The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Yep, I would like the honey bread recipe too...

Very breezy today here, grey but dry. I have been amusing myself by jumping up and down the kitchen steps and the cats all think I'm crackers.

mogloveseggs · 24/02/2021 21:31

@MinnieMountain

Morning

Crumpets please. And coffee as usual.

How was your first day back at the grindstone mogloveseggs?

Will the bumble cats be out of hibernation soon? Do they need any special care? I’m happy to be on early duty.

First day back to homeschooling was ok thanks. Feels weird that I won't be doing it much longer. Got used to it now!
mogloveseggs · 24/02/2021 21:32

@crazycatlady7 hope dc sleeps well tonight for you

crazycatlady7 · 25/02/2021 05:17

@mogloveseggs up at 4.30 again 😭 but I went to bed at 8pm 😂 trying to convince him it's not morning yet 🤞

I'm happy to get drinks going.... grabbing a tea and curling up by the fire as DS has cold feet.

sashh · 25/02/2021 05:30

Morning all.

@crazycatlady7 thank you for starting breakfast, I'll get the plancher on for a full English.

Florence has made an array of bread rolls, baguettes and tiger bread, Federico is making extra strong coffee with sweet spices like cinnamon.

Morning all

I found we were both much happier doing homeschooling this week mogloveseggs.

Just think- soon we will no longer be able to walk on golf courses! (Exciting).

I’ve nicked some of Ivy’s Iaams to try to tempt out the bumble cats.

Can I have a sausage sandwich to take to the office please? I’m in early.

sashh · 25/02/2021 07:47

One sausage sandwich, I'll put a couple of sachets of sauce so you can add it fresh if you want to.

Morning
Full English sounds perfect thanks @sashh no black pudding or mushrooms though please.
@crazycatlady7 4.30? Yikes. That's very early. I have the opposite problem mine don't want to get up!
@MinnieMountain that's good. I'll miss it in a way but will be very glad to have a tidy house Grin

Cattermole · 25/02/2021 08:52

Morning all!
I think today might be the first day of the year when we can put washing on the line.....

mogloveseggs · 25/02/2021 10:01

I was thinking that myself @Cattermole it's a lovely day!

Cattermole · 25/02/2021 10:17

I've got little un's pyjamas out :-) I may even wash at least one of the sofa throws, they've got that sort of closed indoors-smell!

crazycatlady7 · 25/02/2021 11:28

I managed to get DS back down at 5.20 and he got up at 7.30 🎉🎉🎉 clearly the cuddling by the fire worked.

Hoping I get my wash on the line- just ordered DS some bedding which arrived this morning and now is in the wash.

mogloveseggs · 25/02/2021 12:57

Wonderful @crazycatlady7 🎉🎉
Tomorrow is supposed to be nice too @Cattermole I think I'll do my throws then Smile

Cattermole · 25/02/2021 20:09

Hope your bedding smells nice and fresh @crazycatlady7! I've got one of the blankets back in (it was my late mother in law's and it's a sort of pink and grey checked tartan from the National Trust - very tasteful but Senior Gentlecat has a habit of , er, forgetting himself on the fringe. The kitten bees don't ever do that I hope.)

Got Senior Gentlecat on my knee at the moment, it's getting a bit cold at night still....

mogloveseggs · 25/02/2021 20:15

@Cattermole it's rather chilly here tonight! I was thinking of putting the rabbit back out but maybe not quite yet. Mog cat is on his perch (top of the armchair) but I might see if I can persuade him to sit with me. Probably not. He only likes to sit on Dh really to piss him off

crazycatlady7 · 26/02/2021 03:48

Morning- up again for the last 45mins. Bedding smells lovely and can't wait to change the beds today. Something about drying washing outside and the smell. DH thought I was mad yesterday.

Just going to grab a hot chocolate and curl up with DS by the fire as it's a little chilly and also this worked yesterday 🤞

sashh · 26/02/2021 06:49

Morning all.

Please do not corrupt the kitten bees with blankets or anything else.

Inspired by the 70s cooking thread I'm cooking bacon and tommatoes.

So it starts with bacon in a frying pan, once cooked add chopped tomatoes (my mum used tinned) cook for a bit and add boiling water, salt and pepper. It's a sort of breakfast soup and if you dip buttered bread in it so much better.

Florance has made a range of pastries overnight and Fernando has set up an outdoor heater, table, chairs with blankets because it's not freezing but it's not warm.

Cattermole · 26/02/2021 08:07

@sashh my mum used to do bacon and egg in the oven with cheese - line your dish with the bacon, crack eggs on top of it, cover it with cheese and sliced tomato. Lovely it is.
IRL Senior Gentlecat disgraced himself on the sheepskin rug again (he's fine in himself, he's just had a hard time lately with house upheaval and scaffolding and things so we don't get too mad with him, poor bean-feet) so there's the first wash on!
We had a frost last night. Pastry and hot chocolate much appreciated.
Hope you and the small got a bit more kip @crazycatlady7.....

mogloveseggs · 26/02/2021 09:52

Mmmmmm bacon

MinnieMountain · 26/02/2021 13:34

Am I too late for breakfast soup?

Does anyone have cat birthday ideas? Mine is 10 next week (give or take a month and a few days- she’s from the RSPCA) and I’d like to mark the day.

It’s a lovely springy day. All this talk of outside dried bedding is making me think we should put an outside line up.

sashh · 26/02/2021 15:13

@MinnieMountain never too late it is also a suitable supper dish.

OP posts:
sashh · 27/02/2021 06:46

Morning All.

Well it is still crisp but the bulbs are coming through so I thought bubble and squeak, with possibly an ebb on one side.

OP posts:
sashh · 27/02/2021 06:47

egg not ebb, the cat is trying to help.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 27/02/2021 08:31

Morning!

I’m joining @crazycatlady7 on the 5 hours sleep today. It’s going to be interesting.

Bubble and squeak and coffee for me please.

Can Florence make Welsh cakes on Monday for St David’s Day please? Not strictly a breakfast food but they’re delicious straight off the pan.

crazycatlady7 · 27/02/2021 08:55

@MinnieMountain welcome to the sleep deprived group. We had another awful night. Thankfully it's the weekend. Hoping DS remembers 3hr parties in the middle of the night aren't cool for when we work Monday.

Bubble and squeak would be nice with an egg.

Has anyone got plans this weekend? I'm hoping to tidy a bit more in the garden.
