out to explore the garden today.

Cattermole · 28/02/2021 10:45

In a brown teapot, I hope @sashh? One of those chunky ones with a shiny brown glaze!

IRL we've just started watching All Creatures Great And Small so we're feeling the love for teapots!

sashh · 28/02/2021 11:53

Yes the animals are out.

Yes jam and Yorkshire puddings is an acceptable supper or breakfast dish.

@Cattermole is that the recent remake? I recorded it but didn't get around to watching it, but I remember the old series well.

MinnieMountain · 28/02/2021 12:21

I don’t like tea.
The pudding and syrup sounds good though.

I’m jealous @sashh. We watched Castle in the Sky last night. It was very well done.

I’ve just made Welsh cakes, which DS is happily munching whilst reading his Beanos.

You’ll have to remind him of the midnight parties when you’re dragging your DS out of bed as a teenager @crazycatlady7.

sashh · 01/03/2021 06:04

Morning all.

Dydd San Ffolant Hapus.

Florence has been busy making welsh cakes, Fernando had a trip to the coast to and has been making lavabread this morning, there is bacon and cockles to go with it are optional.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 01/03/2021 06:17

Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus to you too.

Florence has outdone herself with the Welsh cakes.

It’s misty here but I’m warm in bed with a Birthday Cat on my lap.

mogloveseggs · 01/03/2021 17:53

Happy St David's day Daffodil

sashh · 02/03/2021 05:02

Morning all.

It looks like another fine day here so lets have a fruit based breakfast, smoothies, fresh fruit and fruit malt loaf.

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 02/03/2021 07:25

Morning everyone !

Fruit based brekkie sounds good to me.

Just got back from doing DS2’s paper round together. He’s somehow cricked his neck and couldn’t carry the heavy bag of papers. He was suitably grateful!

It’s like 19th century London out there, so foggy.

sashh · 03/03/2021 05:22

Morning all.

I think we will base today's breakfast on eggs, boiled, poached etc and as they are in the shops chocolate ones.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 03/03/2021 07:13

Morning all

Scrambled eggs on toast for me please.

I’m going to wrap myself up and enjoy the peace of the garden for a bit.

sashh · 03/03/2021 08:24

One scrambled egg on toast, I used just s touch of cream in the eggs.

OP posts:
Cattermole · 03/03/2021 09:16

Can I be cheeky and have eggy bread?
Not had eggy bread for many a year.....

Cattermole · 03/03/2021 09:17

PS @BaconAndAvocado long may your DS continue to have a paper round. It made me smile to read that, I thought the days of paper boys (and girls) were numbered!

sashh · 03/03/2021 09:35

One eggy bread, I assume with salt and pepper not cinnamon and sugar like the Americans make?
